Just a short walk from famed Ocean Drive, the South Beach Plaza Hotel is located in the entertainment district and within blocks of the Miami Beach Marina, galleries, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs of the area. This Art Deco hotel opened in 1936.

Architecturally, the South Beach Plaza Hotel retains the boutique-style charm that made it popular in the 1940s. The public rooms feature artistic pieces and original terrazzo floors. Art Deco curtains hang from the windows and carpets were designed in India. Guests may lounge in the gardens under hanging lanterns after enjoying cocktails at De Carlos Bar. Complimentary wireless internet access is also available. Complimentary continental breakfast is served.

The hotel is one block from the beach where jet skis, wave runners, and parasails are available for rental. Complimentary beach towels are provided by the hotel. There is a nearby running track as well as a park with a volleyball court and a children's playground. Two miles from the hotel, the Miami Beach Golf Club has an 18-hole course designed by Arthur Hills, a driving range, and a pro shop.

"Okay for a short stay"
Upon arriving the service was fast and friendly. The room is clean. However, if you're looking for something romantic this is not the best hotel for that. Great for a short 1 night stay. "Stay Away from this hotel"
This is a ONE STAR Hotel - Not a 3 Star. Only good thing about this hotel was its location. Very close to the beach, bars and other downtown shops. But that's about it. Hotel is very old. Lift has a note on it that it can accommodate only 3 persons at a time otherwise it will stop between floors! Very scary. The hotel is cute and in walking distance to Ocean Ave and Espanola Way. Unfortunately, the overwhelming smell of the chemical that they use to cover up the smell in rooms where people may smoke (they have a sign at the front desk stating that a $30 cleaning fee will be assessed if you smoke in your room), is a bit distracting. We had no hot water for two days and were made to feel like unreasonable when we complained to hotel staff. We were offered a shower in another room however there was only ever one staff member on reception at a time so no one was able to bring us the key to the other room. First off I researched hotels for a great place near everything, and this was the place. However that was about all it had going. Don’t get to excited when you see the pictures of this hotel. The rooms look nothing like them. The room was very small with two beds and a TV. It was filthy. Dust was everywhere (floor, TV, night stand). The bathroom was very small. It was impossible for me to brush my teeth, because of a huge cabinet right above the sink, that was taking all the space. […] Not to mention the bed. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever laid on. Every time I had to turn on my other side, the bed was making this squeaking loud obnoxious noise. What saves this hotel from being completely "disappointing" even with the score is the fact that is mere moments away from the water and the night life that is South Beach. The hotel itself isn't anything to marvel. It looks and feels like an old hotel, so while it has history, it doesn't have that much else to talk about. Das Zimmer im South Beach Plaza hat uns nicht sonderlich gefallen. Es war recht dunkel und hat feucht-muffelig gerochen. Bis auf einzelne lange schwarze Haare wirkte es aber sauber. :-) Das Frühstück war mau, kaum Auswahl und überall der Hinweis: Nur einen Bagel/Joghurt/Muffin pro Person. Das kostenlose WiFi hat leider nicht funktioniert -auch auf Nachfrage […] konnte wir da nichts erreichen. Das Parken beim Hotel war mit 26$ pro Tag recht überteuert. Für 1-2 Nächte ist es ok, aber für einen Urlaub in Miami Beach empfehlen wir, nach was anderem Ausschau zu halten... Die Lage ist sehr gut: 3min zu Fuß an den Strand und zur Party-Meile. Fatta eccezione per la posizione centralissima, non ci si può ritenere soddisfatti per l'hotel. Le condizioni lasciano abbastanza a desiderare, in generale il livello della manutenzione è inadeguato. Dopo aver trascorso due notti in una camera al piano rialzato, priva di luce esterna, con un vecchio televisore e deliziati dal rumore notturno della macchina […] del ghiaccio posizionata a fianco, ho ottenuto lo spostamento in una stanza al piano superiore decisamente più dignitosa, ma che come la prima non dava accesso al wifi. Questo era disponibile soltanto nella hall, che a causa delle temperature polari assicurate dal condizionamento, risultava poco confortevole. Davvero poco amichevole l'approccio della reception, in particolare da parte di un addetto che denotava una marcata indifferenza per le richieste indirizzategli. Se ci si trova in città per lavoro questo albergo non è consigliato nel periodo dello spring break, quando è popolato da una selva di ragazzi che rendono il soggiorno alquanto agitato. Nel complesso non è equilibrato il rapporto qualità/prezzo, valutando soprattutto gli standard strutturali di un hotel che richiederebbe interventi di manutenzione ritardati probabilmente da almeno 15 anni.
