Lots of hair on the bed. The AC was noisy. You can hear everything going on on the streets. No elevator. No staff working in the morning. No breakfast! Price is good for the location. Took me 5 mins to walk to Stanford shopping center, 20 mins to Stanford hospital. Stay here only if you're on a tight budget, have to stay near Stanford, and dont mind […] hair on the bed. Unsafe as the front door had daylight and a big gap. paint peeling... very noisy.. the guy next door was snooring and it felt like he was in my room! "not the best hotel at all"
the hotel was so old there was no parking and Stanford called and left a message for us and the office didn't tell us about it. We wouldn't even take a shower it looked so bad. The room was very big but no one knew how to operate the tv correctly. Will never stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"HOTEL FROM HELL"
WHEN I WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO THE EXACT LOCATION I CALLED -- AN ANSWER MACHINE REPLIED.THE ROOM WAS 56 DEGREES THE NEXT MORNING. THERE WERE NO INSRUCTIONS ON HOW TO HEAT THE PLACE. A SORT OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY PRODUCT !!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Visit my son who is at Stanford University"
I do not recommend staying here. It was not clean at checkin and we bought cleaning supplies ourself to clean as there was still urine in the toilet and coffee in the coffee pot. I would never stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A place of horror"
No one manned the office when we arrived. Had to call a number to get keys to the room. No one manned the offic3 when we left either. What kind of operation is this? Most of the equipments in the kitchen did not work.Genuine Expedia guest review

It is unfortunate that you can't give them a 0 in the rating. There is simply nothing good to say about this place. Motel6 is a much better choice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"EXTREMELY TERRIBLE"
This is a terrible place I've ever stayed in my life. The overall quality only deserves 1/10 of the price. - The door key is extremely easy for picking, thus I was afraid of safety all night and couldn't sleep well. - NO lobby and services are extremely bad. I can say there is ZERO service mind in this scary place. When I want to check out in the […] morning, and tried to ask help for getting a taxi, NO ONE was there, with only a paper "will be back shortly". When I asked to put my luggage until my departure which every hotel does, the person in the office told me that they would put my luggage in OUTSIDE. The day was expecting raining, and my luggage included computer, can you imagine a hotel you stay will put your luggage OUTSIDE? - Windows are broken, but with a paper on the broken window. - heater didn't work - wifi didnt work - EXTREMELY noisy ALL night because of passing car right before your window. You can NEVER sleep in such a noisy place. You feel like you're sleeping ON THE HUGE CAR STREET. Overall, THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very close the Stanford University"
I was very dissappointed with my stay. The room had stained chairs. The kichenette was not stock with dishes, glasses or any of the things needed to use it. The main reason for picking this location was the location to Stanford and kichenette. Pay for you get!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst hotel experience"
The owners couldn't let me leave my luggage there because 'people wouldn't be there during the day' My room was literally shaking from 2-4:30 am because of road work, but there was no one to talk to to change rooms The room was freezing The front desk was incredibly unhelpful with asking for directions to the nearby medical center Would never stay […] here again. "dreadful"
no positives, here are all the negatives: 1) insufficient parking - they don't tell you on the description that you will be parking on the street every night and need to fill out a tag to hang on your rearview mirror 2) the room smelled awful, patchouli i think. candle cost me $30 from nearest shop in the mall. 3) no drain stopper in bathroom sink. […] unacceptable for contact lens wearers. the owner gave me a moldy kitchen sink stopper. dreadful. 4) claustrophobic shower. i'm 5'2", 105 lbs and i couldn't even turn without hitting the wall 5) don't know why they even bothered with a shower door, the entire bathroom floor was soaking wet, 1" of water outside the door when i was done. 6) crummy blinds that were falling down and smashed, no privacy 7) door lock was so jammed, i was afraid i'd actually be locked IN the hotel room 8) super loud upstairs, side of room, no privacy at all expedia, do yourselves a favor and remove this motel from your options Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wish I could say something nice..."
I wish I could say "it's not that bad" but, it really was not nice staying here. The place is just so old. My room actually had a lot of character - beautiful wood flloors - but the windows barely worked and had no screens, it was incredibly hot in my room and the portable air conditioner just didn't fit the bill, the toilet seat was broken, lots of […] dust bunnies on the floor, and I could hear every single car that passed on the nearby road - very difficult to hear the TV, much less get any sleep. The people there were so nice and it's clearly a family business. I'm sure they work hard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An amazing dump."
To look at their website, you would think this a decent hotel. It doesn't look luxurious or anything, but it at least looks clean. Don't be fooled. What an incredible dump. It has an attractive price, so if that's your *only* criteria you should consider staying home.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Really bad service"
I had reserved a ground floor room more than 1 month in advance for my mother who cannot climb stairs. I received confirmation that a ground floor room was booked, but when we arrived the desk clerk on duty said only a second floor room was available. She was rude, offered no help, and did not attempt to contact the manager, who was not on site. I was […] eventually able to contact the manager, who helped resolve the situation, but the desk clerk was really bad. Also the hotel looked terrible. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dated, and not maintained"
The name of the hotel is Stanford Inn, though the keys still read "Stanford Arms" - a throw back to another era. This hotel is exactly that. It looks and feels like it was built in the early 50's. The suite I had was spacious with a real kitchen, dinnette, a living area with wood floors and an oriental rug, and besides the bed, a daybed in its own alcove. […] But EVERYTHING was tired and hadnt been updated in decades. The kitchen sports a water heater. The bathroom floor tile glaze had long worn off. The shower featured mold in the grouting, especially towards the top and the junction with the wall, not to mention the wall itself above the tile. The towels were rough and felt crusty, and the entire place smelled old. Outside my room the carpet on the stairs leading up to my level was old, worn, and stained. Clearly this place could use a make over -big time! It could be charming if they spent a bit on updates to attract the retro-seeking crowd. But for what I got, I am not sure they shouldnt have paid ME to stay. Love the neighborhood - close to the mall and a bike path for jogging, but next time I am checking out the Best Western Riviera next door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Oh my G-d"
Mold in shower, hardly any hot water, TV old - sound of TV even 'older'. Room right on busy highway - no sound attenuation. I am surprised I didn't see any rodents. Other 'guests' in the Inn included families living in the complex (judging by the children's bikes locked to interior courtyard poles). If comfortable beds are important to you - forget […] this place, too. Better yet, simply forget this place period. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A sad place"
There was no safety lock on the entrance door. The room fronted El Camino Real, and the window was single-pane, so it was very loud, all night long! There was mold on the shower curtain, and the bathroom door didn't lock. The blanket was pilled with age. The towels were discolored. My friend, who stayed in another room, called the hotel a "dive." I […] wouldn't contradict her. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Read the reviews on "Trip Advisor" beforehand!"
There is no lobby at the Stanford Inn. Your transaction is, via a window. Although Ahmed, the clerk at the window, was friendly and accommodating and I was upgraded to a larger room that was to include a kitchen, the room was dirty, there was hair in my bed, there was one spoon, one coffee cup, thread bare towels, poor security on the door, a dirty […] refrigerator and oven. I am over 50 and I must say this was one of the worst places I have stayed in the past 30 years. My suitcases are still in my garage because I fear I may have brought bed bugs back with me. I should have researched this place more thoroughly. There are a number of Inns and Hotels with "Stanford" in the name, beware they are not equal in quality. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Awful"
Awful. Awful. Awful. Motel old, rugs dirty, noisy location, both truck traffic and train. Beds old with dated linens, bed spread. Bathroom difficult to navigate and moldy. Over priced for what you get. Up side was location close to medical center. New bed with new mattress and bedding and new rug would help. Best Western or similar would be much better […] choice and cheaper even tho little farther away fm med center. No use for tiny kitchen and large TV with game wires strung all over. "Disappointing Room"
The Room was only superficially clean. Some cooking utensils were missing. Room was spacious, but on a noisy street location. Furniture was well worn. The Bathtub not usable (stopper did not work). This is a older dated hotel with only minimum updates to the room. When we checked in the carpet and floors were still wet.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is in a good location, convenient to Stanford and the Medical Center. The rooms are spacious, but I was not happy with the bed linens (very old, and worn), or the condition of the room. Although the owners have tried to update where possible, the bathroom window was covered with a dirty and ancient screen of sorts that looked almost like a […] bandage, and the proximity of the busy road out front made it very loud. "Not impressed"
I had a studio for 10 nights, here are my thoughts: Pros: - The studio was large in space. - It had all necessary equipment. Cons: -The building is old. -I had problems with the water pressure, water sink, air conditioner, telephone, TV. -The house keeping was too bad. -I was sleeping like 5 meters away from El Camino Real, so I had hard time trying […] to sleep given the cars noise. -It was too expensive for the quality of service I got. "Abominable Place"
I worked in the aerospace business for 38 years and probably made a minimum of 200 trips during that time -- more likely 300-350 trips including hotel stays. I visited companies in rural southern areas where roosters patrolled the yard and woke us every morning in the tiny shacks that passed for motels in those days in the fifties and sixties. I can […] honestly say I never had a hotel stay worse than the Stanford Inn. My room was on the ground floor about 10 feet from El Camino Real. The ponding traffic created incredible noise which persisted throughout the day, worsened in the evening rush hour and continued most of the night. Sometimes, I couldn't hear the traffic because the air conditioning unit was louder than the trucks and buses outside. The air conditioner turned off, from time to time, because the water removed from the air overloaded the pan and it required rolling the unit to the front door and tipping the conditioner until all the water ran out. Then, I could start the unit again. It was too loud to hear the TV when running so I alternated on/off when there was something I really wanted to see. The bed was like a hammock dipping sadly in the middle. The pillows were sponge-filled and uncomfortable. The bathroom was puny with little counter space. The tub/shower faucet was leaking about three tubfulls per day but, to their credit, there was plenty of hot water except, when the folks on the second floor showered, my hot water disappeared. The maid had no idea what a bathroom needed - she actually did not know the difference between a floor mat and a hand towel and I often got two of the former and none of the latter. One day, she showed up a half hour after I had returned from ten hours of work. The advertised secure internet connection through Stanford Inn network never worked and I was forced to access the internet through the unsecured LinkSys. The freezer plates in the refrigerator were covered with frost about a quarter-inch thick and nothing would free Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would Not Re-Book"
This place is on a main street in town, but there is inadequate parking (and even the main parking is VERY hard to get through via a narrow passage from the alley behind the inn, the only access there is) and I was told by the desk clerk to park on the street and use a parking permit they issued. This resulted in my receiving a "courtesy notice" from […] the police department and some disparaging remarks from the work crew whose progress I impeded on the torn-up street I had to park on. The bed was uncomfortable and the old-time wall heater did not heat the room very quickly nor adequately. Although the room was as specified, I really expected more for the money. The look on my wife's face told me she thought her husband was an idiot for booking this room. I had to agree. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Right next to main road -- windows do not block loud road noise"
I was not impressed with this hotel and would definitely NOT recommend it. The "office" is a booth where you stand outside and ring a bell for someone to come by -- definitely not a safe situation for a woman traveling by herself. The first room I was given faced El Camino Real and the noise was unbearable. I asked to switch rooms, and rather than bring […] the keys of the new room to me, I was asked to go to the "office" outside to pick up the new keys. The new room was better, but I would have required industrial-strength earplugs to block out the road noise. The inside of the rooms was nice, but the bed was cheap and not very comfortable.
