"LOUD - Getaway"

The hotel is in a great location. If your looking for something in the heart of south beach then this is it. If your looking for something private and quite then this is not the best choice. Since there is a bar downstairs and my room happen to be right above it..it did get loud. Also since it is an older hotel the walls are paper thin and we can hear […] everything that was going on in the other bathroom. Went here just needing a place to sleep after sitting on the beach all day and going out for dinner and clubs at night. For this purpose, this hotel is great. Advertises all rooms with refreshment bars. Not only is tis not true they do not even have refridgerators in the rooms so you can bring your own or vending machines. So if you want a drink or a snack you have to go for a walk to the nearest convience store. Not really thier fault but between the people upstairs walking around and all of the screaming and anf horn blowing all night we had to come back home to get some rest from what was supposed to be our break away from everything. Positive: We came to the hotel before noon, and they gave us a nice room, though the check in time is 3 pm. The cleaning was every day, therefore everything in our room was clean. There are several paintings in the room as well as at the corridor. The rooms are nicely decorated and cosy. The personal is friendly and ready to help. Everything worked. "Would stay here again based on $$ and location."
The hotel lobby as well as the rooms have a bit of a musky smell. The shower's water temperature changes by itself. for example, if you are taking a hot shower, the water will unexpectedly turn scorching hot every few minutes, and the return to set temperature. There were no outlets in the entire room available for use except for one in the bathroom […] and it would not work all the time. This made it difficult to charge multiple items at once. After reading some of the other reviews, I could understand what people said about it being noisy. This hotel is right on Collins Ave. so you can hear a lot of noise at night, especially on the weekends. The tenants are also pretty loud on the weekends and at night. The people who stay here are a mixed crowd - some families with children, young adults, and older couples without children. if you stay here, take advantage of your complimentary glass of wine from 5-6pm. If you valet your car here, let the desk clerk know about half an hour before you actually need it. They are pretty slow about getting your car. Despite some of the inconveniences I listed above, I would have to say I would stay here again, because the price was reasonable (book well in advance for the best rates) and the location was perfect. It is 1 block from the beach, 2 blocks from Espanola Way, a few blocks from Lincoln Mall, and just a few blocks from club Mansion and club Cameo. We walked everywhere! At first we were nervous about the appearance of the entire area. Once checked in and we figured out the parking nightmare everything was fine. The Hotel staff was VERY friendly and helpful. A few nice touches, complimentary wine and light breakfast were included that we didn't know about until checking in. Easy walking distance ( less than 1 block […] ) to all of South Beach, that was great. If you are NOT a late night party animal, you should probably ask for a room that is not on the ground floor, as the party outside on the street doesn't end until 5am. Hotel is as we expected in the older art-deco area, we wanted the full on South Beach experience and it was perfect, even though it's older it's pretty well maintained and clean. "in the middle of the action"
We were on our honeymoon and going on a cruise on monday, decided to stay in south beach sunday nite. $35 cab from the airport. Great service, we got there early and they kept our luggage in a locked room untill we were able to check in. The room smelled clean although some of the towels had stains on them. "Miami Art Deco"
Stayed in a superior King room and the decor was superb. There were really noisy renovations going on though. The complimentary breakfast that was served to all guests was decent fare, but we only got it one out of the three nights we stayed there as we were not able to make the time frame breakfast was being served. Pity the charge is all encompassing, […] regardless of whether you consumed breakfast or not. We also never once got the wine reception which was part of the extra fee even though we were there at the right time two of the three days.
