Downtown is home to the Children's Museum and Lafayette Science Museum and overflows with restaurants, music clubs, and unique shops like those found in the Jefferson Street Market. On the banks of the bayou sits Vermillionville, a living history museum of early Cajun life. "Close to Interstate, but not much else"
The Fairfield off of I-10 in Lafayette is very close to the interstate. If you are just passing through and need a bed for the night, then the hotel's location is perfect. If you are wanting to see the town of Lafayette or eat somewhere, then you will have to drive to get to the southern part of town where all the businesses are located. The hotel didn't […] serve breakfast until 6:30 (which was later than what we are used to) so keep that in mind if you are leaving early in the morning. It is a good value for the money. "Unsafe Neighborhood -- "Free" Breakfast is Lousy"
I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and was satisfied. However, the neighborhood has really deteriorated and it did not feel safe. Also, the hotel used to offer a yummy breakfast sandwich as part of the complimentary breakfast but now it's been changed a pancake/sausage on a stick (not very appealing). Also, there was a pretty rough clientele […] in the hotel. They were not folks I wanted to share close quarters with--some were downright scary. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Dirty, Unkept and Disgusting"
There was a huge brown/red stain on the carpet in front of the sink, the towels were paper thin, the hair dryer plug was broken and you could see the wiring in the mechanism -- that couldn't be safe, and my husband found blood stains on the sheets. Just disgusting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Didn't feel like I was in a Fairfield by Marriott"
I checked in and went upstairs to the room to discover I'd been assigned to an occupied room. Had to go back downstairs and ask for a different room. Bed was very stiff/hard and uncomfortable. Also, bed was so low to the ground that I felt like it was a mattress laying on the floor. Door handle on the inside of the room was broken, the entire handle […] came off in my hand as I tried to leave. Only one small mirror in the whole room was above sink, impossible for two people to get ready at the same time. When I got in bed, there was a maid's master key (that would unlock any room) in the sheets. I was very disappointed in this particular Fairfield. I have stayed at Fairfield's in other cities and was very pleased, and expected to love this one as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
