Reality TV portrays Laguna Beach as the land of the young and spoiled. But beneath this veneer is a city rooted in the arts. The Laguna Playhouse is one of the oldest theaters in the West Coast. The city also hosts the annual Festival of the Arts/Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Art Festival. West of Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove State Park’s unspoiled beach attracts snorkelers and divers.

Wow, nothing like the description read on hotels.com. Very late check-in (send you up to the rooftop bar to spend money) and when we finally got our room, we go down stairs to last room before the alley way. Clanking of trash and bottles til late night and early morning. Also hear every flush and shower your upstairs neighbor takes. Breakfast is serves […] in a nearby converted room and GROSS. Rooms are beyond tiny. My fiance stubbed his toe 3 times try to get by the bed. Dirty hand towels with ink marks, phone didnt have dial tone in room. When I went to the lobby to complain that night around 10, I could barely hear myself talk due to the loud obnoxious kareoke in the lobby. Staff couldnt care less. They said this is a "historic hotel" and wanted to keep elements original. Thank you Hotels.com for crediting back my stay however I lost a night of sleep and couldnt wait to check out. PS. Parking lot is a block away and very tight spots. FAIL Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very bad experience"
I followed the reviews that I read and were positive about the hotel. What a big mistake !!!!! It seems that the relatives of the owners wrote them. I thought that because of the price I was paying it was going to be nice. I had a huge disappointment when I arrived. The lobby wasn't nice... and the bedroon we were assigned was horrible. I felt cheated. […] And worst of all it was super noisy. We couldn't sleep at all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was bad all around. The welcome was not very warm. Before I could even park the car, one of the staff ,members directed me to park in a different spot, further away to unload my luggage. Inside the Hotel it smelled funny, was crowded ( in a bad ) way. We had rooms 209 and 208, they are tiny!!!! my mother kept banging her leg on the bed cause there […] was no way to walk around it. The rooms smelled bad too. The partial ocean view a joke more a view of a parking lot and endless delivery trucks. We could not sleep all night cause they cleaned the carpet with a pressure cleaner, first in the Hotel ( my haed was vibrating like crazy) and then after 2 hours they stopped for 10min went next door and started cleaning there. I was sooo mad, called the reception. The man was not understanding at all, a a simple "Oh I am sorry but this is the only time the restaurant is empty so we can clean" ????? what? and not let your costumers sleep? We called Hotels.com and cancelled our 2nd night and moved to the Pacific Edge Hotel down the street - best Hotel ever. I will never set foot into the La Casa del Camino. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Left Desert To Get Cool"
Was assigned room 321 which was over 90 degrees when we arrived at 5 PM. We turned on the little floor A/C unit and left for dinner and the Pageant, reutrning about 11:00 PM.The room hadn't cooled at all and was really uninhabitable. We left the windows open and tried to sleep. In the morning we learned that the A/C unit was not properly vented. The […] remodeled bathroom was tiny but very nice. The room is so tiny it's hard to believe. The little bed is against 2 walls and it's hard to walk in the room. It does have a nice partial view of the ocean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Are you kidding me?"
The fire alarm went off no less than 3 times PER night during our stay! We had to leave a day early - we weren't getting any sleep! After the first night, the hotel gave us 2 small cookies and a free tapas appetizer coupon as an apology. I was told the coupon was only good upstairs at the bar - and unless you go very early you have to fight the drinking […] crowd for a table - no thanks. The second and third night all they did was make excuses about it being the alarm company's problem. We left a day early. The Manager wasn't even on site. I have stayed at this hotel for 5 years in a row. I tell them that every time I come, thinking that maybe they will appreciate my plunking down a LOT for 4-5 nights every year, but nope - I even call every time and ask for a room where I can at least walk around the bed, because the rooms are VERY small. Make sure you ask for that! They could care less if you are a returning customer and have any type of loyalty. Well they lost mine. There are plenty of hotels near the beach. Even a fireman that was there the next day advised against us staying there, when "there are better places" just as close. So that means even locally they are not respected. Well La Casa del Camino you LOST my business! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"horrible malfunctioning fire alarm"
It was wonderful for the first 10 hours. Well located, beautiful rooftop restaruant, right on the Pacific coast Hwy for shopping and restaurants. Then at about 2:00AM the fire alarm started going off about every half hour, at leats seven to eight more times. I got no sleep at all and went to the desk about 5:00 AM and they told me the cause. They also […] said that they were working on a solution to refund that night's stay. Before this I would definitely have gone back. Whether or not I do now depends on their follow through in refunding my night's stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Terrible nights sleep"
We stayed here on the last night of a long weekend in Southern California. Pros - location is great for the beach, probably 100ft away down some steps. The rooftop bar is a very cool place to hang out, however can get pricey outside of happy hour. The lobby and bistro/bar are also nice, staff are helpful and friendly.. However, our main con was the […] inability to get even a few hours straight sleep. We had a bottom end room, small but clean-ish with no view. The bed was unbearably hard with protruding springs that poked with every movement, the most uncomfortable I have ever been on and no better than sleeping in a field on a sheet. The window a/c unit sounded like someone starting up a hot-rod every time it cycled to cool, waking us up until I came far enough out of a half sleep to get up and switch it off. Then, at 4am, the elevator alarm started going off. According to the employee that I tracked down after getting dressed and wandering around the hotel, it does this if someone uses it in the night!! Such a shame as this could be a great place, it seems attention to some of the more important details would go a long way, rather than trying to create a aesthetically pleasing hotel and a profitable bistro and bar. "cute closet"
the hotel itself is charming with a great vibe. service is friendly. love the bar upstairs on the roof. the room itself leaves a bit to be desired. there was barely room enough to put the suitcase down and we used the in room refrigerator as our staging area for our stuff. as long as you're not traveling with anyone and don't plan on using the room […] for more than a place to sleep and only sleep you'll be fine; however, that being said, you have other choices that are cheaper and nicer. the rooftop bar is still enticing and they do allow you to bring your own beverages up there after the bar is closed which is nice as we're not used to a bar closing at 9. overall it's a cute hotel but the rooms are terribly cramped with minimal amenities.
