Very cute hotel right in the center of south beach. Walking distance to beach and Lincoln rd. The hotel staff was very helpful-however they were actually employees of the chelse hotel next door, their sister hotel which I actually wih I would have stayed at. It was the same price but had a very nice patio with good music playing and a bar with hookahs […] and food available and it looked a lil more modern. But back to the Astor.. The hotel staff informed me they had some issues with staff at that location so the chelse employees were running it for now.the room I originally got looked at the back of a building - which I requested a switch to a room with a better view and they switched me with no problem and were very courteous in doing so. - my room was cute with a king bed hardwood floor a tiny flat screen, windows that opened and a completely remodeled bathroom. However if you plan on taking a hot shower let me warn you that will not be an option lol. I showered with only the hot water in full blast and it only got luck warm. They provide beach towels, bag check ins & airport shuttles.. I believe the chelse next door actually provides beach chairs though. - if your looking for a quiet cute affordable & clean get away destination this is a great option, I would recommend it and would have no problem staying again!! The room was large, the living room a little sparsely furnished and could have used a little more artwork. The only truly irritating issute was the Resort Fee of $15/day at check-in. Even it the pool was open, which it wasn't, the word resort should never come into play at this hotel.

Great location. Hotel is OK overall. Very quiet despite central location. Bedding is good quality. Staff was confused around several issues, from internet password to shuttle schedule, depending who you talked to, you got different answers. The bathroom could use some renovs.

The first is that they share a valet with the hotel next store so you have to leave your car practically in the middle of the street while you go inside and wait for them to call the valet, who may take quite some time to get to you. Location, location, location. This hotel is about 2 blocks from the beach and right in the center of the action in South Beach. The staff is very warming and attentive the entire time. The one bedroom suite was okay but could have did without the cracked floor in bathroom and cracked sink. Also, a fridge or microwave would have been great if one or both was in the room. Oh and the glass door was only a half of piece of glass for the tub. The sliding door was missing I guess...smh! Other than that it was an okay stay.

Nice hotel. I would stay there again. Only had problem with itching whenever i laid in bed. Not sure if it was bed bugs since I didn't see any, and believe me, I looked. Might have been a reaction to whatever soap they use to wash linens. Overall, really nice spot at reasonable price.

the room was clean, same as the pic. but the bathroom was soooo disgusting. it looks great but when u use it u'll see how bad it is. the water in the bath tube never go away, NO HOT WATER, the towels are very old, u'll never be able to use them. but it is still nice for the price.

The assistance at the front desk was always friendly and helpful. My husband and I were only there for 4 days and for a quick trip the hotel fit the need. DO NOT STAY HERE. We arrived at the hotel for a bachelorette party and a reservation for 2 rooms but they mentioned they have been having plumbing issues and needed to put us in 3 separate rooms on separate floors. There was no hand/body soap, no towels and no phones in the room. The maid service didn't come for the entire 3 days we were there. I had […] to go to the lobby to request a towel 4 times and then they finally gave me a beach towel because they didn't have shower towels.(supposedly all were being washed) One of our rooms A/C was broken and another had a horrible sound coming from the pipes which woke us up every night. We were extremely disappointed with the Astor. There were so many quality problems: 1) The key machine was broken. So everyone had to ask a clerk to open the door to the room and there were no virtually no security checks to get into any room. 2) There was no hot water; so, only freezing cold showers were available. 3) The telephone in the room did […] not work at all. We had to walk down to the front desk to speak to the hotel clerks. 4) The room was not cleaned when we returned at 4pm. We had to request that the room be cleaned. 5) I asked to speak to the manager and was told twice that he is unavailable during the weekend and will be back Monday, when we were checking out. Eventually, the manager apologized and gave us a refund for one of the nights. We had booked a room with two double beds, being a family of two adults and two kids. However, when we arrived we were told that no such room was available. The receptionist agreed to let us have a 'suite' with one double bed and a sofa bed for the kids. This was fine but not ideal, as the sofa bed wasn't really big enough for two people. I was given a password but it didn't work for any of the networks in our room. It turned out that we could only use our wifi while in the lobby. The reason given by a second receptionist was that they were having problems with the routers. The location of the hotel is in a really seedy part of Washington Avenue. When my kids and I went for an early evening walk along this road we passed numerous youths shouting out expletives, sex shops, which my youngest son tried to enter because he saw some DVDs and thought he might be able to buy aThomas the Tankengine one. Cars pulled up shouting out at female passers by - all in all, it was no place to be with your kids. We hardly slept at night because of all the party goers passing by at 3 and 4 in the morning. It left a really disappointing feeling about Miami for my wife and I, which was a shame because we'd really been looking forward to going. I'd also like to warn other travellers NOT to order any seafood platters which are recommended to you at nearby restaurants in Oceans Drive. We were stung for $150 for one platter! After travelling eleven hours with flight delays and a long cab ride we finally arrived at the Astor. We had seven pieces of luggage, and no luggage carts are provided let alone help with bags to the room. We were on the first floor, so no elevator was needed. BTW, Our room didnt even have a room number on it so we were totally confused and turned around, had to go back to the check in desk for directions again. We opened the door and the first 'separate' room had a couch, long counter with a sink and the air conditioning unit which is one of those ones you connect to the window. It couldn't be moved, and was not in the part of the 'suite' where the bed is. Bathroom terribly small with a really weird corner shower. My husband barely fit inside. The sink faucet was wiggling loose, and areas of the ceiling throughout had patchwork needing repair. The light about the sink was out, so made it very difficult to put in contact lenses and apply mascara, but I digress. The bed was somewhat comfortable, a small television, an armoire that had a closet mirror but no lighting if you wanted to use that as an extra are to get ready. Super inconvenient. The weirdest thing of all is there was NO PHONE in the room. If you want to pay an extra 2.50 per night they will bring you one... ??? Woke up to construction noise on the balcony directly across the alley outside our window. The second morning we were awakened by an incessantly squawking quarreling flock of little green wild parrots. We did not like the fact that air conditioning 'unit' was not in the main sleeping area. Who is gonna hang out on the couch in the small adjacent room when the comfort and tv are around the corner.
