"Affordable rooms in the heart of New Orleans!"
Excellent location; decent rooms. Valet parking was sub-par.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exceptionally quiet room"
Perfect for sleeping in; the very popular Mothers Restaurant was a half-block away, with rightfully-praised New Orleans home cooking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent Stay"
The rooms are very small and a air conditioner broke outside of our window. So, we were woken up at 6am due to the noise. But, it was a reasonable price for what you get. Though, the mandatory $10 fee for internet/phone/breakfast is really annoying. Plus, just add it to your price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to all must-see sights."
Confortable for every thing during my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for family vacation."
This hotel offered a great value for its price and location. It was great for visiting the River Walk, Aquarium, Insectarium, etc. for our family vacation in NOLA. The room was comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accomodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location"
Overall it was a good experience. Loved the proximity to our favorite restaurant. Loved the character of the hotel. It could use some updates to the overall cleanliness and comfort but I would recommend this hotel especially to conventioneers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Stay was ok. The bed was a little more firm than i like it and it was noisy due to the activity of the surrounding area, but that comes with the location. Hotel staff was friendly but the bathroom had some sheetrock work near the bathtub that had not been painted. Overall, it was ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't need a night light."
First they put us in a room with the noise of a jet engine, had to request to be moved, next room had a glass front door, let a lot of light in from the hallway, didn't need a night light.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for our needs"
We stayed in the Ambassador for one night, which was the night before we set sail on our Cruise to the Caribbean. Not only was this hotel in the perfect location, we were able to leave our cars there for a reasonable rate per day. The decor of the Hotel is just what I love, the old wood floors, the exposed brick, simply charming. I read some other reviews […] about the squeaky floors and paper thin walls, but I love old squeaky (beautiful wood) floors, and we did not notice any excess noise from paper thin walls. All in all, great location, great room, great value for your buck, and a bonus of reasonable rates for extended parking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"5 night stay for New years and the Sugar Bowl"
Before I booked had read some negatives about the hotel. We found it to be great. Our room was at the end of the hall so noise was not bad at all. I also travel with wax earplugs. Rooms are large and ours was very comfy. Staff was great both hotel and bar. Breakfast was plenty. It says continental not full hot breakfast. Lots of coffee, juice, toast, muffins, sweet […] rolls, cereal, and fruit. Location is the best. I think the previous complaints came from folks who should stay at the Hyatt. If you want a real NOLA hotel this is your place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little good and a little bad"
The lobby and bedroom were nice and had a great boutique feel. The bathroom was in desperate need of an upgrade though and the "continental" breakfast looked like they took a quick sweep through the kitchen and set out the leftovers. Great location, easy to walk to almost everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Customer service lacking"
The overall location and condition of the hotel were good for the price. The customer service was far from acceptable. There was only one person at the desk for 4:00 check in as well as check out. Asked to see card used for reservation and proceeded to swipe the card again. When asked the third time, after denying swiping the card in front of me, what […] I was being charged for the clerk advised only the 9.95 amenities fee. However, they in fact placed an additional 50.00 hold on the card. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I loved the room. The continental breakfast was not very good. No scrambled eggs and bacon? I had to ask for water to be put out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Only if you can't afford better!"
Hotel is in convenient location but service is abysmal. Manager was great but understaffed and many staff who really don't care. When we arrived we were told that there is a "mandatory" amenities fee of $9.95! When we talked to manager he said that it is not mandatory and had cost subtracted. Parking is an extra 31 dollars and they tell you they can […] get your car in 5 minutes. Try 45 minutes - we were late for reservations because of it. Hotel is run-down and not especially clean. Again, Manager was very helpful but he is running a poor property. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel staff was very unfriendly. The hotel itself was charming and nice. Our room had a large tub, which was great to soak in, but the shower head had poor flow and water pressure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very Disappointing experience"
The only positives about the hotel are its location and the excellent valet service it provides, everything else is extremely disappointing. The rooms provided had no windows, the A/C wouldnt cool the room till very late at night, the bathrooms were not clean, the bathtub was not clean, the complimentary breakfast was a joke- only bread, cereal and […] eggs. The food was not refilled frequently, only one toaster in the breakfast hall. The business center has just one PC. The pictures of the room on the website are completely misleading. The concierge and valet attendants are very helpful but otherwise the Ambassador hotel is not a good place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, walking distance to many New Orleans destinations. Staff extremely helpful. Would not recommend fourth floor accommodations for light sleepers as roofing unit ocassionally generated noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"OK Hotel but has extra FEES!"
The hotel staff was not very friendly (terrible attitude actually) but the hotel itself was OK. Did NOT like the fact that the impose a MANDATORY "amenity" fee. It's a dirty trick to make it look like the price of the hotel is cheaper. If it's mandatory then it's PART OF THE PRICE!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, tricky pricing strategy! (hidden fees)"
The hotel was good. Well located and seemed well maintained. The concierge had quite a bit of an attitude (rude) and took a very long time to get us checked in. I hate to lower my rating due to bad employees, but they should really have had a friendlier person at the front desk. I was definitely disappointed to find out that they have a MANDATORY "amenity" […] fee of $9.99 per night. Parking was an additional $32 per night, which after I had declined the valet service they decided to offer it reduced at $16 per night (I ended up taking the $16 per night valet service). So they come up as a less expensive hotel when you rank by price, but in the end, they're more expensive!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good, but could have been better..."
My wife and I stayed at the Ambassador for four nights 9/1 through 9/4/2012. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but it seemed at busy times that there should have been one or two more on duty to handle the rush. Nice ambiance to the property and room, but there were several maintenance issue in our room: spackled but unfinished repairs on wall, […] inoperable drawers on main storage unit, some evidence of water damage and staining in bathroom. Main problem was lack of soundproofing - noise from other guests in halls and rooms above was a real negative. The hotel is a manageable walk to the French Quarter and to very good restaurants in the surrounding arts district. Bed was comfortable. Small but well-equipped exercise facility. Would we stay at the Ambassador again? Maybe. It's a reasonable value. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We had a great time here. Convenient parking or valet. Parking a bit pricey but so it all parking in New Orleans. Front desk staff super friendly and helpful. "Bad Valet"
Room was clean and the old hardwood floors and reproduction furniture added charm. However, the room was on first floor and very noisy late at night and early in the morning along with slamming doors keep us up at night. The valet was our biggest issue. There was an I-POD that was stoled from the console of my truck after being parked for 1 full day […] by the hotel valet attendant. With no break-in evident, the only way the IPOD came up missing, was someone with a key. HMMMM, whom might that be? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK"
Room was very, very small for a king-size bed. Bathroom was less than great. Everything was clean, though. Breakfast was adequate, although nothing special at all. "Okay for price & location, but bad service"
Bad first impression; girl behind the desk was rude when I asked about early check-in and told her that I had called in advance to ask, but got no answer. She said to me with a smirk and a mouth full of food, "Well, we had a full house so there's no way we could clean up a room for you early anyway" instead of apologizing for missing & not returning […] my call even though the voicemail indicates that I could leave a message and have someone call me back. I could understand the concept but her sour attitude was unnecessary. It took 30 minutes for the valet attendant to come park my car (which was $32/day) & there was an 'engineer' in my room talking on his phone when I went in. He was very nonchalant and almost acted as though I interrupted his conversation. Maybe that's just how things are in New Orleans, but I'm not used to it. The room was clean, it was cheap and near the pier, but I wish I could get my money back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, Extra charges, Bad mattress"
The Ambassador is located 3 blocks form everything we wanted to do in town. The sights that were not nearby were easy to get to by using the trolly cars - just 3 blocks from the hotel. The room was comfortable and the bathroom large for a hotel. However the mattress was very hard and had a plastic undercover that made an awful noise every time you moved! "Parking is EXTRA along with a daily "Service" fee"
Hotels.com does NOT tell you about the $32/day parking fee and extra $9.95/day service fee! We had not planned on an added $100 over what we had already paid!! Was not a good way to start the visit...the staff person on duty did reduce the parking fee by half so at least that was not so bad. We later learned that parking can cost upwards of $50-100+/day […] at many other places. Other issues we had was being woken up by 9am on the 4th of July due to construction going on over our heads that the hotel manager was not even aware was going on! and then by other hotel customers who started fighting the following morning at 8am! I was disappointed that the room did not look close to the pictures shown with wood flooring since we were looking for the historic feel that was advertised but we did have a brick wall in the room. My inlaws had a smaller room which did not have either and they did not get the cot they ordered nor would it have even fit since they had a tiny room. Apparently all the rooms are different and whether you have 1 or 2 beds doesn't seem to matter but I would always go for the 2 beds so you don't feel like you are sleeping in a closet! Despite the letdowns and disappointments the manager was willing to wave the extra fees for our stay and give us a free night's stay in order to get a "better" experience of the hotel. We enjoyed our time in New Orleans and would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location to the port of New Orleans"
I was not happy with the lack of information not provided to us before our stay. Hotel check in desk was an unorganized mess. If you had not pre-register then you were moved to the side. I assumed that since I had a reservation that was all I needed. I was not happy with the check in at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not all rooms here are created equally!"
This hotel tries to be an upscale hotel but isn't quite there. Our 1st night was in a room with a small window that only overlooked a 4 story roughly 5 foot square shaft whose purpose seemed to be for venting the hotel room ac units for the rooms connected to the shaft (not much of a view). The ceiling fan didn't work in this room and the room got hot […] at night and had lots of running water noises (room 213). We were changed to a different room (room 324) the room had the same size beds and was supposed to be the same type of room but was much more spacious and had a large window with a nice view of the street and was a much nicer room overall. This room did not have a ceiling fan but did not need one since the ac worked well. FYI I was told they only had valet parking at over 30 bucks per night but I later found a parking lot about a block away with a sign marking it as a lot for Ambassador Hotel guest parking. "Not a bad deal if you know what to expect."
Its a very old building that's be updated to a modern hotel. Is near the casino in and walking distance to Bourbon, French Quarter and Superdome. They will add $10 for the safe and internet, even if you don't want it so be warned. I was expecting this and asked for 10 off my room and got it. :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel! Great location! Great Deal!"
Wow! If you are looking for a great hotel, with history, quaintness and walking distance to Superdome & French Quarter this is the place to stay! This was our family's first time booking through hotels.com and there were so many deals to choose we weren't sure if our choice of the Ambassador was going to be spot on, but let me tell you it was! The staff, […] the rooms and the fun sports bar was more than we expected. It was my first time in NOLA and this hotel definently added to the great time our family had there. The hotel is very clean, the staff was extrordinarily nice and the location to all we wanted to do was perfect for our family of 5 and our 5 month old grandaughter. Valet service was great, and because of the hotels location, once we checked in, we didn't need our car again until we were checking out. We walked everywhere! Mother's is on the corner, I recommend eating there, as well as Harrah's Casino right across the street! You are only a few blocks from the French Quarter and Bourbon street too! If you are there for a Saints game, the hotel sports bar is the place to watch it! What a fun fan group and staff they had working there. It was such a great introduction to the city of NOLA I couldn't be more pleased. We will definently book with hotels.com again and for sure stay at our go to hotel... the Ambassador. If you want a place to stay that offers a great deal, nice rooms and even better location, you've found it. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Way Overpriced"
Even though our trip was during the Sugar Bowl, this hotel was not nearly worth what we spent. It took 3 times to get our room right at check in, we lacked hot water, the complimentary breakfast was ridiculously basic (not even bagels). The only thing that was decent was the location to the French Quarter. The quaintness of it being a refurbished Coffee […] Warehouse could have been nice if the amenites were up to par.
