It really depends on what people are accustomed to from hotels. From the other reviews here we were expecting it to be horrible, but it was pretty nice! Very clean with most furniture looking almost new. The front desk people were incredibly friendly and understanding of our need to check out later than 11am (by noon without a fee). Location was about […] 3-5 blocks from the French Quarter and the neighborhood was not nearly as bad as some reviewers here suggest. We also could walk to a yoga studio (Reyn Studios) which, on a side note, was amazing! As for the negatives, the pillows were not so great but we brought our own just in case - good thing! Our toilet handle broke and we had to remind them the next day before someone came to fix it so we had to manually flush. This was not a big deal to us because we are pretty self-sufficient, but I can imagine it being a problem for others. Also, our shower light was not working (again not a big deal to us). The other reviews here mention hearing noise outside, and we can confirm that so you may wish to bring a nighttime noise machine (which we did and it was just fine). All in all, we would stay here again for the convenient location and the fact that it was almost half the price of others within a couple/few blocks. Unexpected thumbs up here! This hotel was close to Bourbon Street. Some of the staff was friendly. When we arrived, they said we had a reservation, but that I needed to pay them again after I had already paid Hotels.com and showed her my receipt. I had to call Hotels.com and have them call the hotel to get it corrected. Our room was smoking after we asked for nonsmoking. The […] sheets looked like they had not been washed. The smoke detector in our room was missing. The toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall. Their was a LOT of human hair in a chair in the room. The light over the sink did not work. We were not given any towels or wash clothes for our second day. We asked twice for some and were told that they did not have any! We were only given 2 hand towels to bath with and dry off. They had breakfast, but it was only muffins, pastries, cereals and waffles that you make. Breakfast was acceptable. About 9 am, we went to the elevator on the 6th floor and the trash can was overflowing with food and trash all over the floor along with spilled drink. We arrived at the hotel about 5pm, dropped off our bags and turned on the AC then went out. When we returned that evening the room key did not work so I had to go back down to get it rekeyed. When I opened the room it smelt musty and the AC was leaking all over the floor. When I went to the front desk to complain the girl said they had been trying to […] contact me to change my room because the AC was leaking. If that’s true, why did she rekey my key card and why didn’t they turn off the AC?, it was left on leaking all over. In the new room the shower door would not close unless you lifted it up with a great amount of force, had to close it for my wife because she could not lift the shower door herself. The TV remote didn’t work either. Parking is not free at the hotel, I recommend parking across or down the street about $15 a day, much cheaper. The name sounds fancy but it’s not. The hotel is very convenient to the Superdome and the Arena, just a few blocks away. It is a long, but doable walk to the French Quarter. Parking is safe in a lot fenced in behind the hotel and the rate was reasonable and comparable to other parking in the area. The room was fairly small. The potty and shower are behind a sliding door and the sink is […] in the room, so privacy is limited for dressing. The biggest issue was early check-in. They charge a fee for checking in before the stated check-in time, which I've never encountered in many hotel stays. We arrived only 1 1/2 hours early and were told rooms were ready but we would have to pay a fee for early arrival. We chose to walk around for that time and checked in later. The wifi was not working for 5 of the 7 days we stayed having broken down several times. No security staff apparent at reception resulting in several oddballs gaining entry who were not residents.
