The room was very small. The light didnt work on the night stand only a bright light on the fan that you could not dim. The fan didnt work and the ac was not blowing hard at all. The noise in the hall from people coming and going was very loud at all times.

The location was really good. Very close to everything. Easy to get to by bus. The rooms are very small, I had read about that in the previous reviews so was not surprised. The bathrooms are even smaller. The door and the shower door collided when open at the same time. There is no where to put any stuff at all. The air conditioner was really loud as […] well as the elevator (our room was right by the elevator). There was no continental breakfast as stated by Hotels.com, just an overpriced restaurant. And the restaurant out front made it nearly impossible to get in the front door without dodging the entire wait staff just standing in the way. A year ago, we had visited South Beach and were taken with how open the front of the Winterhaven seemed, how open the lobby was, that is why we decided to stay there this year, but in a quest to use every square inch for money making, they have bogged down the front like every other place on the beach. This was my 4th time to stay at the Winter Haven. I keep going back because the location is perfect, but I've always wished the rooms were a little nicer and the staff would be a little more friendly and helpful. Well, I've finally gotten my wish. The hotel has been remodeled and the rooms are super nice now. And I was surprised at how professional […] and helpful the staff were. Front desk quickly resolved issue I had with the prepaid reservation. My only complaint is that there is no ice machine anywhere in the hotel. But there is an ice bucket in my room??? This was a GREAT Location and Value!!! The room was better than other similar rated hotels in the same area where I stayed. The only problem was the ceiling fan controls were not user friendly and the TV malfunctioned.

Hotel is nice and good value. Got charged a mandatory "amenities fee" on check in for a breakfast, gym discount and internet I didn't need/use, but location was great and we were overall very satisfied. Very professional staff. Clean.

All in all it was a good place to stay - HOWEVER, there was construction during my visit of which I was unaware. The lobby was a disaster! And all day long, there was pounding and sawing and drilling. Then, while I am on a conference call with my office, the fire alarm goes off. The fire alarm went off 4 times in 45 minutes. Once this started, we tried […] to get down the elevator - which was a joke as well. There is 1 elevator of which was shared with all 5 floors as well as the cleaing crew and the construction workers. It took FOREVER, it was so frustrating. I would have just taken the stairs but the constuction blocked those as well. Lastly, after talking to the front desk about the fire alarm, they just blew us off like it was no big deal. I was very dissappointed with how everything was handled. I believe it would have been a delightful stay if it weren't for the ridiculous construcion and the lack of consideration by management. Overall a good experience but for a couple of things. Carpet was dirty in room and windows were so dirty could not see out of them. Hotel has just changed ownership and so I expect to see improvements. I would stay again. Watch the valet service, which is contracted, they damaged my car and tried to get away with it. When you check in, you're given a list of amenities at the hotel such as beach towels, breakfast, afternoon snacks, $5 discount at the bar, etc. This list is represented as being a list of free benefits of the hotel. When I checked out of the hotel, however, the staff member asked if she should charge $45 to my credit card for amenitites on the list. […] After insisting that I was never told that there was a charge for these amenities, she relented, but I think they must often charge people for what is initially represented as being free. The hotel was nice. They always had bottled water sitting out which was helpful with the 90 degree weather. The beach is right across the street and there are plenty of resturants along the street. The room is very, very small. You can barely turn around. Overall the stay was nice!

Stay at the Winterhaven because of it's location. It wasn't that clean (mold on the shower curtain) and they would only give us 30 extra minutes for late checkout. But we got a discounted rate through hotels.com, the free breakfast was a nice perk, and the location can't be beat. Just don't think it's the Ritz.

Hotel was nice. Small room, but was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. TV remote did not work, but otherwise friendly and comfortable and excellent location. There is a large Starbucks about a half a block from the hotel.

The Winterhaven is a well-maintained hotel, it has preserved the art deco look inside and out. It is probly the best deal on Ocean Drive. It faces the Atlantic and is within easy walking distance of many, many restaurants and shops. The bedding is all white and comfortable. The bathroom sparkled with all-white tile and furnishings. Great location! Across the street is the beach. Ate breakfast on the front patio. Close to shopping stores, restaurants...walked everywhere. No Pool, Large Bar or Restaurant in this hotel, which is what we wanted, but you can walk to them. Room clean, price is good. It was great, front desk folks were very nice too!

I usually stay more uptown when I visit SoBe, and was sort of bummed out that I couldn't this time, but the Winterhaven was recommended by someone who works down there, and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked that it was a more central location, and we could experience the more loud, fun south side, or go a little more uptown to have some quiet time. […] The beach was right across the street, and the hotel supplied towels and chairs. The continental breakfasts on the hotel porch were wonderful. A nice array of items to choose from. Service was good, and staff was always friendly. The only one thing I would change would have been to not have the room right next to the elevator, and our bed seemed a little small, even though i was reassured that it was a queen size. Hotellet ligger nesten øverst på Ocean Drive - perfekt beliggenhet bare få minutters gange fra "alt" på South Beach, samtidig som det er relativt stille og rolig rundt hotellet (de fleste utestedene ligger litt lenger ned i gaten). Stranden er rett over veien. Man får låne strandstoler og -hånklær på hotellet. Parkering i området koster litt, men det […] finnes flere P-hus. Frokosten på hotellet ver OK, men ikke kom i site liten, for da er utvalget dårlig! Det mest negative med hotellet var betjeningen, som generelt var litt ite serviceinnstilte...OBS! Du betaler for beliggenheten. Den er det ingen ting å si på. Frokosten var OK (Vaffel med sirup, eller toast med syltetøy) Rommet var rent og pent. Sjøgløttet vi betalte for var minimalt. Vinduene var ikke vasket.
