"Worst hotel experience"
This had to be one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. We booked a superior double room, with two double beds at the Crest Hotel Suites as part of a package through Expedia. There were four girls on the reservation and we had requested a room that would indeed accommodate four people. When we arrived they provided us a superior single room […] as they phrased it which contained one double bed and a couch. There was no closet in the room. Upon entering the room we complained that there was only one bed, but unfortunately all they had left was a single room. We asked if we could have a cot or something but unfortunately they were all out of cots and again could not accommodate us. He assured us that the next morning there were a number of other guests leaving the hotel and that they would indeed be able to move us into a double room. We called down to the desk in the morning and we were told again there were no double rooms available. Finally the front desk called the manager, and relayed the message that the manager said they could not accommodate us so they cancelled the rest of our reservation and we had to be out by noon. "WORST night ever - spend your money elsewhere"
Oh where do I begin on how awful Crest Suites were? First off, the girl who check us in had a massive attitude, and the valet took forever (whereas across the street there's a public parking lot that is just as safe, and will cost the same amount, and you won't have to waste your day waiting for the impossibly slow valet at Crest). Then, after I waited […] for 1/2 hour to have my car parked - which I didn't want to leave because it was double parked on a very busy road - I went to my room. They gave us a room with one bed, although I had paid for a room with two double beds. Once again, I had to wait and see if they had the room which we had paid for. After a few minutes, I was moved up a floor to a room that was easily 90*. Fair enough, it's Miami and they weren't expecting us, but man does that suck to get out of a long car ride to a sweltering hot room. It's a bit far from the South Beach action - about 15 blocks. But it is in the heart of a lot of shopping, etc. That being said, it is incredibly noisy. Now, as far as the actual room - the beds are covered in plastic or something? They squeak every time people move (which is not fun for a room of ladies). And, they're pretty uncomfortable to boot. Also, in our room the maid had only put one roll of 1/2 empty toilet paper in it... needless to say, I discovered this at 4 AM and had a lovely visit with the front desk, again. Oh, and the shower was dangerous - my friend accidentally cut herself on the drain because it was in disrepair. Let me add, the elevator certificate was 7 months expired to get us up to our room. When we checked out, the rude girl at the beginning had told me that retrieving my car from valet in the morning would take about 5-10 minutes. I'm glad I decided to go early because the next rude man who checked us out told me, "Always 15 minutes." It was 15 minutes, and yet another stressful moment. Again, another rude person at the desk. "Crest Hotel - Superior Single Room"
The hotel had a great location however we were extremely dissapointed with the hygiene standards this resort worked upon. The reception staff were all clueless with any quieries we had and could not help us most the time. Upon check in the room had several hairs in the bath and on the inside linnen of the bed. "Nos han estafado"
Teníamos reserva pagada para dos noches. Después de pasar la primera noche decidimos dejar el hotel la tarde siguiente. Entonces nos dicen que por "políticas del hotel" (que no aparecen en las condiciones de la reserva) nos tienen que cobrar una tasa por "early chech out", es decir dejar la habitación antes de tiempo, cuando ya estaba pagada la reserva. […] Confirmamos con hotels.com que esa tasa no aplica en ningún caso y lo que hacen es no devolvernos la fianza que dejamos al hacer el check-in sin más explicaciones. Actitud impresentable y tercermundista. Para evitar problemas mejor no reserven en este hotel. Hay uno justo al lado mucho más bonito y seguramente más serio. Del resto lo único que se salva es la ubicación. El desayuno no es buffet. Solo entra un café y un muffin. El resto de pago. Instalaciones antiguas. Personal desagradable. Aire acondiconado ruidoso. "Perfekt, um South Beach zu erkunden"
Das Hotel liegt perfekt. In wenigen Minuten ist man zu Fuss am Strand, auf der Collins Street, es gibt jede Menge Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Guter Tipp: während des Aufenthalts in South Beach (sofern man keine Ausflüge plant) kein Auto mieten. 1. benötigt man keines und 2. kostet die Pargebühr täglich ca. 30$.
