Very stuffy and uncomfortable air quality in the rooms. Bathrooms weren't cleaned to perfection. I slept in my sweat suit and didn't get under the covers. Place is a mess. 1st the cable was out of service. 2nd went in the room to drop off my bags and the door was jammed had to wait almost an hour for the maintnace crew to unlock the door. 3rd the claim to have 2 queen size beds bull one full size bed. 4th no pool in this place this spot is in south beach with no pool. Booked for 1 night because we were arriving late. This is the worse hotel. we could not even stay and left immediatiely after entering the room and went to the hotel we had booked for the bulk of our trip. "Expedia's pictures are WRONG"
Expedia's pictures of this hotel are the COMPLETE opposite of what it really looks like. The staff were nice and helpful, but unfortunately the hotel itself is DISGUSTING. I originally booked for 2 people, but at the last minute, 2 other people booked flights and were going to stay in the room with us. So they were going to charge us $30 per person […] per day for the 2 extra people, but they only charged us for 1 person. But still, that was overpaying. The hotel is extremely dirty and old. The hotel was disgusting. The bath tub was the most unsanitary unusable tub I have ever seen. Location is excellent but the room was not very inviting. Floor was dirty and it looks like the cover sheets are not being washed for days. The AC is blasting that I was freezing cold. If you are looking for a dirty, run down shanty town style shack filled with a rude staff that barely speak fluent English, feel free to throw your money away here. It bothered me greatly that the staff wasn't fluent in English and was rude, unhelpful, dismissive and flippant. The overall upkeep was poor with dingy walls, dusty decore and tired flooring. The doors and walls are thin so noise is ongoing. The linens were filthy, the comforter was ripped, wrinkled and smelled. Every single blind and curtain was broken. The shower head offered a trickle of water that could barely wash the shampoo from my hair. Half of the lamps did not function. There was no clock at all. There was no "Do Not Disturb" sign. The only plus is, in keeping with its dismal condition, the place is cheap. I'd say it rates one half of one star. It is an awesome location that would be a gem if renovated and restaffed. I was only there for 2 nights so I figured I'd try it out. BIG MISTAKE. When i arrived to check in the guy behind the counter said hello and walked away. He came back FIFTEEN minutes later and took nearly a half hour to check me in. He then explained that my room door was broken and that I would have to use a house key. We were suppose to have a suite facing the water, but when we arrived they said our reservation was for a regular King room. There were three of us, which means we needed a roll away bed for one of us. They wanted to charge us $35 extra for the bed, even though we already paid for a suite. "The worst night in a hotel....ever!"
The staff was actually pretty nice upon check-in. However, as soon as I got into the room, I regretted making the reservation. I wish I would have read other reviews because this hotel is run down and down right filthy. The sheets had stains on them, the comforter was thread bare and I could feel the springs digging into my back through all the layers […] of the sheets, as I ended up sleeping in a sleeping bag on top of the covers. The ceiling fan was making a terrible noise, there was no air conditioning, no coffee maker, which the website claims. And to finish my experience, the vinyl curtains did nothing to block street noise and the worst, I could here every single word of the staff from the front desk as if I were standing right next to them. I thought that after they turned off the blaring techno at 11:30 pm, that I'd finally be able to sleep, but no dice. I ended up having to pay for two nights even though I checked out early. "Run! Don't Stay At this Hotel"
Run from this hotel. It was the place from HELL! Checking in the front desk person was extremely rude. She was sick and coughing everywhere and completely unhelpful. Careful they charge a refundable fee for incidentals (why, I don't know, there was nothing to take)I reserved a room with 2 queen beds only to be given one with two full beds not large […] enough for 2 to sleep in. Questioning the front desk was worthless, the reply was "we don't have rooms with that option" then told to take it or leave it. I Called hotels.com and was told they could find me a new room (Not an option as I was going to a wedding in 1 hour). They refunded 15% of my stay vs. the 50% I asked for. The room was horribly run down. Squeaky bed, thin rough linens and holes in the floor. The lamps didn't work, and there was no ironing board or ice buckets. The bathroom was no better with broken handles on the faucets, peeling paint on the walls and a dirty shower. The prize of the room was the window overlooking the kitchen of the restaurant next door complete with all the workers smoking outside and looking in the window. The walls were so thin I heard the next room laughing and coughing all night, it was so clear, I was shocked they weren't in the room. "Pictures are VERY deceiving"
My husband and I recently booked a night at The Cavalier Hotel. Looking at the pictures online, it seemed like a great deal: close beach access, adorable retro boutique hotel, & well kept rooms. As soon as we checked in & went to our rooms, I nearly cried. At least 10 flies buzzing around in our room, a broken lamp, view of a dumpster, basically it […] looked like the Bates Motel. I went to the front desk, told them about the bug issue & they informed me there were no other rooms available, & that they would spray ours. So we went out to dinner, came back, & the problem was worse. Flies EVERYWHERE. Once again I went to the front desk, complained, & demanded something be done. Miraculously, a room opened up. So we moved to the somewhat less noisy 2nd floor, opened the door, & MORE bugs. And not just that, but a moldy shower, busted tv, & stained blankets with holes in them. We had nowhere else to go...so we slept for a couple hours & immediately checked out as early as we could. The next morning when I went to check out I demanded to speak to a manager. I showed her pictures I took of the mold, bugs, & stains, & asked if it was possible to get some of our money back. I hate being a pest & a bother, but this was unacceptable. I could care less if a hotel is old & the rooms minimalistic...as long as it's CLEAN!!!!!! The manager gave us 50% of our money back & told us things will be taken care of. Got to the hotel and found out there was no place to park and no choice but to pay their vallet $25 a day to park our car for us. Housekeeping didn't show up some of the days and the days they did they never restocked our towels. We had to go find them to get towels.
