Everything was ok , the hotel was very close to a railtown museum which was very good, close to Sonora. Direct tv service in a room which gives a lot of different channels to watch, the only thing that was annoying to me that i was not able to use the Internet at all even I got the Internet access code . "Good hotel for the price"
They have new carpet, tile, and furniture. Unfortunately they do not have new beds and they are pretty hard. If you like a firm bed you should be fine. The curtains are really bad and need replacing. The big downfall is the jacuzzi in the room must be booked separately and there is an additional cost to use it. Seems crazy to us to have something in […] a room you pay for like a tub/jacuzzi but have to pay a separate fee to use it. Just raise the cost of the room if needed and don't make people ask to use it. They get very few TV channels and no ESPN so that's reason enough for some not to stay there. The front desk staff were not very friendly and we felt like it was a bother for him to come from his home/office to check us in. If you are looking for cheap, clean and in a cute little town with several shops this is a good place to stay. If you want a soft bed, free in-room jacuzzi and ESPN you may want to look elsewhere. "Perfect gold country hotel!"
This is a great hotel to use as your base to explore the gold country. The hotel is right off of main street so you can walk to eat and explore. The hotel in my opinion is really nice and ideal for this area. I stayed with my family and we had two rooms and both were really nice. Small pool but it was nice to cool off, hours could be longer 9am-9pm. Loved the location & old buildings. It is located right in the heart of Jamestown, which made walking, browing shops, etc. a breeze. No need for the car. First impression it was nice. The heater didn't work, the front desk didn't answer the phone when I called, the front office staff was rude when I asked about the jacuzzi. (They had the water supply turned off so you don't use the hot tub without paying.) If you look at the reservation site it doesn't say you have to pay to use the tub. We were pleasantly surprised with Jamestown Railtown Motel. The room was very clean. All we wanted was a clean room to sleep in as we flew into Sacramento and were staying for a week to visit Yosemite and the surrounding area. We had a large room with a King Size bed and a refrigerator and microwave. One tip-you will need to bring your own hair dryer. […] We travel a lot and are not interested in 'high end hotels' as we are usually there just to sleep. (The Ahwahnee in Yosemite is $400 + a night and why would you pay that just to sleep). The drive to Yosemite is 1 1/2 hrs. but it is a beautiful drive. Jamestown Motel is right off the charming main street of Jamestown. We had breakfast at Perko's in Sonora every morning which was a great value and good food- about $12 for two. Jed's in Sonora also has a steak dinner for $19.99 for two and it was also a great deal. Great Day Drive: Drive through Tuolumne Meadows, to Mono Lake, on to Bodie State Park (authentic Western Ghost Town) and on over Sonora Pass back to Jamestown. Sonora Pass rivals Yosemite and the secenry is awesome. If you are looking for 'a room with a view' this many not be the Motel for you, but if you want a good, clean room with a great location you will be happy. We would stay there again. "No deposit/ no return for us."
Booked 2 nights based on comments here but was dissatisfified with our visit. Toilet had 2 quarter size "brown spots". Tissue box had only 1-2 tissues the first night and was not replenished the second day. Bottom sheet was wrong type and size- 8" of the mattress was exposed on day 1. Bottom of bath/shower was black and despite new carpets room (room […] 33) REEKED of a urine type odor. Also dislike having a key to ONLY the knob lock and NOT the deadbolt (I'm an ex locksmith and *believe* that there is some law in Ca. that states rooms for rent REQUIRE a FUNCTIONING DEADBOLT). The bed was horrible. The mattress was collapsed as well was the box springs. When laying down our heads were below our feet. Had to sleep head first at the foot of the bed.
