"Disappointing hotel experience"
The hotel was under major renovation when we arrived on May 18. We did not know about the renovation. There was no notice on the Expedia or the Marriott website. It may not have been such a disappointment if we had known. Although our room was an updated one, the halls were still under major repair with old, dirty carpet and unpainted areas. "Not impressed"
I decieded to spend a little extra money to have a room that was rated 4.5 /5 stars and was disappointed. Our 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen had 3 forks, 1 spoon, 2 bowls, 4 plates, no pots or pans. Painters tape all over the cabinets, no iron or board, peeling wallpaper, broken mirror and a ice maker that was in pieces. Online parking was said […] to be $17/day and it was $20. "Not the best NOLA has to offer."

"Please read before booking this hotel"
Old & tired property. Noisy rooms & appliances in the rooms.Un-motivated staff & not helpful. Poor management planning not enough staff to service check-ins or B'fast service. "MARRIOT DOWNTOWN : DOMMAGE !"
nous venons de passer 2 nuits au marriot downtown de new orleans et en sortons déçu. Les plus : l'accueil est plutot positif et les prestations interessantes (piscine, spa, terrain sport interieur, breakfast copieux et possibilité de manger simple gratuitement entre 17h30 et 19h30, appartement 2 pieces spacieux), le patio des appartements en jardin […] tropicale est surprenant, la proximité du centre est appreciable (possibilité de prendre le tramway sur Julia street) meme si pour des enfants cela fait loin. Les moins : pour le reste, ce fut decevant : salle de bains pas propres (des cheveux dans la poussiere le long de la douche, donc pas de nettoyage depuis longtemps ; nous avons demandé une intervention non suivi d'effet), les bords de la piscine etaient crasseux, les appartements sont bruyants (aussi bien au dessus que sur les cotés ce qui est genant dans une ville qui est reputé pour les fetards), il y a 2 toilettes dans l'appartement heureusement car ils se sont bouchés l'un apres l'autre, le quartier est en pleine restructuration donc un peu etrange et peu rassurant, le parking est payant (14$) mais le code ne sert à rien puisque la barriere etait cassé et sans surveillance la nuit. Conclusion : si on n'est pas trop regardant, l'hotel peut saverer un bon rapport qualité/prix pour une famille nombreuse, dans le cas contraire, vous risquez d'etre deçu.
