I really have to admit that I was positively surprised by the hotel. When we checked in the service was nice and friendly. We noticed some kind of scent. Some might like it others not. The room itself was like an apartment with kitchen, dining area, bedroom, living room, bathroom, balcony, 2 TVs. The 2 queen size beds had both nice and comfy foam mattresses. […] And overall during the night it was not to loud. So I would definitely go there again. The hotel itself is close to Lincoln Rd and Ocean Drive. The room was clean. Downstairs you'll find a bar that is set back from the Collins Ave. So you can sit outside and there is not too much noise. Read more

If you're wanting to go to south beach for the nightlife, this hotel is perfect, close to many miami hotspots and within either walking distance or a short taxi ride to the others this hotel is in a good location. Nice, clean hotel. Good location if you like to walk- not much within the same block. Good walk to go shopping. Was disappointed because we arrived early and although I didn't expect to be able to check-in, when I spoke to the front desk to find out when we should come back, the woman said that she upgraded us to a junior suite and marked the suite […] number on our parking receipt. GREAT! When we returned from lunch, a man that appeared to be a manager-type, saw the room number and told the desk person to change in to another room. Tired and hot I didn't question it because I thought it was to a different junior suite. But NO. We were given a regular room- which we expected from the beginning but after being told we were getting a junior suite (which are in a much nicer location/actually the pix listed in the ad are where the suites are, not the regular rooms- which are in a higher-rise area of the hotel) it was disappointing, so it kind of colored our stay. The room was modernized & clean & had all necessary ameities. We have to be back in Miami in January & I was hoping to stay here again- but I think we'll check someplace else. Read more

I was scared because I have purchased hotels on Expedia before in South Beach and twice was utterly dissappointed, in one instance even disgusted so I was weary. When we got to the lobby I knew that it was going to be ok this time. I was pleasently surprised when we reached out room and it was BEAUTIFUL! It was newly renovated and that was a RELIEF! […] The staff was so great, especially Jovani and Cynthia at the front desk. Even the sister hotel Marseilles, the wait staff Sergio and Roman, were very pleasant and accomodating. Jovani even upgraded our room when he realized that we had two children with us just so that we wouldn't be close to the noisyness of the street and partygoers. He didn't have to do that but he did, and that made my husband and I smile. Not a lot of places in South Beach are "family friendly" and I've learned that the hard way, but the Dorchester surely made us say "We will definently come back!" I stayed at the Dorchester hotel this past saturday night to Sunday. I have to say that over all we were very satisfied. Just a few things that could've given it a solid 5 stars: 1) given the fact that the hotel is faily small, there is only one elevator. So we had to use the stairs failry often. No big deal since our room was on the second floor. But […] stairs had a funky smell, like wet dog smell, sort of when a dog is bathed and left to air dry. 2) parking situation was horrible, on top of the fact that apparently you had to rent your parking spot early, the parking are itself was very small. One of the valets recomended i parked valet across the street. I didnt know he took my car across the street to another hotel's valet parking. It also took 20 minutes to retrieve my car on sunday! Horrible. Other than that the hotel stay itself was amazing, we had so much fun at the bar we didn't have to actually go out anywhere. Read more

There was a problem with breakfast my cousin went to use the toaster and moved it slightly and a bunch of baby roaches came out. Needless to say we left without finishing our breakfast. Our rooms were nice and clean staff apologized for incedent at breakfast. Overall the stay was good except for the breakfast incedent.

The hotel is within walking distance of Lincoln Road and across the street from the beach, so the location is great. The room is the bare minimum, but comfortable enough. I have to say that I thought the staff at the Dorchester were some of the friendliest in South Beach. My only complaint would be that there is a man who lives in an apartment across the street from the hotel (directly across from our room) who is a complete pervert aned exposed himself to us on numerous occasions, pretty much everytime we opened our […] door. I stayed at the Dorchester Hotel for 5 nights in late February. The hotel room itself was pretty nice. I liked the fact that it had hardwood floors over carpets (I figure carpets are much grosser and wood can be cleaned better). The hotel room was clean, modern, and a reasonable size. The hallways of the hotel are a little dated and kind of have a musty […] odor, but there was no odor in the actual hotel room so I didn't really care. I never used the pool because I prefer the beach. The hotel comes with 2 free beach chairs and umbrella for each day you stay, which was a great deal. The Dorchester Hotel and the Marseilles Hotel (nearby) have some sort of agreement to use the lounge chairs on the beach for the Marseilles Hotel. The Marseilles is on the walk to the beach so we just stopped in and picked up towels there and then headed to the beach. The only complaint I have about the hotel room is the shower was a little dated, but not a big deal because I don't go barefoot in public showers anyhow. We did have a few minor issues (toilet clog and hairdryer broke), and the staff at the front desk was very helpful and responsive to correct the issues. The location was pretty good. It wouldve been nicer to be a little closer to the heart of the action on the Ocean Drive area but it was only a 10-15 min walk. You can also take the 25cent per person bus down (not sketchy at all. just tourists) to the southern portion of south beach and then walk your way back up and check things out. I would also recommend the Lincoln Mall area for dining/coffee/starbucks...This is an outdoor mall (basically a very wide street with lots of shops/restaurants/starbucks with lots of outdoor seating areas. It is much cleaner, newer, and less seedy than the rest of South Beach. A classic Miami Beach art deco property. Clean and nice, rooms recently refurnished & painted but a little worn. TV channel selection weak and reception poor. Nice hot breakfast room and evening bar. I was a little upset the moment I noticed that this hotel wasn't on the beach. I looked up waterfront properties on Expedia and the Dorchester was listed. Once I looked through the ameneties I was sure this was the perfect place to stay. When we arrived I was told that I was wrong for assuming they were on the beach and that they did have a sister hotel […] that was on the beach across the street. I was sent over to look at a room so that if we wanted to change hotels we could. But upon arriving at the Marsielles Hotel they had us waiting at the front desk for 30mins and then looked at us with a wierd look on their faces and said "Oh there's only one room available with a kingsize bed", that wasn't going to work since I was there with a family memeber. They didn't try to help us at all. The whole purpose of this trip was to be on the beach. I don't blame the hotel for this error but they shouldn't told us we could move to the sister hotel and send us there if they couldn't do it... Other than that the Dorchester Hotel was nice. I think it's ridiculus that one has to pay $30 a day to park a rental in the hotel that you are already paying to stay in. It was right across the street from the beach and walking distance from the lincoln street mall, so the location was perfect for us. We stayed at the Dorchester Hotel for the second time. Compared to other hotels in South Beach it's a really good value. The rooms are very nice and large and the hotel is quite well maintained. Except for the rooms that are to the street, it's relatively quiet and we slept very well. The hotel is a short walk to Lincoln Road and close to the beach. […] A big plus is that guests can use the beach access of the Marseilles Hotel across the street. Just don't leave your pajamas on the bed or they will be gone after the bed is made. This happened to us on both of our stays. Nice hotel overall with big and relatively clean rooms. However, parking is not included $25 per day, and there is a ridiculous $10/day "resort" fee, whether you use the tiny pool they have or not. The receptionists are nice although a bit disorganized, so make sure you double check everything.

For me, stepping into the Dorchester was like entering a 1980's-built apartment building that's undergone one of those instant staging makeover shows. You can tell the base hotel is old, but it's been overhauled with new fixtures, decor and hardware that makes it all seem much newer. I would have given this place 5 stars if it had not been for the […] shock of paying $35/day more than hotels.com lists it for. Parking isn't guaranteed and if you do get a spot, it is $25 a day. You'll also pay $10/day resort fee. I'd have much rather had that built into the room rate rather than feeling like I was getting surcharged/nickel and dimed to death. The people are nice enough, the rooms are clean and the location is fabulous if you want access to the Miami Beach Convention Center. We didn't get parking at the hotel, so we went to the 16th street garage. Parked the truck there and never touched it until the show was over 5 days later. Paid $96 to get the truck back out, but it was nice to have been able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Restaurants abound, Starbucks, CVS, electronics shops, convention center - all within walking distance. Read more

While the hotel was in a good location and clean, our suite was on the first floor in the back next to the main building of the hotel. All of the windows were frosted over, for privacy, but then it made it dark during the day. The suite was spacious, clean and newly renovated, but the decorum was very dark and since the windows were frosted, it made […] it dark inside. Also, the flood lights from the main building shined right at our bedroom window, so our right was somewhat lit up during the night. I reported this upon check out. I stayed at the Dorchester for almost 2 weeks. The stay was very nice, the hotel is comfortable, with newly renovated rooms. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful.
