Location. The Catalina Hotel is located on Collins Avenue in south Miami Beach, Fla. Lincoln Road's eclectic cafés and designer boutiques are two blocks from this property.
Hotel Features. The Catalina Hotel consists of three buildings that display distinctive style. The Catalina Building houses the main reception desk and features stark white and vivid crimson décor throughout. Past the lobby are a koi fish pond and an outdoor bamboo garden lined with chocolate-brown couches. The lobby of the Maxine building features eclectic furnishings, a pool table, a bar and a coffee shop. The Maxine Restaurant is the only full-service, street-side restaurant on Collins Avenue and provides a prime perspective for people watching. The main pool, bordered by lounge chairs and cabanas, is located outside the Maxine building. The Dorset building features the Kung Fu Sushi restaurant. A vibrant mural of a Kung Fu disc jockey, painted by a local artist, enlivens the space.
Adjacent to the main public area is a library and conversation room furnished with black settees. The Catalina Hotel's bars host nightly cocktail hours where guests receive one complimentary beverage. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel. Shuttle service to the hotel from the airport is complimentary with printed proof of reservation. Return shuttle service to the airport is available for a surcharge.
Guestrooms. The Catalina Hotel offers 190 guestrooms. Beds are triple sheeted, and are draped beneath light waffle-weave duvets and Italian linens. Bathrooms feature rain showerheads, pedestal sinks, bathrobes and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Minibars are provided. Accommodations are equipped with plasma televisions and laptop-compatible in-room safes. Wireless Internet access is complimentary.

We booked through hotels.com and were only staying one night. The staff put us in the LOUDEST room ever, literally we were screaming to hear eachother. Also when we walked into the room there was garbage in the toilet and the trash hadn't been taken out. For the extraordinary amount of money I paid to stay at the Catalina Beach Club I was highly unimpressed. It was dirty, loud, and the smallest hotel I've ever stayed in. our room was number 103. it was steps from the lobby and was so loud that we were unable to sleep. Across from our room was the public ladies room and all night we heard the toilet flush and girls laughing. This was a vile hotel and i would never stay here again. Never again! Honestly to all those people thinking of staying here, even if it's for 1 night, I only have 2 words - STAY AWAY!! Go somewhere else even if it costs a little bit extra. THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER! Me and my partner are your average travellers and the noise was simply shocking! The club on the rooftop starts from 10am and goes through till […] night time. It's unbearable! It's only a 3 storey hotel so even if you're on the first floor you can hear it. They put us in a room in the building next door. To get to our room we had to; walk out of the lobby, back out on the street and then walk through a restaurant to get to the lifts. While the location should be said was good - short stroll to the beach and Lincoln Road, the ambience and experience of the hotel was painful. It's more like a Motel than a Hotel. The staff were unhelpful and the conceirge even scammed us with NBA tickets. He said he could get tickets but that we could only pay him cash (should've set alarm bells ringing as soon as he said that!) Thinking the hotel wouldn't rip customers off, he charged us double the ticket price. We would've given him a tip for getting the tickets for us but to simply rort people double the amount is disgusting. He black texta marked the price on the actual e-ticket and gave us a written up letter instead which he put together with the inflated charge showing as our receipt. The first thing we did when we arrived was went to lunch at the restaurant at the Hotel, Maxine's. The service was so bad we couldn't bare to leave a tip. I didn't even think they deserved the money for the bill. We sat there for 30 mins before anyone even came over to ask for drinks. They didn't even leave us hand soap. You can not adjust the room temperature yourself. The room stayed at 70-75 the entire time (very uncomfortable) even though we set the termo at 60. One night we wanted to go to bed a little early bc we had a busy next day and we couldn't even sleep because the lobby was playing "club" music extremely loud until 11:30PM. "Dirty Sleazy Hotel"

I mean you would almost need a flashlight to walk the corridors - it is crazy. And the carpets - if you have the misfortune of staying here - have a look - they are absolutely filthy. I couldnt wait to leave. Even my partner who is really laid back was disgusted. It really put a dampner on our stay. I agree 110% with the guy who wrote in his review that the hotel was 'seedy' - i couldnt think of a better word. It is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. I was stunned on reading some of the reviews which raved about the place - are these people deluded? Take my word for it - keep as far away from this hotel as you can - but if you want something grotty, dirty and seedy then go for it.
