Within short walks or driving distances from the Hotel, they can find tennis, windsurfing, golf, and helicopter and airplane "flightseeing." Wish, the Hotel's restaurant, dazzles patrons with fresh haute cuisine with Asian influences. Wish was one of 50 restaurants named by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine on the "Hot Tables List" and one of the "world's most exciting restaurants." Fans dine in a romantic outdoor garden or in a Persian-inspired bar, where glass lamps in blues and purples highlight high tables and "electronic" cocktails glow with neon ice cubes. The Hotel of South Beach, which combines Art-Deco luxury with 21st century comforts, is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Hotels of America.

In the hallways, gem-inspired lights glow with room numbers. The rooms feature Italian Frette bedding with satin pillows, tie-dyed bathrobes, hand-painted bathroom tiles, and fancy bath amenities by White Company of London. High-definition flatscreen LCD televisions, coffee/tea makers, and iHome docking stations are standard in all rooms. Room service is available 24 hours-a-day.

The Spire Bar & Lounge - A rooftop pool bar serving cocktails with views of Miami, South Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean.
A breakfast buffet with hot items is served daily in the lobby between the hours of 7 AM and 11 AM (surcharge).

This Collins Avenue hotel offers one of the only rooftop pools in South Beach with an unobstructed ocean view. Guests are provided complimentary beach towels and there are sun loungers available. The striped sundeck is petite in size and its emerald-shaped pool is 12 ft x 35 ft. Cabanas offer massage services. One end of the pool includes jets, making it a quasi-spa tub.
Adjacent to the pool deck is a small fitness center, also with an ocean view. Another small deck is used for yoga classes on Saturday mornings (subject to change without notice).
A block from The Hotel of South Beach is Lummus Park and the beach, where two beach chairs are provided for two guests per room. The hotel can help arrange water-sports equipment rentals.
Flamingo Park offers tennis courts and a public pool. Windsurfers head to Hobie Beach, golfers go north to Bayshore Golf Course, and helicopter and airplane flightseeing is available from Watson Island.

"Just OK"
I think the stay was just ok. Hotel needs updates and is noisy. Shower pressure in our room was very light which was a bummer. As well as we were above some sort of loading dock and was woken by loud dumpster sounds at 6am which is always awesome on vacation. Also - while beach chairs come with your room, umbrellas do not which we were not told until […] we arrived on the beach that this would be an extra $15. Staff was friendly, pool nice and good service but food takes forever also. (over 2 hrs one day for our lunch) I would not likely return to this hotel. I would stay somewhere directly on the beach. You should be sure that you'll get a nice room. The points that are mentioned on Expedia like "extra wide bedding" - do not work - the hotel gave me a regular Quine bad and I had to ask to change that! Be sure that a big area of the hotel is located where you can hear loud music - it can disturb. The mattresses and soft, very soft - your spine will […] be twisted.. No bath - just the shower, fortunately in some rooms there is a separated movable shower. Rooms are purely noise isolated. Gym is poor - orbitrek there is almost dead! Ok, number one the hotel is great, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is ideal, you are right in the middle of everything you need/should do in South Beach. Our room was small but compact and very comfortable, surprisingly quiet from any street noise but and it was quite a big but either the people in the next door room were very […] noisy or the wall are very thin, so much so that we had to ask the front desk to have a word at 3am, also the floorboards in the room above creaked loudly when the guests there were moving around, not a problem apart from when they get up at 6am. I think South Beach is getting very sketchy. Not the ideal beach place anymore, the women and the men look like they work for the porn industry or rejects from it. Though this hotel is aptly located in South Beach, the room that Hotels.com books is not very nice. It is their most basic room with no real windows, and very thin walls. First let me say the location can't be beat. You are literally 1 block away from Ocean Blvd. The staff is very courteous and helpful. They greet you every time you come in or leave. Now the bad part. The only thing 4 star is the lobby!! If you don't mind staying in a motel you will have no problems staying here. If you expect a 4 star, stay at the Tides down the street or the W Hotel or Loews. We arrived mid afternoon only to find that our room wasn't ready - the staff were apologetic and offered us free drinks which was OK, but not a good start. Beau petit hôtel très bien décoré. Par contre, les chambres standards sont assez petites, surtout avec le standard américain et la vue de la fenêtre est soit bloquée ou donne sur une rue. Grundsätzlich ein sehr freundliches und hübsches Hotel. Es hat viele Stammkunden, da es in South Beach nicht einfach ist ein gutes Hotel mit einigermassen guter Preis/Leistung zu finden. Der Poolbereich ist sehr schön und hat ein optimales Sonnendeck, welches nicht (wie bei anderen Hotels) Schattig ist, da Hochhäuser die Sicht und Sonne verdecken. […] (wurde auch von anderen Hotelgästen gelobt) Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Essen schmeckt vorzüglich. Da ich sehr viel Reise und schon viele Hotelzimmer gesehen habe, muss ich sagen dass ich die Zimmer nicht gut gelungen finde! Weniger wäre sicherlich mehr gewesen, da somit auch die Abnützung nicht so stark zum Vorschein kommen würde. Auch was die farbigkeit anbelangt. Teppiche waren leider sehr Verschmutzt. Was bitte hat ein Teppich bei diesen Temperaturen überhaupt für eine Funktion? Habe auch das Zimmer gewechselt, da das erste Zimmer nicht akzeptabel war. Durch die Lage haben die Zimmer leider gar keine Sicht, dh. zum Teil haben die Zimmer Klebefolie an den Fenstern, da unmittelbar anderes Gebäude angrenzt oder man schaut auf Mauer gegenüber. Für diesen Preis, habe ich zumindest ein normales Fenster erwartet. Aber sehr wahrscheinlich sind an dieser Lage einfach keine besseren Möglichkeiten zu erwarten.
