"Newly renovated, but cheaply done"
The location is great - near lots of restaurants, the beach, etc. It still seems a bit run down even though it's touted as newly renovated - cheap floor and table lamps, no security lock on the door, no front desk service after midnight (I thought there would have been a nice info packet in the room with information about what to do in an emergency, […] etc, since the front desk is not always available, but there was nothing). "Convenient, cheap (for Miami)"
Very convenient hotel, except it's more of an apartment. There's no breakfast, despite what it says on Expedia. There is a Walgreens up the street which is convenient for buying groceries, or Jerry's Deli is on the next block and open 24 hours. I found the Riviere to be quite reasonable - it's cheap compared to most of the hotels close by. It's two […] blocks from the beach and convenient for shopping on Collins Ave. However, as I said, it's basically an apartment. There's a fridge and a microwave - you do your own dishes - the only services provided are fresh towels daily and bed making. But, if you're going to spend every day somewhere else, what else do you need, really?
