The room we stayed in was horrible! Extremely noisy. It was near a street so all night we could hear the traffic and the garbage trucks because of the one pane windows. The bed was not even fastened to the headboard. It felt as though the box springs had been broken so there was very little support on the mattress. The ice machine was not functioning […] either. When I first walked into the lobby, I loved the look of the hotel. The interior brick walls are very unique. Our room was small with no windows to the outside. I'm sure this was converted to a hotel from some other type of building - again the walls were brick with wood floors. The "window" was actually to the hallway, which was different, but it wasn't […] bad. The only thing I did not like about the hotel was an extra fee that was mandatory when we arrived. I'd already paid for the hotel through hotels.com, but they have a mandatory $9.98 (for wifi, gym, etc) and a $50 credit card hold. I read so many reviews about this place, some negative and some positive. I found this hotel to be exactly as it states, convenient to local activities and a combination of the new and the old. Yes it does have a fee for parking, and a convenience fee, but both of those charges are clearly stated...I had half off parking, and the wifi and quick breakfast […] was important for me to pay the extra (insignificant) amount. I got such a great deal through hotels.com that neither fee made much difference in the price.. The parking attendant paid special attention to what ever we needed, the concierge was helpful, and the front desk clerks were incredible accommodating.They upgraded our room for free as the room we reserved was no longer available. This is not a five star hotel, but the service was so good and the people were so nice that I will definitely come back again!! Read more

The staff was very accommodating, the room was nice with hardwood floors and exposed brick, the ac worked fantastically, the bathroom was spacious and clean. Only the carpets in the hallway looked worn (hence the 4/5 rating on condition), but it really didn't bother me. Location was great! My stay at the Ambassador was quite pleasant. I had originally planned to stay down the street at historic hotel where I have stayed before, but funds were tight and so cancelled that one and re-booked here at about half the cost. The lobby is not as grand, but for this trip all I wanted was a clean place to sleep and a quiet place to work ( neither […] which would have been possible if I had been at my graduates apt). The continental breakfast was welcomed from the overpriced restaurants and the location was perfect, next to higher starred hotels, at a fraction of the cost. Close to the trolley it was great to get down to Tulane where I needed to be most of the time. Read more

It looks like very neat on the pictures but nothing had been renewed. Beds are terrible and very noisy. Wood hard floors are never vacuumed and not washed.The tiles in the bathroom were so old and broken, but at least clean. We were so upset. Never again

Small rooms, good location, decent service. Was charged for valet parking which we didn't use. They credited immediately but I did see this in another review so I would physically check out to avoid having to deal with this after the fact.

The building is one of the original structures in the area but with a modern twist. I like the wooden flooring in the room. The room was very clean and homely, I like the ceiling fan even though that AirCon work just fine. The carpet in the hallways show some wear and should be replace soon. The hotel is walking distance from much of the night life […] in the area which is great. The biggest issue is parking. The hotel have valet parking that cost quite a bit a night since their parking area is a block down the street. It would have been easier parking outside the downtown area and taking a taxi to the hotel just to drop off your luggage. The staff was always pleasant and very helpful. Air conditioner wasn't working well, hot in room. Toilet wouldn't flush. No breakfast in the breakfast room, was told truck didn't arrive, so no more food. Wooden floors, so you hear every move the person is making above you and next to you, kids got very scared. I was not pleased that Continential Breakfast "was not" included in room rate and that I was billed for breafast, internet service ( that I did not need) and misaleanious cost ( $9.98 per day).. I should have been made aware of these additioanl charges before hand.
