"Basics and Nothing More"
Hotel is conviently in West Knoxville. Room was just basic without any special amenities. The coffee maker in my room did not work. The hotel lobby is being constructed with part of the hotel being rebuilt and/or torn down. I truly wish I could post a picture of this dump online. When I tell you it looks like a burned out bomb shelter in a war zone, I am not exaggerating. Rumble everyehere, police tape, old concrete colums, collapsed roofs. I honestly thought it wasn't open at first. The morning I left, as I was making "breakfast" (which consisted of me asking the front […] desk for a tea bag AND hot water since the only breakfast items were little cereal boxes and coffee), me and 3 maids began to hear loud shattering glass and the entire room began to shake. We all made for the door and one maids joked that it sounded "like we were in a subway." Yeah. Seriously. Apparently they're remodeling, which is fine, but there has to be a warning before pre-buying that you're walking into an active construction (war) zone and paying full price anyway. A single piece of paper hung in the door saying "remodeling" doesnt cut it. This website rarely steers me wrong, but the condition of this place, even for a cheap motel, is laughable. "Horrible & Won't ever return"
I saw mixed reviews but was just passing through town and the most recent review was fine so I took a chance. First off, it's not in a good part of town. When I got off the highway a guy was getting arrested at the gas station, there was a car in the parking lot of the hotel that was obviously a drug dealer and the woman in front of me in line appeared […] to be paying in change. I should have left but I was exhausted from driving all day. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable & the carpets were filthy. During the night there were people coming & going who were loud & at some point someone was banging on my door for no apparent reason. The "Continental Breakfast" was 2 types of cereal & muffins.. Not even fruit available. The only good thig was the friendly clerk at the front desk. He was very nice. But... Glad I had personal protection & glad to not ever return to that place. "Nice location"
I was out of town on business and needed a place to stay close to the Knoxville convention center. This place turned out to be ideal because it was only a few miles from the location. The hotel itself seemed a little old looking and the non-smoking floor smelled like smoke, which I couldnt tell if that was due to its location near the smoking rooms […] or if someone might have just been smoking when they werent suppose to. The room nice. Nothing fancey. Everything was a little older looking, but still decent. The bathroom ceiling was starting to develop rust and probably could use a remodeling. My only complants about the room where that the walls were thin so you could here the people next to you very easily and I had wished there was a mini-frig in the room. The room description didnt state their would be one, but the picture for the room did show one in the room available. The breakfast was free and like most free breakfasts was average. The staff were nice and friendly. I think one of the best perks for the location is how convently close to all the restaurants and stores it is. I went venturing down the street and found a really nice Used dvd, cd, and more store. Over all, its a decent place to stay for a night or even a few. We did a check-in around 11:00 pm, and the front desk girl wasn't too pleasant. She seemed to just "do the job" whereas when I had a question the following day, the guy at the front dest was very helpful and humorous. Oh yes, there was a woman's shirt on the floor next to the night stand when we arrived in our room. The inside of the building seems […] "icky" or at least the temperature could have been a bit cooler. There needs to be some renovation inside/outside of building and updates on TV's , AC/Heat unit. The outside looked great in the dark, but during the day....what a sore eye!..unkept landscape in the courtyard and some signs of "leaving things" behind. I had no idea there was an outdoor pool until I looked into the fitness room and could see it pass the room. It was well hidden. We liked the location as it's really accessible to the interstate and the location of our business. Probably one of the reasons we chose plus the price on hotel.com was great. The hotel was okay, but it is misrepresented as a 3 star. The breakfast was mediocre, the room really needs to be renovated (torn wall paper, marks on the walls from where furniture rubbed against it). I rented a refridgerator/microwave (not all rooms come with these) and the fridge froze everything in it. The bed was hard as a rock and not very comfortable. "quiet and convenient"
The hotel is close enough to attractions and major thoroughfares to be convenient, but just far enough away that you are not bothered by lights and noises. The down side, which is temporary, is that the hotel is undergoing renovations and construction, which means there are a few inconveniences to work around, but these are minimal. 2 of thje 3 aerobic machines in the fitness center were broken along with the only dryer in the hotel. I ran my clothes through the 54 minute drying cycle and ended up with very warm, thoroughly moist clothes. I took my clothes to my next stop and dried them there. Good thing I was driving.
