"Close to the French Ouartet"
We loved the stay in New Orleans. The hotel was located in the center of the business district. The only thing we didn't like was the breakfast was to simple they should take an example from Country Inn Suites. The overall rate was to high also. This was not a $200.00 per night hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"First trip to New Orleans"
Loved the location of the hotel. Directly across from Harrah's Casino and 5 blocks from Bourbon St. It was too cool how the original beams, plaster and brick work and original hardwood floors were exposed through out the hotel. It definitely gave it that old timey but classy feel. The bathrooms are definitely were some attention needs to be placed. […] It definitely looked a lil wornout and boring. My only true issue was the $32.00 per night parking. Thank goodness we were only there for one night so we were able to park via meter parking for free until 0700 that next morning. Overall experience was unmatched by those chain hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place"
We enjoyed our one night stay here before leaving for our cruise the next day. The hotel is near the Port and made for easy access. The parking in the front of the hotel is limited so trying to wait for a spot in order to check in may take a few trips around the block.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel in an old converted coffee warehouse. Convenient to the French Quarter. No on-site parking. Valet parking was $32 a day regular price. Thank goodness we got a 50% discount through hotels.com. Also we were charged a $9.95 fee for the wi-fi and continental breakfast which was advertised on hotels.com as free.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was so wonderful and very helpful. The hotel could use a little face lift and once you get there they charge extra fees which we werent expecting but the location was great. Id stay there again if they did away with the fees.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My Ambassador Experience"
My husband and I decided to do a spontaneous getaway on February 25,2013, and headed to New Orleans from Houston, Texas. We found a good deal online at Hotels.com and decided to book it since neither of has ever stayed there before. The location is right at the foot of the River walk, across the street from Harrah's casino, and down the street the infamous […] New Orleans French Quarters. The inside of the hotel took me back to a time when class was the trend and chic was its lover. Our room reminded me of being at home in my grandmother very classy boudoir without her jewelry, but with the king size bed, beautiful armouir, very spacious writing desk, a room safe for your valuables, side tables with chair, a bar, large closet, and very nice laboratory. We even felt like royalty or the upper class from our stay at the Ambassador, and looking forward to our return for the 2013 New Orleans Jazz fest. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old World Charm, Close to Several Attractions"
I had a pleasant stay at the Ambassador Hotel, stayed for two nights in a "Superior King" room. The staff was accommodating and cheerful. If you are looking for the most modern and "perfect" hotel, this is not the place for you. The hotel is located in an old renovated building downtown, so nothing is level and true, but the room has a very high ceiling […] and feels spacious. The hallways smell a little stale, but the room had a good ventilation system and did not have an odor. Besides the occasional sound of foot steps upstairs and the outside noises, the hotel was peacefully quiet. The dislikes...the hardwood floors in the room were extremely slippery. Walk cautiously. I did not care for the fact that many amenities, that are typically included in the hotel cost, were all separate extra charges. Make sure the read the "fine print". only thing not like was resort fee and parking fee in new Orleans there is no were to park but hotel cool nice and clean wooden floors squeaky old fashion feel would stay againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The window in our room looked right at another brick wall. I'm sure if I would have opened the window and stuck out my arm I could have touched the brick wall. It was a bummer to not be able to see outside. If you stay at this hotel request to have a room with a window that faces the streets!!! We really liked the location. We were thankful that the […] hotel was in a quiet area. It's close to the Trolly and still within walking distance of the Riverwalk, Harrah's, Burbon Street and the WWII museum. "Avoid at all Costs"
My stay at the hotel was horrible. First, I had to switch rooms because the one I was put in originally was filthy. Next, the housekeeping staff took the "Do Not Disturb" sign from inside the room and put in on the door TWICE so they would not need to clean my room while we were out. I had to get get my own clean towels and new toiletries both nights. […] The clerk confirmed this had happened before. The manager told me the next morning that he was very sorry and I would hear from someone within a couple days to help rectify the situation. It has been two months and I have heard nothing. There are many hotels in the area, do yourself a favor and avoid this one, please. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed here for our 4th year wedding anniversary! We wanted to stay in a hotel with old New Orleans charm. And we found it! The service was oustanding and the staff was very courteous! Will stay again, and will recommend to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not bad for the price"
After being invited to a party at a Bourbon Street hotel balcony, this hotel fit the bill for the price. As a place to sleep and get a shower, it was great. As other reviewers noted, its a dated hotel but Harrah's is right up the street, across Poydras from Mother's and a few blocks to the parades on Canal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad stay"
We payed for a king suite and got a small room. We were told to come back later after 4 in the afternoon. They had not cleaned our room yet. I am sure we got the wrong room because it was not a king suite. I love New Orleans and this by far the worst room I have stayed at. Stay somewhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"amazing price and decent stay"
unbeatable rate made this the best stay for a couple weeknights of a 5day NOLA trip - I opted for street parking (feeding a few meters) to save extra by skipping the valet parking. Bed was just comfortable enough. Hardwood floors were kind of charming, but points off for missing closet door. Ambassador is close to Harrah's casino & WW2 museum, but getting […] to the middle of the FQ is a trek. Fitness facility had no free weights, and just two noisy treadmills. "Exceeded Expectations"
I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel, especially after having read previous reviews! The front desk staff was helpful, friendly, and I was checked in immediately upon arrival. Our room was spacious with a king bed, and despite being situated over the bar (and facing the street) it was quiet! Yes, the floors are hardwood and there is exposed brick. […] My boyfriend and I found these features to be a nice change from the chain hotel look. Everything was clean, with lots of towels and a big bathroom. The air conditioning worked very well, as did the heat. The hotel bar was awesome, with fair prices and great hours. It was huge, and always had a couple locals in it too. The only thing we would have liked to see was a fridge in the room (not a deal breaker for me, but if you had kids I would see this being a problem). The doors to the room were a little unusual, as they weren't solid wood/steel, but glass paneled with shades, but again this really didn't matter at all for functionality or privacy. We were there during the weekend and the beginning of the week, and despite having a full hotel during the weekend noise was a non-issue. It is a quick 5-10 minute walk to Bourbon Street, and a block away from the riverwalk, casino, and aquarium. Lots of bars filled with locals all around as well as a wide variety of restaurants, ranging from breakfast nooks to 5 star steakhouses. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel! "Stay Away for Your Own Good!!!!"
I have never written a review before because most of the hotels I have stayed in have been pretty decent up to this point. I dont know who gave this hotel good reviews, because as you can see they didn't leave comments so thats fishy to begin with. My husband and I reserved a room for 2 nights. We were charged $32 for parking each night we were here […] and $10 each night for an amenities fee ( for "free" internet and continental breakfast). We talked to the hotel staff and told them that the parking and amenity fee was not listed on our reservation or website. They just apologized, but did nothing about it. It was a cold night in December and when we got to the room the heat was turned off and there was a broken window in our bathroom. In the morning we went downstairs for the "free" continental breakfast to find out that the only thing they were serving us were oranges, tiny bite sized muffins, iced water and coffee. We asked what was going on and the staff told us the order had not come in at 6:30 that morning so thats all they had. This is a hotel right? Why would you not have food on hand and why would you order breakfast an hour before you need to serve it? If you are smart, don't stay here! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not my best stay"
I tend to like staying at Ambassador bc it's 2min walk from Harrahs, 4min from Canal & bout 7min from bourbon. The front desk clerk my past two trips was very helpful! This particular stay was not my best stay. We arrived around 4 & started to get dress, I sprayed hairspray on my hair & set the fire alarm off instantly. Took bout 15 mins to get taken […] care of but the maintenance guy was very nice. Had toilet trouble upon arrival to where the water would rise all the way to the rim as if to over flow but would slowly go down. So we finally left the room and once we got back around 5am my fiancé used the restroom, flushed toilet & came to bed. I heard water running so I went Chk and water was EVERYWHERE in bathroom. Being that I was so tired & dreaded the fact to call maintenance again and i not get any rest that I jus put all towels on floor & layed back down & let front desk know upon Chk out. "Charges for amenities"
The hotel was very average with below average service. Location was good but the rooms were very bare and they charge additionally for amenities such as wifi, faxes, etc regardless if you utilized them. They're justification was that its a locally owned hotel. Why would t you include it in the rates? Will not be staying again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Most of the staff were great people"
Stayed for three nights. First night was in a terribly noisy room, as if walls and ceiling were non-existent. At check-in in eveningg, desk clerk was friendly but much into herself. When we asked for quite room, she just kept on stressing that all rooms were different. We moved next day to a far better room, in a corner, on 3rd floor: what an improvement! […] Desk Clerk was also a darling, friendly, apologetic, showed empathy and remembered our names throughout stay. Her name is Akasa, she saved our stay and for her, we will return. We will also be sure to ask for corner, high floor room! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Eh...It was OK"
My husband and I stayed at the Ambassador for 4 nights for our honeymoon recently. While my expectations were not particularly high based on the reviews I had read, I was still surprised by my lackluster feelings about the hotel. Please, do not get me wrong; the staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations for places to eat, and our room was […] always nice and clean, but the overall feeling was missing. The historical aspects of the room had been whitewashed of their charm, and we found ourselves staring at blank, lifeless walls. If you are hoping for some that special New Orleans charm this is not the hotel for you. Spend a little more make sure you're getting the experience you want. I wish I had, because this is not a boutique hotel. And fair warning...the walls are INCREDIBLY THIN! So if you're planning on spending any time in your room or if you like to sleep in you really should go somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We were pleased"
Enjoyed the old hotel charm of the Ambassador with its wood floors and columns in our room. No complaints about the condition of the hotel or room...we really enjoyed it. My only complaint is we had to have our room key "rekeyed" at least 6 times from some reason because it stopped functioning. Not sure what was going on. It went from funny to irritating. […] Also, I was not happy that you end up paying $10 extra for "mandatory" charges for each night of stay PLUS $30 a day for parking in the open lot across the street. So whatever you book your stay for with HOTELS.com, tack on another $40 per day. We were still pleased with the hotel and its location to the French Quarter and sights. "Just OK"
The location and cleanliness were great. I have rated the hotel as just ok because the reception staff were not informative. For example, they did not tell us about the inclusive breakfast which I would expect them to. The main thing though is that many of the hotel rooms do not have windows and we were initially in one of them. It was like being in […] a cave. We asked to change and this was accomodated but reception initiall said they could only 'try' to do this. Be warned - if you like to see the outside world make sure youo ask for it. "Charming place in nice location"
It was a nice place with charm. When we tried getting a room the first time the front desk person was rude and deserves a different job. After that experience, the rest were delightful. Could hear the bar below which wasn't great. The room was very nice although the bathroom could use an update. Overall, very nice and would consider again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel - Very good location"
Spent 7 wonderful days/nights at the Ambassador Hotel! The hotel is approximately 2 blocks from Canal Street/the French Quarter. It is convient to everything, tho a bit of a walk to Frenchman Street and the opposite side of the Quarter...no big deal however. The hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable...and exceedingly QUITE! The upper rooms (2nd […] floor and up - have no windows.) Our room (1st floor) had a window, but looked into a brick wall. There is a nice bar connected to the hotel. The surrounding neighborhood, though we didn't take advantage, appeared safe and interesting (Emeril's was a 1/2 block away.) Overall, we had a GREAT stay...and would/will return in the future! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Simply OK."
My stay at this hotel was decent. The location is EXCELLENT.. It is very close to all the attractions that you have to see while visiting this city..it was nice to forget about the car after a 6 hr drive from Houston,TX and just walk around the city everywhere we went. After the bars, it was very easy to just get a bicycle cab rider and it wasn't expensive […] to get back. The hotel itself was OKAY. The bed was a little hard and the room very simple. It really was OKAY. The staff at the bar were nice and friendly. I did NOT like the $10.00 a day charge for "amenities". Also, did NOT like the parking fee (it is $32.00 a night unless you present a 50% off parking coupon.) I ended up paying $56.00 on top of the reservation price. Next time, I will probably stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel for the same price. If you are planning on walking everywhere and forgetting about your car, stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was alright"
The service was okay. My room was extemely small for two. The inside of the hotel looke old and weathered. It was descent especially since we spent zero time in the actual hotel. However it was extremely close to evenrthing, walking distance, so we didnt have to spend any money on gas or parking around the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was really cool and the location was great. Take advantage of the Hotels.com parking special because parking in the NOLA business district costs around $30 / night. They parked our car Friday evening and we didn't need it until Sunday when we left. Walking to the French Market, Bourbon Street, and all of the restaurants we could ask for was […] easy and safe on the big streets. My only complaint is that the ceiling fan was so loose that we couldn't use it. If I hadn't already got comfortable in the room I would have asked for a different one. Overall great experience. The price of the room is just right! It is smack dab in the middle of evrything! Our room was clean and nice and cold since it was the middle of June! Yes there was not room service or little fancy things that youwould find at a more expensive hotel, but if you are looking for a place to lay your head or just to get away for the night or two this is […] the place. I read many reviews about the hotel and none of them were true. My only negative about the hotel is the one elevator the valet is very slow, they say to call down 10 minutes ahead of time i would probably do 30/45 min and the walls are paper thin.
