"Ok but be aware"
Nice & pleasant staff. Room was less nice. No dresser!!! Bed was comfortable. and despite having a room fronting Ocean Dr., the noise was not a significant factor. Shower was handheld and takes getting use to. Plastic couch for old/uncomfortable. TVs may have been 19". There was a nice kitchenette with full size frig & microwave. "Great location and large rooms but service lacks"
We came to Miami Beach for a romantic getaway we found the Congress Hotel to be good in terms of ratings and location. Unfortunately once you got to the hotel we had to wait eight hours to get into our room as we could not check in to our room until 4 o'clock I thought that was unheard of. Then I thought the price that we paid was the total price but […] they added on a bunch of fees. The pool was nice With a great view of the ocean and the beach. The surrounding neighborhood was great although it is very loud if you're trying to get to bed early. Overall I would say it's great for the room and the location and the pool but other than that it is overpriced the service is terrible and you will find that they'll buckle and dime you. "Very loud and hot, otherwise nice"
We thought the hotel was nice - the room was large, clean and modern, and the location was great in terms of access to restaurants/beach/etc. However, the room was extremely loud. We could hear the noise from the Clevelander until 5am, but the worst noise came from either A/C units or some kind of generator that was running early in the morning (from […] 6am on, or so). It sounded like the building was being power washed. Definitely too loud to sleep through. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Rythm got us, like gloria said it would."
If you are traveling to the South Beach area on Business, choose a hotel on Collins. Congress is a great location if you are on vacation and looking to have a wild time. If you need a quiet room, this is not the place for you. The music from the patio resonates in the room passed 3 AM and resumes at breakfast time. The staff is pleasant and the room […] is large. "Not for families, not clean, very noisy."
Room very tired, had to change rooms three times, cleaning not great, front desk staff pleasant but out of their depth dealing with the many complaints, pool not cleaned at all and absolutely filthy. Room was nice with deep tub and various amenities like fridge. In an age of flat screen TVs I was surprised that our room had one about 12" across on the diagonal...so tiny. But, we were here for the beach anyway so no problem. Actually I found ocean drive not to be so interesting, but other nearby parts of south beach quite nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Too noisy place"
Excellent location but too noisy - you have party noises all night and garbage trucks early at the morning. Very friendly and professional staff. Nice rooms but do not expect too much. some small issues - housekeeping forgot to put new towels, no hangers in the closet and etc...Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location"
That hotel was in a great spot on Ocean Drive, but it had it's problems. The power didn't work on one half of the room, the biggest window in our room didn't have blackout shades so the super bright lights from the parking lot next door were shining in our room and there was a ton of noise in the alley behind the hotel starting at 7 AM. I guess it is my fault for booking a room in this area, but the partying and loud music ended after Midnight on a Thursday, I would hate to see how late they run on weekends. Parking is a pain, around the corner at a public garage. Bring really good earplugs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"So So"
I booked 2 rooms. One of the rooms had black mold in the bathroom and the other smelled like turpentine. The rooms were somewhat clean but not what you would expect. It was very loud, the restaurants at the base of both bulidings turn into clubs and played very loud music until 5am! And then started the music back up at 9am sharp. There was only one […] ice machine for 2 bulidings, which was locked in the maintenance room. So when we needed ice we had to go over to the next building but then it wasn't available after 10pm. We were provided with vouchers for breakfast everymoring at the restaurant downstairs. Good food, HORRIBLE SERVICE! Slow and rude, every single day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

When I first arrived at the hotel, the guy was very helpful with my luggage but the employee at the front desk was not so pleasant. Idk if she was having a bad day bu t her attitude was not so great. Once I checked into my room, the bathtub looked like they had just wiped it out versus washing it, I had no tissue paper, the carpet was not clean or vacuumed […] and the dishes that were in the cabinet werent very clean. The hotel itself was nice. The front desk clerk was just rude and had no customer service skills. My husband and I clearly were from out of town and had never been there before and she was just very short with us. "Great for party animals, bad for families/kids."
I would not recommend staying here if you are not a party animal. If you have kids, definitely stay away. It's great for college kids and people who stay up really late. The partying and noise won't stop until 3 A.M. weekdays and about 6 or 7 A.M. on weekends. It's crazy, but if you're a heavy drinker/sleeper it's the place to be. The service is lackluster […] or non-existent. Be prepared to ask for stuff. Parking is also a nightmare, and valet parking is a must, and it's $35.00+ dollars a day, plus a $12.50/day hotel fee. "Good Value if You're Not Expecting 4 or 5 Stars"
The Congress Hotel is a complex of 3 buildings, located directly across the street from the beach, with beach chairs, umbrellas and towels provided to hotel guests at no additional cost. Cafes line the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Breakfast vouchers worth $5.75 per person are included for each morning of your stay, to be used in the "Kitchen Cafe" […] in front of the "Retro" building. Check-in time is supposed to be 3:00 PM, but we had to wait until 3:45 PM to get into our room. Apparently all rooms (at least in our price range) have only one queen bed, and although our "suite" had a fold-out sofa, it was not comfortable to sleep on. The suite was large, but it was oddly arranged with a lot of wasted space, and there was no surface on which to open a suitcase, except the bed or sofa. There was a large, low, glass and steel coffee table which was downright dangerous. I certainly wouldn't pay extra for a "balcony with ocean view" unless the room were definitely on the front (street side) of the building. Otherwise, you are talking about a tiny cement slab enclosed by concrete walls. Housekeeping was hit-and-miss, using the "environmental concerns" excuse for not changing bed linens for our entire 5 night stay. Used towels (even left in a heap as instructed) might or might not be changed. The good news was the front desk staff (Toneisha and Lisa) and the bell-hops (Adrian and Daniel). These four were invariably polite and professional and appeared able to resolve any issue. . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Central Location... Slacking Customer Service"
I think this hotel is great for young people who are looking to have a good time and enjoy the party scene in South Beach. I don't think this hotel is most suited for families. It's in a very central location. We were there for New Years Eve and had a great time in South Beach. The room wasn't cleaned/serviced everyday which was kind of strange. My […] sister and her boyfriend were locked out of their room because the elevator was not working and the front office staff was unable to locate the keys to the stair well. They re-located them to a room with water damage after waiting an hour in the lobby. "New Years Eve in Miami 2011"
I went to Miami for the first time for New Years and stayed at the Congress hotel. The best part of the hotel is the LOCATION!! its in the best area and walking distance to everything! Now, i read reviews that the hotel was dirty and the staff was awful and it is very true. The hotel sheets were dirty and I slept in a hoodie and sweats trying not to […] lay on the sheets. The cleaning lady was awful and brought a few towels and quickly pulled up the dirty sheets and left. I called the front desk for a cab company and they said they did not know any, they are awful. "Not bad for a budget trip!"
Overall this hotel was nice for those on a budget trip like myself. Our original choice was the Fontainebleau Hotel but was way too expensive for our first trip to South Beach. The Congress hotel was located in the heart of South Beach. Everything you need was walking distance. Beach across the street, cafes right there, night clubs only few blocks […] away or couple dollars for a cab ride. The shops on Collins only a block away. Great location. Now the downside: Filthy couch in the Standard Suite King Room. The AC broke the very 1st night we arrived. Had to sleep in 80 degrees till they got it to work. Housekeeping wasn't so great. They never vacuumed the room. Only changed the sheets, towels and garbage. The hotel offers beach towels, but there were never any available! The front desk weren't too helpful at all. However the bellboys were. Adrian and another fellow were awesome, made our trip very satisfying. If you're looking for a place to just sleep in and mostly stay out like we did, then I would recommend this hotel. If you're looking for a place to wine/dine/pamper yourself and never leave the resort then this place isn't for you. We're from NYC and expected more from a place in the heart of South Beach Miami, FL. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was ok."
The destination was good and the room was great. However, the housekeeping service was horrible. I asked for housekeeping service, but it wasn't done till i got back to the room (about at least five hourse later). They didn't have beach towel so we had to use bathroom shower towel. personally, i easily go to sleep with any noise, but if you are sensitive, […] i don't recommend. loud music all night till early morning. i booked two junior suite rooms, but they were not the same. my room didn't even have coffee table so i had to eat dinner in the bed on the first night. although the front desks were not friendly, the doormans were so friendly and nice. If you don't care about loud music, or late housekeeping service, i recommend this hotel. Oh, and the check in time was 4 o clock , but my rooms were not ready till 6 o clock. The hotel was not what we expected but it wasn't so bad either. The room was a bit smaller than how it is shown in the web page. Location is the best, right on the beach walking distance of everything. I didn't care for the alley style entrance but that was minor. What I also didn't care for was the housekeeping, didn't get nour rooms clean until after 4pm and one day the maid shoved towels in our hands and didn't even come in to make the bed. This was quickly remedied after […] a nice chat with the front desk. I do understand that the hotel was full and housekepping may have been behind but still. The staff was warm nice knowledgeable about the hot spots in and around the hotel. I would recommend and I'll probably go back. Location was a plus plus, beautiful views! Stayed at the Congress the week before Easter. There's a lot of noise coming from the Clevelander down the street, loud bass from 9:30 in the morning through the night! The porters were super helpful too. The pool on the roof has an amaIng view! Kinda nice to head up after all day on the beach. The room was nice but the couch and curtains were dingy and beat up. This is a beautiful boutique hotel in Miami Beach, EXCELLENT location, walking distance from nice bars and restaurants and the rooms are very very comfortable, however, the service is terrible. "South Beach if you want to party"
This is a great hotel, but trust your instincts on the reviews. Beach chairs daily, restaurants everywhere, and fun roof top pool. If you want to stay up late, then this is perfect! If you don't want to hear the boom-boom of the next door night club...go else where. All the doors are on the outside of the building... hence the noise. We didn't have […] shampoo, asked for it multiple times, and finally received on the 5th day when we were showering to go to the airport. This is one example of the service. The rooms were nice, but when we laid down on the bed, you could smell the BO of whoever had been there before us. There is NO matress pad. Just the sheet and the matress. Only two towels per day in the room, so you might have to ask for more when you check in. If you really need something, I suggest going to the front desk instead of calling. "not impressed"
while the location is fantastic/convenient, the bars/clubs pump music outside at all hours (guess that is my fault for not taking into consideration of the location). however the room was freezing, heat didn't work, no cell phone service (had to walk across the street to get a signal and i have at&t), they dont bother to put wastebaskets or trash cans […] in the rooms at all, trash in the refrigerator from previous person, overall a little bit uncomfortable. i would recommend this place for someone who is into the beach and partying and doesn't really care about the room. the worst part is the deposit they took without my authorization on the credit card, without informing me about the charge and that it would be refunded or not charged at the end of my stay as long as the room was left up to snuff. made me wonder if they constantly have terrible guests who tear up the room. the guy who escorted me to the room was not a bellhop but a security guard! he warned me to always lock the door. so, i didn't feel that safe either. when i called the front desk to inquire about the charge, which i found out about by accident, there was heavy sighing and irritation, as if my question about the mysterious charge was out of line. one nice thing is that they give you breakfast vouchers so there is cheap/free breakfast in the am from the restaurant next door. overall lesson learned, this is what happens when you try to save money on your trip. "Nice room - but very noisy all night"
The location of the hotel was good. It was the last hotel we were staying in and for just one night before we flew out of Miami the next day. The room was nice - more than I expected. We had a junior suite on the 5th floor with view of the street, beach and ocean. The biggest problem we had was the very loud music with a constant loud bass beat. The […] music continued until 4:30am and we weren't sure if it was from the place next door or from a room down the hall. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. We didn't feel comfortable calling the front desk to complain because we didn't know the souce of the music and didn't want to cause any trouble. I recommend this hotel and area if you like to party and stay up until the wee hours of the night. The whole street has many great places to eat and stop for a cocktail.
