"Disappointing"
Hotel is in a great location....beach, boardwalk, blocks from South Beach....however the hotel is dated. The room are dingy, bathrooms are terrible. They have obviously bought and old hotel and put a coat of paint on it and are trying to use the Riu brand from other very nice carribean properties to charge high prices. "Sad shape and staff"
We stayed 2 days at Riu at the end of September 2011, waiting for our cruise. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the pool area. The front desk lady was upset when told we did not want a smoking room and she was very put off. When we finally got to our room the room smelled, the carpet was dirty, paint was peeling and the bath room needed […] updating. The toilet and bath tub both backed upped and would not drain ( a plumber had to be called). The front desk refused to change rooms for us, saying "they were sold out". All the rooms need to be updated and fast.... The pool area was nice and clean and the pool bar was nice. When checking out, someone signed my name for breakfast buffet to our room, even though I payed cash for the buffet. So check your bill when leaving... next to the hotel are abanded buildings and many homeless people hang out around them, would not walk around at night. The price was good and location was alright, although there was still a lot of construction in the neighbouring buildings. beach access was good to have, and you could use your pool towels at the beach. It's about a 20 minute walk, if you walk quickly, to Lincoln Road. The decor in the room wasn't the greatest and […] they could certainly use new carpets, drapes and bed spreads, but for the price we paid it was clean and comfortable with good beds and crisp white sheets. El hotel está bien situado para mi gusto. Agradecí que no estuviera en plena zona turística de Ocean Drive, Whasintong Avenue y Lyncon Road, porque son zonas muy ruidosas, pero a la vez el hotel está cerca, 15 m andando o 5 m en autobús, que hay hasta 3 que puedes coger y que paran en la puerta del hotel. Tambien está bien situado si quieres ir al norte […] de Miami Beach y ver y comprar en el Aventure Mall. Piscina preciosa con acceso directo a una estupenda playa y a un paseo marítimo de madera bonito. Habitación espaciosa, la nuestra con vistas al mar, y camas grandísimas con almohadas soprendentemente cómodas para los que padecemos de cuello. Dejligt ophold tæt på stranden. Gode værelser. God service. Dejlig morgenbuffet. Vi boede på hotellet 3 dage og nød den korte afstand til det hele. South Beach/Rodeo Drive på 20 min. gang ad den smukke strandsti. Dejligt hotel. Stor reception. Dejligt poolområde. Dejligt stort værelse med havudsigt og balkon. Værelser trænger til renovering/maling, […] de er lidt slidte. Gulvtæppet var ulækkert fedtet og med nedgroet skidt. Det var dog ikke noget som ødelagde det gode ophold. Hôtel et service impeccables. Buffet petit dej et buffet diner a prix très raisonnable. Possibilité de déjeuner (tres bon!) au bar de la piscine pour pas cher (salades César, club sandwich, oranges pressées...). Bien situé (31 st) : 15 minutes a pied de Lincoln Road et 25 minutes du welcome art déco center en longeant la plage. Idéalement situé pour […] le jogging et pour le golf (a moins de 10 minutes).
