I'm from the area- but booked a room at the Marina Inn for a romantic New Year's Eve getaway. The room was fantastic - I found a good deal for one of the Mediterranean Club Suites. The room was huge - had a full kitchen, roomy bathroom with a tub and separate shower, and a living room with a fire place as well as an outside sitting area. The hotel gets only a 4 for quality of service because we arrived about an hour after check in is advertised to begin and had to wait an additional 30 minutes to get into our room. However, we couldn't get the fireplace to work and someone came to fix it immediately. As for convenience of location - it was perfect for us because we didn't want to go anywhere, but if you are visiting Myrtle Beach you can't really walk to anything and it's a 5 minute drive to the beach and about 10 minutes to other popular tourist destinations.
