With its mix of sacred and profane, the French Quarter defines laissez-faire. This 85-block area is home to Bourbon Street’s rowdy bars, as well as Royal Street’s upmarket antiques. The devil’s music—in the form of New Orleans jazz—thrives at Preservation Hall. Nearby, hymns accompany Mass at St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. A block away, French Market vendors hawk foods and souvenirs.see all hotels in New Orleans
"Great Location in New orleans"
Great hotel - located at the quiet end of the French Quarter but only a few blocks from Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and Royal. Would highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel and staff were absolutely wonderful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved being close to everything and barely used public transportation. The hotel breakfast was good, and the room was spacious and it was in pristine condition when we arrived back every evening.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
very good. Hotel didnot have a gym. But they connected me to another hotel which has a gym and I was able to use their facility. very helpful staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location could hardly be better"
My son and I really enjoyed staying here. The location was perfect as it was in the French Quarter only a block or two away from Jackson Square. Walking to good food was easy and it wasn't that far from Canal Street where we could get an inexpensive all-day pass and ride the streetcars to almost anywhere we needed to go. In our case, that was the National […] WWII Museum. The room was older, like the hotel, but clean, well kept, and comfortable. The help was really helpful, steering us to try a 2-hour VIP tour of the city which was really good and money well spent. The only downside is that parking your car will be expensive, but no more expensive than parking it in a public garage. At least I could see my car and know that it was readily available should I need it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel close to sights"
This was a great hotel for our family. It was beautiful and had a unique New Orleans charm about it. The building we were in had a spiral staircase with a hidden wall entrance. My girls loved this! The staff was VERY helpful and accommodating. The courtyards were pretty and provided nice backgrounds for pictures. It was only a couple blocks away from […] the French Market which allowed us to walk around a lot and get back to relax easily. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This stay was just ok horrible you had to pay $25 a day to park outside and have them move your car 20 times!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night in French Quarter"
For only being in the French Quarter one night, this hotel was a perfect spot. Charming, comfortable, we could walk 3 blocks to Cafe du Monde and explore the area for the morning. The pool looked inviting although we didnt swim and the fountain was pretty. Room was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very friendly staff but don't expect much for breakfast. Very poor selection and nothing warm except the toast. Had better at a Motel 6Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great place to stay"
The hotel was awesome. Clean, friendly staff, great location. Would recommend to all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We have been to New Oleans many times but this was out first visit since Katrina. Hotel Provincial is close enough to the action of the French Quarter, yet offers enough seclusion to get a quiet nighr's sleep. The staff makes you feel very welcomed and offer great suggestions for places to go. We will definatley return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great room & service, middle of french quarter"
On mine and two 17 yr old boys cross country adventure, this was our best hotel. Comfortable beds, double french doors opened onto courtyard, plenty of clean towels everyday, breakfast to fill the boys, in the middle of the French Quarter. The staff helped me with suggestions on places to take the boys. Couldn't have been in a better place!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location for French Quarter stay"
Great staff, great location. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Classic New Orleans Hotel"
We stayed for two nights and loved every minute. There wasn't a coffee maker in the room but there was continental breakfast every morning until 10am. The location was great and close to everything. Just a few blocks for a midnight trip to Cafe Du Monde. The pool was very nice and well kept and the courtyard was beautiful. This is truly a classic New […] Orleans Hotel. Will stay there again in the future!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"quiet but close to many sites we wanted to see"
Our room was small and because it was in the back it was very quiet. We enjoyed the handicap features but had not requested that. How can we request that in the future? Location in the French Quarter allowed us to walk or catch the trolley to all places we wanted to experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to sleep, but not relax"
Location was fantastic: quiet, but very close to shopping, restaurants and Jackson Square. Hotel was very clean. I read a review that mentioned tired, crunchy towels. The hotel must have read it, too, because our towels were new and fluffy. The only real criticism I have is that the bed was very soft ( I have a bad back), and it was not comfortable […] to relax in. So, if all you want to do is sleep, and will spend no leisure time in your room, this is a fine choice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Second stay and will be back"
We stayed overnight for a family visit to the French Quarter. Quick check-in, bell staff is very helpful and the location is great. Less than two blocks from Cafe du Monde. Bathroom is very clean, bed could be a bit more comfy. Parking is convenient ($25). This was our second stay and we will stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Second Stay, good as ever."
I've been to the Hotel Provincial twice and have been very happy with both stays. The location in the Quarter is worth any extra price in comparison to booking anywhere else. The rooms have an old world charm and the staff is excellent. Two caveats; cars must be valet parked, for $25 a day. Plus, the continental breakfast is weak by most standards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A charming historic hotel in the French Quarter"
We stayed at the Hotel Provincial for a one night stay in New Orleans. We got a great deal for being right in the French Quarter. The hotel is clean and adequately maintained. Our room had two double beds and a bathroom with a door to the WC. The beds seemed a little old and creaky. There was noise and light from the courtyard coming through the windows […] all night. Otherwise this is a great place to stay, just be aware that parking is an additional fee. It was still worth being in that location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location for seeing most aspects of N.O. Will be very happy to return to this hotel. Staff willingly handled our request to extend our stay by one day even though Super Bowl was just a week awayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"comfortable beds, quiet neighborhood"
This hotel is within walking distance of about everything in the French Quarter. Parking is extra (two dozen singles). Nice staff and ambience. If you go over Christmas and don't want tourist trap food, be sure to make reservations for lunch and dinner on the 24th and 25th, as it's nearly impossible to get good food otherwise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is in the perfect location. Walking distance to everything we never had to take the car the entire time we were here. The staff was excellent and were looking forward to staying here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Provincial we plan to go again in two years"

"My new favorite hotel."
We wanted to be close to Bourbon Street but not right on it, so this was a perfect location for us. It was an easy walk to all of the things we wanted to do and see in the French Quarter. The Provincial was everything we had hoped it would be and more. We loved everything about it. The pool, the courtyard and fountain, the decor, the rooms, and the […] beds. The beds were like sleeping in clouds. I was very surprised by how clean and well maintained it was for such an old hotel. It was the staff, the history, and the ambiance of the Provincial that makes it so unique. There are other very nice hotels in the Quarter, but none that are any better for the price. Hotel is at one side of the French Quarter, cleaning and maintenance staff unfriendly and maybe in a voodoo trance. I would not stroll too far away from the hotel in the other direction of the French Quarter, natsy neighbourhood.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and Great Hotel for all ages"
We took a family trip to New Orleans. Hotel Provincial was in the French Quarter but away from the stereotypical Bourbon St atmosphere people think of there. Our small children enjoyed the "pretty" room, the pool(s) and even the continental breakfast. It would be nice if the food was changed a bit for variety but not complaining b/c it's a great hotel, […] with helpful and kind staff and at a great price. Be aware you are paying for nightly parking when you get there but you will do that everywhere in the French Quarter. It's just a lovely atmosphere to spend time in New Orleans. Our room was very comfortable (I wanted to bring the beds home with me!), but a few items of furniture were a bit used. It worked well since my three kids might have harmed any expensive amenities. "Beautiful, walkable, perfect"
This hotel is perfect. We were able to walk everywhere. Since it is in the heart of the French Quarter we could go back in the afternoon, swim, shower and then go out to diner. Having two rooms was great with the kids. The pools were lovely. The kitchen was a surprise bonus. Honestly it felt more like a home than a hotel. I would stay here again. "wanted to be in french quarters"
I loved it!!! Hotel staff was friendly & very helpful. The courtyard was beautiful & pool was nice (although we didn't swim). Room was very clean, bed's very comfy. The rooms are kinda small, but they make very good use of the space given. My husband & I have stayed in french quarters before, but this is now our new favorite place. Close enough to everything, […] yet quiet. They lock the gates at 11pm, so only guests can get in, which is nice. Have a sense of security. Will stay here again! "Within walking distance of several local sights"
The hotel was in an excellent location and it was easy to navigate. We had a small problem when our power went out, but the staff responded immediately.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Really enjoyed the property. I like staying in the old properties in the French Quarter. This is the nicest we have stayed in and the rate was reasonable. Was very nice to have a swimming pool to jump into after exploring the area. Only complaint about the stay was that the hot water was not reliable. That said, we will stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel close to all of the French Quarter"
This was a brilliant hotel. The rooms were exquisite, and the staff went out of its way to be helpful. The locations was two blocks from the famous Jean Lafitte's Bar and four blocks from the French Market. You could even take the four block walk down to St. Louis Cathedral. I will definitely be looking to return to this hotel next year!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff"
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel provincial. The rooms are lovely, the staff was very nice and helpful, and the location of the hotel is great. We really liked staying in a unique and historic hotel rather than an ordinary run of the mill hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice. good price. great location."
the price was great. the hotel was cute. clean. close to where we wanted to be. overall very good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice historic hotel"
The negatives were: 1) Morning coffee was so bad that it was undrinkable. There is good coffee in New Orleans, but I think this was a cheaper brand and it was horribly bitter. 2) Not enough light in room to read by unless you were lying on the bed. The positives were the location, which was quiet and pleasant and just around the corner from Cafe du […] Monde, and the building itself which was a nice old historic building. We stayed over New Years and then a few days after. Room was very large, comfortable, Historic, but not old and run down. Very surprised. Was very nice and comfortable, would highly recommend. In a quite part of French Quarter.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walking distance from Bourban"
The hotel is nice and rustic. Our room was what you would expect from a hotel. Great thing is the hotel is walking distance to Bourban street. It comes with a basic breakfast of bagel, bread, juice, or coffee. The only bad thing about our room was the street noise in the morning and the view of the dumpster. Not for light sleepers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beutiful from the outside, deceiving in the inside"
Beutiful patio, nice common areas, but very dark room and old furniture, breakfast VERY simpleGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, yet close to everything"
We originally booked a hotel on Bourbon Street because we wanted to be right in the middle of the New Orleans atmosphere. After walking down Bourbon Street one night, we decided that no one in our family was going to get any sleep... so we decided to move hotels. Surprisingly, just one block off Bourbon was immensely more quiet, yet you're still in […] the middle of the French Quarter. This was the perfect location! The hotel staff were extremely helpful with both hotel logistics and tourist-idea type questions. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our only concern was that the walls are fairly thin. It was easy to hear things going on in the rooms above and next to us. However, we were very happy with this hotel, would definitely be willing to stay there again, and would easily recommend it to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Provincial - French Qtr, New Orleans"
Excellent location, with an oasis-like calm in the heart of the Quarter. Parking rates seemed a little high, although still lower than pay-lots in the area. Continental breakfast definitely "continental", but nevertheless nice to have. Room was extremely comfortable, and location off the courtyard was peaceful and quiet, despite being literaly just […] steps off the streets of the French Quarter. Will definitely stay here again. "Hotel Provincial on the cool side of the quarter"
The beds were comfortable - we liked the hidden courtyards - the pools were nice and cold - close to the french market, great restaurants, and cool shops. The Louisiana pizza kitchen is good, so is the Verti Mart for late night snacking. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was perfect for this area of New Orleans, with fireplace and an old painting of a man who was a bit scary. I loved it! The breakfast could have been better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Authentic and classy New Orleans"
Provincial Hotel is authentic New Orleans located in the French Quarter close to everything in the quarter, and especially St. Louis Cathedral, Decatur St. and the French Market. The neighborhood is a quiet part of the French Quarter, but close enough to Bourbon Street to party when the beads call. Hotel rooms surround the private courtyard where its […] stately fountain provides a cool afternoon breeze for chats with friends and murmurs you to sleep at night. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans. Rooms are nicely outfitted with 1900's style furniture matching the buildings era. The beds have pillow-top mattresses and are some of the most comfortable that I've slept in. Continental breakfast is included. Parking is available. I'd definitely recommend this hotel when you're interested in getting into the feel of New Orleans. The character and style of this hotel is much better than the 4-star hotels which are so cookie-cutter, you might forget where you woke up. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location, priced well w free breakfast"
My family of 4 stayed here 4 nights and we all loved it! The location was great- centrally located yet just removed just enough to ensure quietness at night. The kids loved the two pools there. The breakfasts were very good (albeit the same old, same old). Staff were friendly and always accommodating. I will definitely book here again should we return […] to New Orleans. The Hotel Provincial was a lovely place in the heart of New Orleans. Very nice people, helpful and caring. The rooms were clean and well taken care of.
