Savoy Hotel

Friendly, helpful staff and hotel accomodating about early check-in. Rooms are smaller than expected but lobby, halls are beautifully decorated. Area is not best in what is now a dangerous city for tourists but thsi appears to be true for many area s of the city.

Good comfortable bed, fabulous shower, very kind staff. We had air conditioning problems. The breakfast was acceptable but not very interesting--lots of breads. Once we knew our way around, location was ok, but not a lot of high end restaurants I. The area, at least not that we found.

We enjoyed staying here, considering the reasonable price. The bed was a bit too hard, thankfully I brought my own pillow so that helped make the bed more comfortable. We asked for an upgrade and they gave us a slightly larger room which was nice. Although the entrance to the hotel is somewhat shabby as the sidewalk is all torn up, the interior is a pleasant surprise. The bar/lounge area has an old charm architectural style with art deco, high ceilings. Very helpful staff. Beautiful! I would recommend this hotel to my close friends.

The Savory was recently refurbished and offers comfort and style at a very reasonable price. The staff is super friendly and helpful without being excessively solicitous. The buffet breakfast has an excellent selection of cheeses, cold-cuts, fresh fruit, breads, and pastries--sized to nudge us away from over-eating. I like the Savoy's surroundings because the hotel is in the center of the Av. Corrientes theater district and within a short walk there are several outstanding, reasonably priced parillas with mainly Argentine clientele. You can walk the streets, day or night, without being harranged by money changers, touts, or sex-workers. Only a block from the Savor are the best meat pies in BA--La Americana, where an empanada and an ample glass of red can be had in 30 seconds for a mere $3--a bit more if your prefer to be served at a table. The hotel is nice. Rooms are small, but just the right size for a lone traveler or couple. The beds are firm but comfortable. The bathrooms were nice - rain head shower. The tub had that stupid only half a wall thing so the bathroom floor was covered in water after each shower, but the bathroom was very nice and the water pressure and temperature were […] great. The minifridge in the closet didn't keep anything cold, but the selection was fair. The closet was a nice design with space to hang up clothes and your suitcase on one side a desk on the other as a go-between for the bedroom and bathroom. I loved that the hotel had a business center. I always take my ipad, but I needed to print tickets and the business center came in handy for that. The continental breakfast was excellent - eggs, bacon, toast, biscuits, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, tomatoes, juice, coffee, tea, etc. The staff were very helpful. The front desk let me check out late and gave me advice on day trips and directions to places. The cleaning crew didn't accept the tips I left. They did a nice job. We had a great stay. If I cold change an thing I would offer an extende check out to those that are laeving for America on the 8 PM flight. Your staff did permit us to stay in the room until 2 which we really appreciated. It would have been nice if we could have stayed to 4 pM.Which would have not required us to spend so much time at the airport.

After viewing the pictures online, I was quite excited for my first stay at the Savoy Hotel. The lobby, bar, and staircases are quite impressive. The rooms are large, but I have a few complaints. When we arrived, our room on the executive floor was very warm so the bellhop showed us how to use the air conditioning. We left a key in the room to cool […] while we went out to dinner. Upon returning around midnight, the room was hotter than before! The staff came to look at the air, but couldn't figure it out, so they changed our room. While the second room was a bit cooler to begin, the A/C ultimately did not work either. With a heavy down comforter, we spent a very uncomfortable night. In addition, the room that they moved us to was much smaller, without access to the executive coffee room, and they didn't provide a reimbursement. My parents, who were staying in another suite on the same floor, also had a very hot not with a malfunctioning air conditioner. The second night, we asked to be moved to a basic room. They moved us to a room on the first floor which was both a cheaper price and had A/C that worked. Overall, the staff was helpful and friendly, but DON'T pop for the suites! They are overpriced and less comfortable than the basic rooms! Read more

When we arrived we were sent away to another hotel for the first night because 'plumbing problems' meant we couldn't check in until the next day. The hotel was lovely. Initially we were given a room on the street, which I found much too noisy, so we swapped to a room in the back. It had absolutely no view and was very dark, but it was clean and spacious and at least I was able to sleep!
