Chateau Dupre Hotel

Hotel is very old the air conditioning does not work properly. Our room was 85 during our visit. Location is great and the price is cheap.

The ambience of the Chateau Dupre is one of down-at-heel elegance very appropriate for the French Quarter of New Orleans. Only four floors, but all rooms are on 2nd through 4th floors. The one elevator had isues all three days. If you took the stairs they exited to the street not to the lobby. They have small skinny pillows, so we asked for another and they had no more. They do not have any spare pillows?

the parking is not secure and cost a fortune dont plan on using your car while you pay to have it parked, also the tub was broken in the room called for repairs they never came. Desk staff was quite friendly but was afraid to walk on the carpet it was so dirty. Beds very uncomfortable and had to wear earplugs at night it was so noisy. Garbage trucks in the middle of the night created noise that lasted all night. Not sure but maybe there is a central drop off there or something. Lighting in room was very dark. Two towels per […] guest were issued. I had reserved two rooms, one for my husband and myself and one for my daughter, her husband and 2 year old child. Our granddaughter was in our room quite a bit and we asked for more towels. I was told that only one towel per guest was issued unless I wanted to pay the extra guest fee of $15. The alarm clock was 6 hours off and was not able to be reset. I called the desk clerk and they said they would come and fix it but when they arrived 8 hours later they said it could not be reset. I asked for another clock and was told to use my cell phone. There was a lady that came on duty as a desk clerk that eventually brought us more towels and a clock. She was very nice and apologetic but overall it was a pretty bad experience. Read more

This was our 1st trip to New Orleans. The Chateau Dupree was absolutely the perfect location to everything we wanted to do. Most everything was with in walking distance or within walking from the trolley. This hotel is not new and fancy, but they also don't charge for new and fancy. The price was fair and appropriate. The rooms, halls, lobby were clean. […] Bed was of decent sleeping quality. The staff at every turn was helpful and attentive to our needs. We lucked out and found this little gem. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Beware: there is no parking, if you drive be prepared to pay for vehicle parking, we used the valet service and they were very good. There is also self parking garages nearby. Close to everything, trolley stop on Canal St. less than a block away. Less than 10 minute […] walk to all the French Quarter sites (Cafe du Monde, Bourbon St, etc). The room was better than we expected. Wonderful historic feel, comfortable beds, coffee and tea in room. There isn't much insulation from noise, but isn't that part of the historic experience? This hotel was NOT what I saw in the pictures. It is old and nasty. I actually went and stayed at a different hotel because I was so grossed out by the beds - there werent even fitted sheets on the bed. The whole place needs an overhaul - when the main lobby is such a dump I should have realized the rooms were going to be just as bad

This hotel has a lot of character. Too bad parking was $42 per day. I wish I would've known that upfront. The elevator needs to be replaced. The only thing I loved was the location.

This hotel is terrible. The rooms smell, the place is dirty and the person who checked us in had an attitude about everything. They should knock it down and rebuild a new hotel. It is beyond even fixing up. Any other hotel in New Orleans would be better!

This place was a dump! Find another hotel. The only good thing about it is it is in great location but VERY noisy at night and early morning. Our room was dingy and dark, it's possible that it was clean, but it gave the impression of uncleanliness, old bedding and towels, and very poor lighting. The hotel is in a great location in the French Quarter. The room was clean and simple. I do have some issues. They are as follows: There were 3 of us in the room and only 2 towels, when I asked the desk for another towel, she replied we were lucky to have 2 clean towels because of a broken drier. Lucky, hey? Then there are safety issues with the elevator, […] the door should automatically reopen if there is something or one trying to get in before it closes. I can't believe the Fire Department passed expection on that elevator. It is dangerous. I also noticed our room didn't have a smoke alarm, only an open hole where one use to be. Don't get a room facing Decatur Street. People coming out of the bars were yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs in the middle of the night. The hotel Chateau Dupree was clean and easy to get to all the attractions in the french quarter. The hotel is older but it was clean and comfortable. As others have said it is dated. The elevator door had to give it a little push sometimes but added to the fun. It was amusing not trouble. The area is safe . Room was a little shabby, but clean. Maid was very attentive to our needs. Front desk staff very knowledgeable on local tours, out-of-town tours and dining. Very responsive valet service. Great location: close to garden district, french quarter, & casinos. Would stay there again!
