The Kent is a restored Art Deco hotel in the South Beach area of Miami Beach, Fla. The hotel is less than one block from the beach and Lummus Park, and six blocks from the shops at Lincoln Road. The Jackie Gleason Theatre of the Performing Arts and the Miami Beach Convention Center are both located one mile from The Kent.
Hotel Features.
Originally built in 1936, the Kent has been refurbished to a dazzling and capricious masterpiece. The lobby's original mahogany accents and classic terrazzo floors have been well maintained, while the new furnishings and details explode in an array of colors. The lobby is splashed with lavender, orange and red oversized chairs. Board games are available in the lobby and a kiosk offers high-speed Internet access for a fee. The 228-square-foot Hibiscus room is available for meetings and production offices. Computers rental is available. The Kent features an on-site garden area perfect for reflection.
Guestrooms.
The striking guestrooms have the same attention to detail as the public areas, integrating ultra- contemporary style into vintage accommodations. The 59 guestrooms are designed with lavender walls, blond wood flooring and brushed steel accents. Accommodations feature desks, 32-inch LCD televisions with cable service, DVD players, clocks with iPod docks, in-room safes and complimentary wireless Internet access. Amenities include makeup/shaving mirrors and complimentary toiletries.
Connecting/adjoining rooms may be available, subject to availability, and can be requested by contacting the property at the number on the booking confirmation.

"Pleasant Stay"
Good stay. Very close to excitement on South Beach. Close to Mango's! I love that place. Overall it was a pretty good stay. Only complaint: no parking. The Kent is located in the Art Deco area with that South Beach charm. The room and hotel are older and need a bit of updating. The rooms were clean but very basic. You can't beat the location, although plan to spend 30-45 minutes on Collins Ave. if you are driving at any time other than the morning. The rooms were clean. The whole ambience is from the 50s or 60s, but acceptable. The narrow hallways and plain doors reminded me of a college dorm. No views at all, but that didn't matter because you are in the middle […] of everything once you step outside. It took a long time to check in. The staff is very friendly and a touch eccentric (you almost feel more like you are in a nightclub than a hotel--but that isn't meant as a complaint), but they use very old equipment (who uses a credit card imprint machine anymore?) and seemed to have trouble with it. the only complaint I have about this hotel is that the room is small. There is a little table top ledge above the fridge that you literally had to squeeze by. But that's it! Good hotel, 5 minute walk away from the beach. Right in the middle of shopping, food, anything else you could ask for in Miami. "Kent's Wonders"
The concierge was very helpful as well as the cleaning crew. The hotel does have a mildew odor but the other hotels closer to the ocean had the same smell. The hotel is in the perfect spot from the clubs, restaurants and ocean. It is noisy but your in Miami (plus I went during Spring Break). The walls are thin but I got lots of rest. I stayed for 6 […] days but well worth it. There is a restaurant attached but I didn't get to eat at it. The only complaint was that they ran out of towels but they quickly gave us towels a hour later. The shower head comes from the ceiling but it is nice. We had a refrigerator which was great.
