"Will Not Be Back"
The first room they put us in was missing every light bulb except one. They moved us to another room and the tv did not work. This place is in need of repair really bad. "Staff needs training"
I work for the hotel industry so I can more or less rate a hotel on the service provided. We asked for additional towels from the front desk since there were 3 of us in the room. FO agent was rude and not accommodating at all; Same thing happened the next day, we had to ask for towels again and it was difficult to get one (not to mention, they gave […] us green towels, not the usual white ones); tissue box was empty and we almost ran out of toilet paper; The bed sheets seemed to be used and not newly changed when we first came in and the luggage cart was broken. Yes, it was one of the lowest prices in the N-O area, so we should not expect 5 star quality. Elevator worked sometimes. When it didn't work, we took the stairs and there was pee in the stairs and not lit well. It was shady. There was "body hair" on the toilet and a spider in the bed. Lets start with the positive. The bed was fine and the sheets were clean. The room had plenty of space. The nonsmoking room at one time must have been smoking because even though there was a no smoking sign on the door the first thing you smelled was smoke stink. We stayed 2 nights and the 2nd morning we opted out of taking a shower because the water […] only had one temp. HOT there was no cold or cooler or warm. The shower rod was hanging by one screw on each side which made the rod sag and impossible to close the curtain on either side. Breakfast was awful! The attendent was too busy standing in the dirty prep room with the door open leaned over the counter messing on her pink phone. The powdered scrambled eggs were way over watery, sausage was under cooked. The room was full of about 30 people and the biscuts and oatmeal stayed empty. The 4 apples available were shriveled. The only thing that might have been good was the fresh waffles you make yourself but the line was so long I didn't wait. There was nothing for someone who might try and be healthy. Bread, bagles, juice, and coffee. No water was available. Needless to say we picked at our eggs and sausage and decided to eat elsewhere. "OK for the price"
We came to town for the baseball game between UNO and GA State. The French Quarter festival was going on that weekend so there were no reasonably priced hotels near Wesley Barrows stadium or in the French Qtr. Most hotels were booked so this was the only acceptable option without getting a room in Slidell. My husband went to work out and said the equipment was broken or non-functional so he was very disappointed. This was a La Quinta when I booked my room, so when I arrived at my destination (according to my GPS) I couldn't find the hotel since they changed name to Baymont and didn't inform me. The bed was comfortable, but the filthy carpet and what looked to be possibly mold in the corners where the floor and walls meet along with the dirty bathroom, really […] left me disappointed. The hotel said they had free WiFi, but the signal was touch and go, and when I was able to connect the signal was so weak that I wasn't able to perform the tasks that I needed to do. I approached the front desk clerk about the WiFi, and after I WOKE HER UP she told me there was nothing that she could do about it. The breakfast was pretty good, but the girl preparing it was VERY rude! One morning I walked to the lobby for a cup of coffee around 5:30 a.m. and there was some guy sleeping in street clothes on one of the sofas, and another guy hanging out with the girl at the front desk. The coffee station was a mess and when I asked if the clerk if there was more coffee she replied with "I'm sorry sir, but that's her job" while pointing in the direction of the before mentioned rude girl that prepared the breakfast. I will not ever stay at this hotel again! I was in this area a year ago and stayed at the Best Western down the road... I should've stayed there this time too. "Management and additional training needed"
My husband & I stayed at this hotel for new year eve. We requested a room with double b we were lock inside for almost an hour until we to climbed out of the window to go back to front desk to tell the young lady that no one came to open our room door. We was told that they were book and didn't have anymore rooms. Someone came and put 10-40 on the door […] we didn't have time to go to another hotel so we stayed. I also notice that the top linen had several dirty spots. So additional linen was wash and dried this took 2hrs. I requested to see other rooms on the 1st floor. During my viewing they all needed repair. The next morning we went to breakfast at 9:30 am we were told that breakfast would be until 10a.m. but when we got there most of the food was put away. I asked the lady on duty if we could have something to eat so she gave me a bagel and 2 muffins. My husband wanted some waffles after trying twice we had no luck alone with a few other guess because the batter had too much water in it. later 2 guess came into the breakfast room at 10 am and the lady on duty turned the lights off on all of us. Returning to our rooms 2 workers (maids) stood in the hall and wouldn't move. when we got to the our room the door was crack open, curtains open check out time was @12noon. My husband called front desk just to be told they have no way of knowing who checked out so they go into all the rooms and finally around 11am the power when out and when I asked for a manager no one was on duty. "La Quinta Inn & Suites New Orleans Chalmette Area"
When I walked into the hotel after driving several hours from FL, there was no one at the front desk. I waited several minutes and then called out "Hello!" The front desk attendant walked out from around the corner talking on her personal cell phone. I could hear her telling the person on the phone that "some crazy person was yelling at the front desk." […] She gave me major attitude and asked if I had been waiting long. I told her that I had been waiting long enough. She said she had only been gone for a minute. I was waiting for longer that that. She gave me my key and continued to give me attitude for questions I asked that she should have told me in the first place. Like where is the elevator? Our bathroom had roaches, and trash was on the floor of our 'clean' room. I encountered more attitude and trouble with the same desk attendant when I asked her for change for the washing machine. She failed to tell me that I could get change from the drink machines, that bit I figured out on my own. Luckily, we spent more time out of the hotel than in it. We were really only there to sleep. I won't be staying at that hotel or another La Quinta ever again. I used to stay a La Quinta Inns frequently because they were inexpensive, clean, friendly service and free breakfast. "Not What we expected"
This hotel had a few problems - when we arrived the clerk at the front desk did not have any key cards to make keys. In trying to reach other people, including the GM she received no help at all in. No one would call her back. She finally had to go to the motel NEXT door to borrow some from them. The room itself had an incredibly bad mold and musty […] smell. The hotel was about fifteen minutes from downtown New Orleans, which was a plus. However, the hallway carpets were wet and had a stinch, the sheets in the bed had hair on them, and the ice machine did not work. This hotel is in need of a little love. New Orleans East is in the upper Ninth Ward and was hit by Katrina. There are no stores in the area. Staff was not knowledgeable a bout places to eat. I was extremely disappoints in this hotel. It was very unclean and the toilet in our room overflowed all over the floor. And when management was notified, they said maintenance was gone for the day. Our consolation was a plunger the manager offered us. We had a double bed non-smoking room and we were only offered a smoking room or a single bed room, […] which simply we could not accept. "Great Front Staff/ Lousy Room"
We stayed at La Quinta for Mardi Gras 2011. This hotel is appox. 10-15 miles from downtown. The front desk staff was extremly friendly, however when we got to our room it was filthy. The bed sheets had dark red stains and the pillow cases had splatters on them, there were half eaten food containers in the window sill, the lamp shade was broken and laying […] on the desk, the tables all had a sticky residue on them, the refigerator had a solid block of ice at the top about 4 inches thick and had sticky yellow stuff all over, the shower curtain had yellow stains running down it, the tub and little hairs in it, the desk chair had a thick jelly like substance running down it, crumppled paper, and a dirty coffee pot that I was afraid to use. When I contacted the front desk they were very apologetic and offered to send someone up to clean. When the maid arrived she spoke almost no english and was very rude and nasty. She held a spray bottle in her hand and stated "what dirty?!" as she threw the sheets towards the couch, which I was on. She then sprayed her bottle in the air and glared at me. We ended up leaving the room due to her ruddness and feeling uncomfortable. The front desk was very friendly again and stated that they were sorry but that was the only room available. They would make sure she cleaned it this time. However whenI returned the room, not much was done, and the same sheets were on the bed. I would not stay at this hotel again due to the filthy room. "Terrible communication and management."
We checked in while we saw a team of repairmen entering the hotel. We weren't told of any problems at the hotel. In the morning when we didn't have any hot water in the shower we found out that the hotel had not had consistent hot water for the last 3-4 days at least! "La Quinta "Chalmette"- far away and crummy"
There was a fire while we were there. It was a small "burnt-popcorn" fire according to the staff. It made loud alarms go off and we had no real explanation about it or if we should evacuate. We had to go down to the first floor to investigate ourselves at around 10 at night. The telephone was disconnected or not working properly. We tried to call the […] hotel before we arrived, but we were unsuccessful. For a while we were not certain if this hotel even existed (not kidding)! When we arrived we asked them if they knew the phone wasn't working and they said that they did, but did not offer an apology or explanation. Cab drivers and food delivery people had no idea where this hotel was. This made it difficult to travel quickly or easily from or to the hotel. We had to take out our smart phone with a GPS app to show the cab driver where the hotel was. The distance from downtown New Orleans made it very expensive to get anywhere. It says it's in the chalmette area....but it technically isn't. The vending machine on our floor did not work (and there was no sign indicating this). The ice machine did not work either.
