"All in the swank"

The room was larger than a usual hotel room and it was clean. But it had no window. (First time staying in a hotel room with no window!!). More importantly during the night there was constant noise in the water pipes, like someone was banging on them with a hammer. I could hardly sleep. "ambassador hotel march stay"
The first room they put me in was absolutely beautiful - the hardwood floors, high ceilings, and exposed brick they advertise online. What they failed to tell me is there was a bar with an outdoor patio literally right outside my window. I think the person who booked my room assumed I was in nola to party because I'm young, but I was here for a conference […] and wasn't able to fall asleep until 3am when people left. In the morning I requested a new room, so I checked out and left my stuff at the front desk for a few hours and came back. When I went to my new room, it was 1/3 of the size and my window opened to a brick wall. Whatever, it's not like I was planning on spending much time there. It would have been nice to have a comparable room since I payed plenty to stay there, or dare I say a larger bed or some kind of perk for putting up with the bar without being nasty about it. But then I realized that the previous residents had left food in the closet that was never cleaned up, and there was black hair all over the bed and the bathroom. WHAT? What kind of place doesn't clean their room completely? I was grossed out but like I said, not spending time there, so I shut up and stayed put. The next day I put out a DND sign because I didn't lock anything up - when I came back from the conference the sign had been taken down and my bed made anyway. Love the location but the hotel rooms need lots of maintenance. The hotel room where we were had very loud neighbors. The floor had a huge soft spot just as you came in. Its just a matter of time before it falls in and someone gets hurt. The wood floors were beautiful but too slick. You had to hold on to something to walk so you wouldn't fall down. We were not provided with much concern for losing a nights sleep due to room being directly across from a club/parking lot that had a very noisy crowd. It was as though the party was in our room. "Disappointment"
The hotel description is of a quaint, antique style boutique facility. The reality is quite opposite. Room furnishings are a mix of styles and some seem garage sale variety. The tile in bathroom was very poorly done and sink was cracked. The exposed brick wall had at least four different brick styles patched in, and not well done. We went down for the […] continental breakfast, which we were forced to pay for, and everything was taken away 30 minutes before breakfast was scheduled to end. The hotel imposes a mandatory "amenities fee" covering wi-fi, phone, fitness center and continental breakfast. I told the desk clerk that we did not desire any of those services and he told me all guests were required to pay the fee. Parking is an additional $32 per night. But the parking lot is directly across the street from the hotel entrance. You can park your own car for a lot less. And when the valet brought our car in the morning all the mirrors were moved. Also we found all of the staff, except for the desk clerk, to be rude and mostly un-helpful. When we asked the dining room attendant to bring us some milk and something to eat, she seemed annoyed and didn't say a word. And at least a dozen people came into the room after us and each had to request service for their paid continental breakfast. Finally when our car was brought from the parking lot, the attendant waited for a tip but made no effort to assist us with loading the luggage in the trunk of our car. We won't be back. I have never written a review before because most of the hotels I have stayed in have been pretty decent up to this point. I dont know who gave this hotel good reviews, because as you can see they didn't leave comments so thats fishy to begin with. My husband and I reserved a room for 2 nights. We were charged $32 for parking each night we were here […] and $10 each night for an amenities fee ( for "free" internet and continental breakfast). We talked to the hotel staff and told them that the parking and amenity fee was not listed on our reservation or website. They just apologized, but did nothing about it. It was a cold night in December and when we got to the room the heat was turned off and there was a broken window in our bathroom. In the morning we went downstairs for the "free" continental breakfast to find out that the only thing they were serving us were oranges, tiny bite sized muffins, iced water and coffee. We asked what was going on and the staff told us the order had not come in at 6:30 that morning so thats all they had. This is a hotel right?
