The hotel staff were very polite and tried to be nice: however first room was disgusting and the hallway smelt like a sewer. The Continental is what it is, don´t expect more. The price is clear enough. But during the art fair Basel Miami, all hotel prices are more than double of usual rate. It has the best location, next to the best hotels, the rooms are big, really big. Staff tries their best. We booked this hotel for a last minute vacation to Miami Beach during the December art fairs, so our options were limited. While it wasn't the fanciest hotel we've ever been in, it wasn't the worst. "If you can avoid it, don't stay here."
This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I was in town on business and didn't find out until after I had check in that calling "room service" would be an outside call, the "free wireless" was only available in the lobby, not all the rooms were had a functioning iron/iron board, the front desk staff was rude and inattentive when they did answer […] the phone, and that sleeping on the street would have been an improvement to that hellhole... TV and phone were broken. No fridge. Not enough light in the room. Air conditoning was not programmable and blew continuously. Towels were replaced only when all were used. No toothpaste. Room was clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and helpfull, but, After the second night, I had 10 bites on my legs. Bed Bugs? My acces to AOL was compromised (someone changed my password). This hotel was an absolute slum! It was in such a great location, between two wonderful hotels, and it was a spring break nightmare! Literally 8 loud college kids in one room behind us, 5 channels on tv (with 3 in spanish), no wifi in the rooms, a disgusting pool. Hotel lobby is decent but once you step out of the elevator to your floor, the atmosphere changes. The walls are dirty and terribly painted, the carpet is soiled, and there is an odd smell. It was a real dump.
