We were in New Orleans for Jazz Fest and the hotel was a great option. Not being right in the middle of the French Quarter was nice, as we were able to get away from the crowds while remaining within a 5 minute walk to the neighborhood. We also found that we were well situated for newer and trendier restaurants as well as within walking distance to […] the Smithsonian affiliated WWII museum (well worth a visit) which we visited on a rainy day. This is an older hotel that has been well cared for and situated in the business district. The rooms aren’t large and the beds were too soft for my taste, but otherwise it was well appointed and clean. The bathrooms were also small. The staff was capable and courteous. The Intercontinental Hotel provides the best in customer comforts. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will do anything to make your stay a pleasant one. Located just blocks away from Bourbon Street, it is within walking distance of New Orleans best tourist hotspots. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in the Big Easy

I spent my first night at the W that was located in the French Quarter. The Intercontential surpassed the W hands over fist. The room was cleaner, larger and I felt very safe. I was a single traveler and was pretty nervous at the other hotel. I would recommend this hotel to friends and plan on staying there next year when I return.

Everything about the hotel was good. We will stay there again. My husband and I went down to New Orleans to run a marathon. The only hiccup we encountered was the morning of the race, the lobby restroom only had one of the four bathrooms in working condition. The hotel was jammed packed full of runners. Runners need restrooms before a long run, so to […] only have one bathroom working was extremely troublesome. Sure, we could have gone back upstairs to our rooms, but that is very time consuming to wait on the elevator and such. I think the hotel staff should have made the restrooms a priority. Read more

I know Carnival/Mardi Gras time has to be hectic for hotels and businesses in New Orleans, but considering the huge economic boost it provides for the local economy, you'd think people could at least attempt to be friendly. Amongst this hotel's staff, I encountered only two pleasant, courteous staff members--the housekeeping worker who agreed to provide […] us with extra towels and the front desk worker during checkout. Everyone else was sour and appeared to be interested in providing only the bare minimum of customer service...and then acted annoyed that you were requesting any basic customer service. This hotel was excellent in terms of its location to the parade route/French Quarter activities, and at least provided a quiet night's sleep. The fitness center was well equipped but the available "complimentary fruit" consisted of only green apples. If I ever return to New Orleans, I'll choose a different hotel. Read more

The location is great and a walk into the French Quarter ambience is as natural as lacing up your Nikes. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are nicely done. Personally, I felt the mattress a bit too soft, but not a problem.

we were to check in on jan. 5th.Unfortunately, they had a fire and had to relocate us. The other hotel was fair but when we finally got to check into the Intercontential it WAS fabulous. They upgraded us to a room with a balcony and the view was spectacular .The hotel itself was great and hope to stay there again. Kathy

First off, fantastic location close to everything in the city and very convenient public transport, they are fixing the trolley line for super bowel but once that's done it passes right in front of the hotel. We got upgraded when we complained that the window of our original room was facing directly at the balcony of the room next to ours, but here's […] where the problem occured. They never changed the fact that we switched rooms in their hotel system, so the wifi didn't work and no one cleaned our room the next day, obviously the key didn't work, no one walked into our room but it totally could have happened. I was very surprised that this happened since I was under the impression that the Intercontinental was a pretty upscale hotel. Here are some other minor issues: - Person that checked us in was kind of snotty, but later it was him that helped us get another room and he was nicer than before - Shower pressure was horrible, and if you're over 5'11" you had to bend your knees becusae the shower was pretty low - Doors are very loud when they close Over all we had a very plesant stay, everyone from bell boys to concierge was extrememly friendly and helpful, but just the fact they forgot to change our room in their system was a hassel and frankly should not have happened, would stay here again. Had no non-smoking rooms for the first night so we had to suffer through that but they moved us the next day. Location was perfect. Furnishings a little dated but who wants to hang out in their room and look at the furniture?

The carpeting in the room was soiled, in need of a good shampoo. The beds and pillows are in need of upgrade. It was very difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room. It was either very hot or freezing cold.

The hotel is in the perfect location on St. Charles and was easy to get to via taxi from the airport. It is only about a 5 minute walk to Canal St. and a few more blocks from the French Quarter. The staff were all very friendly and always made us feel special from the check in to check out. I forgot my toothbrush and they rushed a dental kit right up […] which included a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. The hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would come back here again the next time we are in town. The only two downsides were the pillows (made with feather down so I had to use two at a time) and the elevators (there are four, but sometimes we had a bit of a wait to get one down to the lobby and since we were on the 12th floor, we didn't want to take the stairs). I would also like to recommend Luke's which is right across the street. Great food! Read more

There was just a minor glitch about the complimentary breakfast which we upgraded to a buffet. We had to have the manager fix it so that we'll just pay the difference. Anyway, for the trouble, they just rescinded the entire bill for it.

The first room we were assigned had experienced a water leak causing the carpet outside the bathroom to be saturated. The bathroom floor was also very wet. Initially we were told by the receptionist at the front desk that she had no other rooms for us to be reassigned & that the hotel was at 100% occupency. She said nothing could be done but she would […] send someone from maintanence to check on the situation. After 15 minutes we recalled to check if someone was coming to our room. We suggested they bring a wet vacuum. A staff member arrived with no supplies but agreed that our room should be changed. He went back to the lobby to speak with the reception staff & returned with a new room assignment & the new key. We were very grateful for his assistance. Read more

Staff was so friendly! We had been driving all night long and walked in being greeted by Alexis at the registration desk. Very friendly and warm smile. She helped coordinate our stay, and acknowledged that she would be working during the duration of our stay if we needed anything. This is an excellent hotel whether you are in New Orleans for business or pleasure. In minutes, you can walk to the French Quarter, Riverfront, and the Casino. There also must be 50 restaurants within 1 mile of the hotel. The room itself was quite nice and the maid staff cleaned in a timely fashion everyday. The fitness room and pool are easy to access. […] You really don't need a car here as most everything is within a short distance. You can also use the streetcar or hop in a cab (several waiting out front) if needed. Restaurant wise, I would recommend Luke (directly across the street) for upscale or Serio's (2 blocks toward Canal St.) for po boys. Hotel is only about a 15 minute cab ride from the airport. This hotel did not meet the standards I would have expected from an InterContinental hotel however, the only exceptional point was the quality of assistance provided by the staff. On the very first night, the shower flooded the bathroom, fortunately we were moved to another room but kind of a hassle to pack your bags up at 10 pm. Only 1 washcloth was provided per person and the supply of toiletries was not replenished (cutip, cotton, etc.). The fridge was not working. Although I paid for incidentals when checking out , I noticed that they had posted $10 for a bottle of Evian and $50 on my card as a backup for any beverages that might have been consumed. I was vey pleased with this hotel. Staff was friendly, helpful, and smiling. I booked two rooms and both were well kept and clean. Most importantly, my teenagers were also very pleased. I did have to warn them not to eat the $3.50 candy bars out of the stocked refrigerator. We spent the day sightseeing and took in a ghost tour that night, all before […] checking into the hotel. We didn't arrive to check in to our rooms until 10:30pm. I had read other reviews of the hotel and was aware of the $32 parking. Having known this ahead of time was helpful with no surprises. I knew I was going to pay it and it was worth it to me not to have to try some other parking arrangement that late at night with the kids. It was easy. I stayed for 1 night on business and was overall very happy with the hotel. I ended up here as part of the Expedia "Unpublished Rate" Hotel and saved a good deal of money that way. When I arrived, I was pleased with the hotel and room. I was able to walk to the bank, night life, restaurants, etc.. It seems like a great location. I lucked out with parking […] because the staff kindly told me that I could park in metered parking and just pay enough to get me to 6:00pm and as long as I moved before 8:00am I wouldn't have to pay. Since I arrived at 5:00 it only took about 2 bucks to feed the meter vs paying 30 plus dollars to park in the hotel parking or 25 to park next door. This was superb service in my eyes and I appreciate that the hotel clerk chose to give me advice to help me save money in parking. The only minor thing I did not like in the hotel was the shower. I am 6'1" and the shower head was probably a few inches lower than my head which meant I had to kneel down a little to wash my hair. Not a huge deal but a minor annoyance. Overall though, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Read more
