So far we have stayed at the Sands on each of our trips to SLO. I love the convenient access from the freeway and the budget price. Parking can be problematic but other than that, it's a great little hotel.

I think parts of the hotel/motel are older buildings redone. While it looks okay the walls between the rooms were never insulated for noise. Our bed was right next to the one next door and unfortunately he/she was a snorer. It felt as that person was in our room, consequently we got hardly any sleep that night.

This aged motel is badly in need of maintenance. I was told that several rooms were not assignable because some element didn't work. It took three tries before we were assigned a room in which the heater actually worked. The WiFi was so weak that it would not support a Skype call. And so on. This was the first and last visit for us.

Our stay was for 3 days for our son's graduation. We have stayed here before, and were very pleased, therefore recommended it to our family members, who were also coming in for the gradutation. Overall, our stay was good, however there were a few things that had not been taken care of in our room. The coffee pot didn't work. After placing a note on […] it, the pot was taken away, but not replaced. The iron didn't work, which would have been nice to freshen up my son's graduation gown. Also, the refridgerator was not working. All of these things were not a huge issue, but should have been checked by the staff. For the price of this hotel, it is nice, and the continental breakfast that is available is also nice (alot of selection, and kept supplied well). We will stay here again if our travels bring us back to SLO. Read more

While this hotel was rated a 2 1/2, I think it was actually lower. I did not have any soap or hair dryer in the room. Heater was very noisy. The interior furnishings were worn. OK, but I would not stay here again.

Nothing fancy or special about the stay. Looked and felt more like a motel rather than a hotel and overpriced for the quality of the room. My wife and I don't think we'll stay here again. We only stayed overnight on our way to San Francisco.

The staff was very friendly and concerned about our having a nice stay with them. We take many trips to San Luis Obispo during the year. My grandson attends Cal Poly. We had a great experience at this hotel. The check-in was efficient. The clerk was friendly and very helpful. He gave us great recommendations for restaurants. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The room had a coffee maker, microwave and a small refrigerator. We would definitely return to this hotel.

Mattress very uncomfortable, towels thread bare, bare minimum, tub filled up during shower, faucet had only cold water, breakfast was white, and then they charged additional $ for poss amenities or damage! Way over priced!

A quaint little hotel not too far from downtown. The cable television leaves MUCH to be desired, so make sure you have lots to do outside of your room. They do have DVD players in each room though, so that's a plus. Either bring your own DVDs or rent one from the front office. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly, room was nice.
