"Bait and Switch"
I booked a queen junior suite through Expedia. I checked in and they gave me a king standard. I went to front desk to find out about the mix up and was told "thats an issue with Expedia not us, you need to call them." I informed the person that Expedia wasnt there and didnt have the room list in front of them like she did. I was again told sorry. Later […] that evening, the same staff person saw me in the lobby and stopped me and said that she had placed 4 breakfast coupons in my room for breakfast for the 2 of us for 2 mornings. I said, fine at least it is something. We get to breakfast the next morning and the coupon is only good for a croissand a fruit cup. "Loved the Staff, not so much the room."
Really enjoyed our stay over all because this place has such wonderful people working there. Matthew the bartender is really sweet and helpful. Aide runs the pool area is the best! My issues were that the toilet and shower area has see through glass, I'm just not that comfortable using the bathroom knowing my husband can see me. The lights were a pain […] in the butt and they close the pool at 9pm along with the pool bar, while other hotels keep theirs open longer. Oh and the food is really good but you will pay the price for such tasty treats! They have the A/C set to where you can't go any lower than 68 which was uncomfortable when its in the mid 90's and very humid. It does feel better if you leave the doors shut between the room and the bathroom area. The mattress in room 252 sucked and needs to be replaced soon, like yesterday. "You win some, you lose some"
The place overall was very clean, and modern. The staff were delightful and accommodating people. Unfortunately, the deluxe king room was dark and small. The bed was very comfy, but occupied almost the entire room. The hotel website pics are taken with a very wide lens. There is almost no room to stand in the room, other than on the bed. The single […] window opened into an oversize air shaft -- daylight was virtually non-existent. The gimmicky lighting system was annoying... panels of buttons with all sorts of lighting schemes for a shoebox of a room, yet no way to actually just turn on a bright light to see anything. It's one thing to have a room be dark, but another to have it designed to stay that way. The the place seemed to be full of students (a bit odd for the price point), and the commensurate 4:30am noisy antics in the hallway were not appreciated. The reviews are true - these rooms are small and dark. We could have pulled up the vanity shade to get some natural light but then we would have looked out into an alley. The rooms are small. But the worst thing is... The lighting in the hotel room was abysmal, even borderline unsafe, even with all lights on, as high as they would go. Moreover, there was no natural light possibilities, as the windows were shaded over. Good things - location in South Beach although not on sea front, comfortable bed, good shower. Not so good - room very small and little storage. Lighting in the rooms is a pain - all on dimmer switches, fiddly to turn on and no instructions given. Not all lights were working, and the permanent blue hue got to us after a few days.
