Location. The Catalina Hotel is located on Collins Avenue in south Miami Beach, Fla. Lincoln Road's eclectic cafés and designer boutiques are two blocks from this property.
Hotel Features. The Catalina Hotel consists of three buildings that display distinctive style. The Catalina Building houses the main reception desk and features stark white and vivid crimson décor throughout. Past the lobby are a koi fish pond and an outdoor bamboo garden lined with chocolate-brown couches. The lobby of the Maxine building features eclectic furnishings, a pool table, a bar and a coffee shop. The Maxine Restaurant is the only full-service, street-side restaurant on Collins Avenue and provides a prime perspective for people watching. The main pool, bordered by lounge chairs and cabanas, is located outside the Maxine building. The Dorset building features the Kung Fu Sushi restaurant. A vibrant mural of a Kung Fu disc jockey, painted by a local artist, enlivens the space.
Adjacent to the main public area is a library and conversation room furnished with black settees. The Catalina Hotel's bars host nightly cocktail hours where guests receive one complimentary beverage. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel. Shuttle service to the hotel from the airport is complimentary with printed proof of reservation. Return shuttle service to the airport is available for a surcharge.
Guestrooms. The Catalina Hotel offers 190 guestrooms. Beds are triple sheeted, and are draped beneath light waffle-weave duvets and Italian linens. Bathrooms feature rain showerheads, pedestal sinks, bathrobes and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Minibars are provided. Accommodations are equipped with plasma televisions and laptop-compatible in-room safes. Wireless Internet access is complimentary.
Pet-friendly rooms can be requested by contacting the property at the number on the booking confirmation.
Noise-free guestrooms cannot be guaranteed.
Children staying free must occupy the parent or guardian’s room with existing bedding and may not be eligible for free breakfast (if one is offered).

"Action filled spot!"
We have to thank the exceptionally courteous staff at the Catalina Beach Club-- especially Juan who upgraded us to a nicer room in a quieter building---- the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club is actually 3 buildings, all with street front bar/restaurants - live music, comfy seating-- a lot of fun-- the middle building is where the music/free happy hour […] is and it is definitely a younger crowd (my friend and I middle aged!)-- but the north building proved to be way quieter and it was a pleasantly decorated place, great room with very comfortable king bed, and pull out sleeper sofa (not so comfortable, but handy) Also, 2 pretty pools-- we thought the bar at Maxine's Bistro, one of hotel restaurants, had best mojito in town----For the price this was a great deal and short block from beach with beach chairs inc (chair and umbrella rentals $ if hotel doesn't include-- good to know as South Beach isn't cheap- lots of hidden costs it seemed)-- at any rate, this is close enough to the bars and restaurants on Ocean Drive-- like 5 blocks down and one block over-- would stay here again! "Great Location the Best Value for the Price"
I have stayed here twice now. I would have to say for the price the value of what you get can not be compared. They have free airport shuttle, free drinks from 7-8 and free wi fi. The location is within walking distance to everything. The Ritz and Delano is just across the street The beach is also across the street and they do have have beach area at […] the beach. We found all the staff to be very nice and and right there when ever we needed something. for $200 more a night we could have and considered staying at the Ritz but did not see the value in that. If you are looking to be in the heart of all the restuarants, beach, shopping and still on a budget I would recommend this place. I have no problem in paying luxury and top of the line if i see the value. Here I just did not see staying accross the street to worth an added $1200 to the trip. How i determined that is by also considering if i had to pay for wi fi, taxi, difference in drink prices at the pool etc. the differnce would have been about $1200.00 for 4 nights. Also note there is a difference in rooms You will want to stay in the D rooms the hallways in Maxines are dirty so if you can overlook look the hallways in the Maxine building for the savings you should enjoy your stay. Overall this is regular South Beach art-deco boutique hotel and don't expect something special. Good thing - there are two swimming pools. The bad one - our room was very close to the lobby where there was noisy live-band and the same noisy people. The Catalina hotel was terrific for what most of us need. Really friendly staff, three restaurants at your doorstep (part of the hotel property) with delicious food and great location close to the beach and Ocean Drive. The beds are wonderful and the room was clean. So the only issues would be that in one area of the hotel there is a rooftop lounge and the music could be heard in the room. "What a delightful surprise!"
We had never been to Miami Beach before so did not have a point of reference when booking the hotel as to location and what to expect. When we arrived we discovered the hotel was right in the heart of the action. The hotel was so charming and even offered a free cocktail hour. The other patrons of the hotel were a diverse group and the staff was efficent […] and plesant. Our room was smaller than the photos on line lead us to believe, but it was fine. More like a European styled room and not oversized American style. The style was unique and really very charming. Shower was quite small but was really sufficent. This is a really great hotel for the price. The rooms are small but perfect for a long weekend. Love the Tempurpedic mattress. I had an amazing experience here. the staff was wonderful and attentive. The room was very attractive and comfortable. The restaurants were fantastic. The open bar from 7-8 was great for meeting people. I did not get to see the rooftop pool because I was so taken by the bamboo pool. But I am sure it was equally beautiful.
