The manager was friendly and helpful. The room was advertised as having a kitchen..no kitchen. Unsafe as the front door had daylight and a big gap. paint peeling... very noisy.. the guy next door was snooring and it felt like he was in my room! I stay in Menlo Park/Atherton often but will not stay here again!

I do not recommend staying here. It was not clean at checkin and we bought cleaning supplies ourself to clean as there was still urine in the toilet and coffee in the coffee pot. I would never stay here again.

I loved the location and the front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. I loved the size of the room perfect for families and those visiting for long periods would enjoy the studio apartment type layout. I had requested a quiet room which was off the main street (El Camino) however the constant slamming of door next to mine and the loud noise from […] the upstairs room required me to wear ear plugs. The shower was a little funky and smelled mildewing and it dripped non stop. Fortunately the door closed and blocked it out. The negatives would be bed was well worn and bit lumpy, sheets had what appeared to be metal dryer streaks on them and most importantly, the front door was flimsy, had a simple bedroom door lock and the chain was broken. Froze my butt off overnight in room 16. It was also very loud, facing the street. Very poor sleep as a result. I'd stayed here before and had a room on the side street, and apparently at a warmer time of year. I thought it was a great deal then, but have to change my mind about it now.

The condition of this hotel was appropriate for the price that was paid. The owners running the place and living there were nice enough but you can hear their activities (and children crying) through the paper thin walls. There is little insulation in the place and the unit heater does little to help. I ate 2 oranges right off the tree. Not something a native New Yorker gets to do every day. -Huge windows and a great air conditioner unit made the temperature perfect, although that's not that hard to do in this area I understand. ------------ The bad: -We stayed there for 4 or 5 nights. After the second night, no one came in to clean or refill our toilet paper, refresh towels or anything along those lines. I don't really care about the cleaning or towels, but toilet paper's kind of important. -Although I felt safe (as it's a safe area), our hotel room looked right onto the street, so people could look in if we opened the blinds, and they could probably easily come in if we open the windows. But again, we did feel safe. -The hotel staff are ghosts. No one's ever around - In the multi-day stay we had there, I think we saw one staff person one time. Although Ahmed, the clerk at the window, was friendly and accommodating and I was upgraded to a larger room that was to include a kitchen, the room was dirty, there was hair in my bed, there was one spoon, one coffee cup, thread bare towels, poor security on the door, a dirty […] refrigerator and oven. I am over 50 and I must say this was one of the worst places I have stayed in the past 30 years. My suitcases are still in my garage because I fear I may have brought bed bugs back with me. El Camino Real is really noisy. Maybe El Camino Imaginary will not be so. Thus, if city noises are soothing to your soul, it is a good place to stay. If you are more of a country person, stay away from any hotel along El Camino Real; the road noise will spoil your sleep.

The Room was only superficially clean. Some cooking utensils were missing. Room was spacious, but on a noisy street location. Furniture was well worn. The Bathtub not usable (stopper did not work). This is a older dated hotel with only minimum updates to the room. When we checked in the carpet and floors were still wet.

Charming but heavily used retreat on the edge of Palo Alto oppulence. Very clean, roomy and comfortable. We stayed here over the Christmas holiday so most staff were absent. They were still very responsive by phone and arranged for us to occupy the room even with no one in the office.

This hotel is small but don't let its overall size fool you. The room that we stayed in was huge, and had an 'old California' charm. Yes, that meant single-pane windows, but also it felt like my grandfather's older California home. Recommended; will stay there next time I'm in the neighborhood.
