"Wish we hadn't stayed here"
We booked for one night in a double room, just my husband and I. I wish we hadn't . The bad....1 - The property was far from full yet they put us in an OLD 3 story building with no elevator. Not so convenient when you're over 60 years old. 2 - The room was very small. "Dream crushed."
This place is the pits. From the shabby mobile home park around the property, to the condition of the room, to the poor service given, this place is a very big disappointment. Yes it has oceanfront rooms, and yes there were two queen beds, and the lazy river was okay, but that is where the positives end. It says they just went through a 6M renovation […] but I have no idea where that money went, because our room stunk, the ceiling tiles had some kind of rust around all of them, the a/c never worked right, there were pictures missing from the walls, there was light to moderate damage that we had to take pictures of so we would not get charged for, and the people at the front desk ACROSS THE STREET had no clue on just about anything. When we got to Myrtle Beach, the hotel was located near the far end of the strip. It was far away from the main attractions and gift shops. We went to check in, the staff was very nice. "Bad Remodel"
Bathroom fan in the room next to ours made the walls shake and had a load noise. As a result we had no sleep for the two nights. Calling the front desk is a waist of time, they tell you maintance is on the way up and they never show. "Accurate for the filming of Shag... still!"
We've stayed here in the past, but it's normally been in the offseason when rates were about 15% of what we paid for this hotel. The view and grounds are excellent. The room, however, is very old. When we first arrived, there were many people and parties checking in. I thought it would be a long wait, but only waited about 5 minutes before being greeted […] by the very friendly, smiling staff. I was checked in in about 2 minutes and on my way, with a set of accurate directions. I drove across the way to the little building and noticed no elevator! Got to the room, caught my breath, and opened to stainless steel (not even painted) door. Lucky for us, the bathroom had a matching stainless steel unpainted door. The doors were very tall and the lights were low, which allowed for them to touch every time they were opened and closed. The layout of the room was awkward and the room itself needed some maintenance. You know, a little tightening of a screw here, balancing of dressers so the drawers stay in, rust removal and paint, etc... Went on the balcony and the view was F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S!!! Looked like a postcard. We had a great view of the beach, pier, and pools. Room was a basic hotel room with fridge. If they updat the room, lower the seasonal rates 30% or maybe added some perks like a free dinner, drinks, etc..., I would give a better rating. The hotel is in a nice location although I did not know it was that far down Ocean Blvd. Apparently they are in the process of renovating but the description of the hotel is wrong. Guest registration was quick and the area was clean. Driving into the parking deck, there are no mirrors to help determine if a car is coming down while you are driving up. […] Accident waiting to happen, as I keep driving, I see an area where there are old sinks in a section of the parking deck. I go out on the balcony to look at the 6 pools and I see a guy working in one of the pools and they are empty. Here I am looking to get ready to go swimming and the pools are not ready. "Not what we would have expected"
Our first room was overlooking 2 pools that were not filled, just like the one in your commercial, and the position of the room was out of the way and the sliding door did not lock.. We requested a change of room and were given another room in another building. When we entered the new room it wreaked of smoke and the air conditioner/heater did not work. This hotel advertised child and family oriented atmosphere, but the only child orientation I saw was a 2' deep pool on the property. The hotel makes you pay for everything extra - seats on the beach, amenities, etc., which is really disappoiting considering how much the very small room cost us. My family and I (two kids age 9 and 7) stayed here over the fourth of July, so we did pay a lot, but for the amount we paid , even for a holiday weekend, I expected a bit more in terms of cleanliness. This hotel is dirty. The stairwells are filthy. Rooms are nothing special at all even for the deluxe which we had. Kids had fun in the pools and the nearby […] beach is great. However, as others have said the pools did look pretty dirty to us even though the kids were able to ignore it. The best thing is the location--it is centrally located and an easy drive south to Surfside and close to the Boardwalk. However, it is directly in the flight path of the airport and helicopter flight path, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep in past 6:00. All in all we had fun but we tried to avoid spending as much time in the hotel room as possible. "Not my favorite"
I was travelling alone with my two children, ages 2 & 10, and wanted to stay on the ocean for a reasonable price. We chose this one based on reviews. It was higher than I'd wanted to spend, but oceanfront isn't cheap. Check in was in a separate building, but went quickly and they sent us to our building/room. It was just nasty! Getting past the industrial […] metal 'water' door, our room was on the first floor and looked liked it had just been dried out from a recent flood. It had tiled and dirty floors, the cabinet doors were all crooked, the beds slopped down on the corners, there were FLIES flying around the ceiling and our room faced the back of the restaurant. You could PEEK out the patio to see a glimpse of the ocean. I called the manager to complain and they did move us into a better room in another building on the 2nd floor that had a balcony that overlooked the pool, pier & ocean. That room was in much better condition & fairly comfortable to stay in. Good size room will full fridge and microwave. Older decor, but acceptable. The hotel also had free wi-fi, however had a horrible signal and slow download speed and I could not talk on my cell phone because of the low signal. This hotel is on the airport approach so there are constantly jets & helicopters flying overhead and I think that when they come in/out, they scramble the signals so I lose connection on both internet & phone. "Will NOT be returning to this "Resort" ever"
My husband and I live on Oak Island and decided to take our children for a little weekend get-a-way to celebrate Father's Day. We have 4 children, so everything is done on a budget :) I always book our trips on expedia and always read reviews... we've been everywhere and back , and chose where we lay our heads at night based 80% on reviews. The reviews […] for this "resort" were a little wishy washy, but we went in it with an open mind and hoped for the best. Ughhhh... the room (the deluxe at that) was VERY small, the "view" was a joke, it smelled stale (for lack of a better word), the sinks were on the outside of the bathroom, the carpet didn't look like it was vaccumed, and I was just in disbelief. It was a nasty room! We went to inspect the pools, and they were worse than the room. Sand, bugs, a diaper, etc. you name it and it was in the pools. We walked over to a neighboring pool area and it was packed! Moved on to yet another, less crowded, and decided to finally take a dip. The pool water actually turned my stomach. I got out the pool as fast as I got in. Went back to the room and hung the towel to dry off the balcony. Showered and we left the room. Returned and smelled out stuff from the trip to the pool. It smelled like PEE! It was just an unclean, nasty place. In no way are we high maintance, but I did expect a clean room and a clean pool. We got neither. I reccomend finding somewhere else to go!
