Overall, the hotel was nice. Our room was clean and nice. The only drawback was that our sofabed did not have a mattress so we could not use it. For the price of this hotel with ocean front it was worth every penny. A little dated but overall nice and it was clean, the lazy river is not heated so we couldn't use it. The outdoor pool was nice 95 degrees heated and the indoor and outdoor spas were fantastic. Our view was great of the ocean and the walk was not too far from the boardwalk about […] 45mins of a nice paced stroll, 3 mins by car, I prefer to be further away from the crowdedness so you can really enjoy the vacation, the bar tender downstairs at the lounge was nice and they had some decent drink specials. Didn't enjoy the beach much because it was freezing out so we stuck mostly to the pool, i think we would of really enjoyed what this hotel and area had to offer to the max if it was mid spring or late summer/early fall, just too cold in march. However for a scenic one night/day stay at a decent price on way to destination was worth it. Oh my... where to start- I've been going to Myrtle Beach for years and I know that there is a difference between the level of service you get "between seasons" and the winter months are slack when it comes to what's available. We chose this hotel because of the proximity to the attractions that we knew would be open. When we got there, the Desk Attendant […] was operating by himself, 6 people in line and a phone ringing off the hook in the background. The check in process was slow, but we weren't in a hurry. We quickly put our bags in the room and changed for go out for a dinner show. Nothing seemed out of place. After the show, we came back to the room to go for a swim... The Hotel boasted of Jacuzzi - which was cold as ice - and an indoor/outdoor lazy river - which was also cold as ice. The main pool was heated and we enjoyed it, but would have loved to use the jacuzzi. When we got back to the room, we realized that the pillows were small - so I tried to call down to have some additional pillows brought up. The phone was dead. So, I go downstairs and ask the Desk Manager for a couple, he said that Housekeeping had already left and he didn't have any at the front desk. I requested a key to a vacant room (the two rooms adjoining our room were vacant) so that I could borrow a couple for the night. "Sorry, I can't do that" was his response. I'll try to express my stay as politely as possible. The parking deck was very convenient-- which means I didn't have to park somewhere else and walk. I appreciate the breakfast that was served within the hotel--didn't have to go out for it. The oceanfront view was a plus. I couldn't have ask for a better view, however; the room was crappy and disappointing. […] It was not clean, from the candy and food on the floor from a prior guest to the disguising air vents in the bathroom. They were clogged with dust particles and hair. The smoke detector was a dingy white as if it was very old- couldn't been from smoke since I was in a non-smoking room. The mattresses were hard and the pillows were so soft that I have to sleep on three of them just to get the firmness I needed. I could hear the guest rooms noise through the walls at times. We moved from Sandcastle at the pavilon and it was a good move. The roon was nice, the staff was great. We went to the buffet for breakfast and that was the only bad point in this stay.
