The W New Orleans, built in 1999, is located in New Orleans, La., three blocks from the French Quarter. Harrah's Casino stands directly across the street.
Hotel Features.
The hotel's blue-light-bathed Whiskey Blue, the popular Rande Gerber bar, is located just off the lobby. Safe-deposit box is available at the front desk. Innovatively cooked Southern dishes are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Zoë on the second floor--some meals may not be served daily. The W New Orleans' rooftop pool is ringed by private pool cabanas (surcharge) with televisions. The complimentary SWEAT fitness facility is open 24 hours. Wireless Internet access is free in public areas. Guests can enjoy a music library.
Guestrooms.
The hotel offers 410 guestrooms in a 23-story building overlooking downtown New Orleans. The contemporary decor features black, white and red color schemes, with framed photos gracing the black and white walls. Marble accented bathrooms offer Bliss Spa toiletries, makeup mirrors, curved shower rods, and terry-lined spa bathrobes. In-room massages and facials can be arranged by appointment. All beds feature signature bedding with pillowtop mattresses, 400-thread count Egyptian cotton linens, hypoallergenic feather pillows, and down comforters. Pillow menus are also available. Amenities include wireless and wired (high-speed) Internet access for a fee, coffee/tea makers, CD players, iPod docking station and DVD players. 27-inch TVs with cable service, Internet access (surcharge), and OnCommand Video are provided. Phones with speakerphone are included. Pets are pampered with the W Dog Bed, toys, and food and water bowls.

Zoë - This sleek restaurant on the hotel's second floor is where southern cuisine meets signature style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A typical meal opens with escargot and onion tarts and proceeds to quail salad and trout amandine. Some meals may not be served daily.
Whiskey Blue - Just off the hotel's entrance is this upscale local bar, where the mood lighting and designer-wardrobed staff make it feel like it's always 1 AM, no matter the hour. Cocktails are served from 5 PM to 2 AM Monday through Thursday and from 5 PM to 4 AM Friday and Saturday.

The hotel is close to the French Quarter and easily accessible however the room was much too small. Oddly shaped so that you walk into a wall upon entering the room. Felt more closet like. "Great stay during Univ. of Louisiana"
Great stay at the W as always. It was loud just due to the crowds in New Orleans for the U of L game but everyone was good natured and drinking and partying and it really was a fantastic game. Saturday night is always busy game night in NOLA so nothing we didn't expect. This is a great place to stay if you want the French Quarter within walking distance. The hotel is great and everyone did their best to make me feel comfortable including $30 credit at the bar! That said I was only going to be there until 3am before leaving for the airport and didn't get the key to my room until after 430pm. The service and room was great! The wall paper in the hallways was held up with masking tape and the carpet was worn. "Next to Harrah's Casino : )"
I was attending a Seminar directly across the street at Loews, so the location was great. "The W Hotel in New Orleans"
This Hotel Has a beautiful presentation. Beautiful decor and many lounging areas. Zoe Restaurant with in the hotel has great food and if you eat at the bar you will never be bored with bartender, Rashad's stories. The entire staff is friendly, especially Mr. Kevin at "Wheels" (the valet service). Although I didn't take advantage of this service because […] I had my own rental, they do offer a complimentary "taxi" service by Acura. They can drop you off anywhere and you just have to cab your way back to hotel. The pool is a nice treat with plenty of lounge beds and cabanas with TVs in them. The only reason why I didnt rate this hotel higher us because when I checked into my room, although my room looked and smell clean, my bathroom was not. It appeared as if the cleaning staff decided to use the bathroom right before they left my room so the bathroom was not flushed. When I brought this up with the front desk, although they where very apologetic, and send someone to clean bathroom, I was dissapointted they did not do anything to make up for it. "Loud and a bit less than I usually expect from W"
This hotel is a very typical W hotel in many ways. The decor and vibe are very W like. I also usually find W hotels to be fairly loud and raucous in general especially if they have a nightclub or bar in the lobby. This hotel was loud in the main areas and also the hallways. Many of the rooms have adjoining doors and you can hear people talking at a […] normal level next door. The first room I was in had an adjoining door and I could hear them blow their nose. They were a loud group, so I asked to move. The staff were great and moved me to another room without an adjoining door! This helped a great deal. The vent ducts for air conditioning however are poorly designed. I could hear very clearly conversations and other noises through my air conditioning ducts all night. I could be in the bed which was a good 10 feet from the duct and hear people. Weird. Haven't had that problem before at a hotel like the W. The room was in decent shape, wasn't super clean. Housekeeping was missing a lot. The food was great! Room service was good, arrived fast and hot. And the hotel cafe was good. "Overall very nice, but some issues"
I had a conference at the Hilton Riverside and did NOT want to stay there so saved money and increased value staying at The W. All very nice but I was next to room that was getting worked on and "drilling" sound that started at 8:30 was very loud. I'm sure that they would have moved me, but I had unpacked and was only going to be in room for an hour […] before conference began. Also wireless in room wasn't strong enough doe my Airbook to pickup so I had to go to lobby for free wireless in 30 minute doses. I expected a 5 star and got a 2 star. After the glitz from the lobby, the trip was downhill. $40 parking! $18 internet access fee! "Great location; attention to detail lacking"
This hotel has an excellent location: a few blocks from the French Quarter, across the street from the casino, and one block from Mother's Cafe. I loved the location! The lobby is very modern and comfortable; i particularly liked the outdoor couches that they had on a small patio area. However, my guest room was not adequately ready when I checked-in […] on the first evening. Upon arrival, my guest room clearly needed vacuuming (debris was all over the floor) and the bathroom was missing hand towels. It made me wonder whether the cleaning woman simply forgot to finish cleaning this room earlier in the day. The first night I ate in the hotel's restaurant. The food was fine, but the service was the worst I've ever experienced. I dine out a lot and this was the first time in my life where I actually had to consider what an appropriate tip is for such poor service ($1.00??? 5%???). I had the misfortune of being in New Orleans during the water contamination outbreak. I was impressed with the immediate actions taken by the hotel to insure that its guests had access to bottled water and clean ice. Before I heard anything on the news, the hotel had already written a letter to its guests and slipped a copy under each guest's door, explaining the city-wide public health situation and identifying the cautionary measures taken by the hotel. This was my first time at any W and I was excited, but I would not stay at another one again out of my own pocket: Pros: -Modern Design -Friendly Staff -Service was considerate and timely -House music is played in the 2nd floor lounge. Cons: -Placed in a room that smelled of smoke initially. -Next room we moved to had a bathroom with no tub. Just […] a shower floor with a drain where water would flood to the door and toilet area. -The mashed sweet potatoes that came with my duck at the restaurant tasted like horse manure. -Beware of getting a room with the handicap closet. The closet hanging bar is low to the ground and no bar at the top. The closets are really small here and there are no dressers for storage. The rooms are small in general. -Wifi is not free, but you can sign onto their lobby wifi but you get kicked out every 30 mins and have to login again. -Their business center consists of two computers & a printer in the lobby. -Across the street from Harrah's, but a bit further from Bourbon, Convention Center and the French Quarter. -Parking is $35/day and food is pricey. It's the W - what more do you need to say. Great rooms, comfortable beds, SPG points, etc. Only major - and I mean I would consider staying somewhere else next time - was the gouging they charge for valet service overnight.
