Sun N Sand Resort

Well from the outside it looks nice, but the inside looks like a rundown motel. It's ridiculously rundown, the elevators were not only slow, but one day all of them were down and had wiring coming down from the roof. The maids were using dirty sheets, the comforter had blood stains on it, I couldn't find one piece of linen without a stain or marking […] on it, first hour in my room I found a disgusting funky tampon in the bathroom. The balcony, wow it was a small sese pool of mold, and broken glass. We had the partial ocean view, ruined. The AC was filthy, I turned it on and got covered in some black particles. Bathroom and showers were ok, but the towels were rough as sand paper and yet again stained.The front desk tried to help, the pool needs the be cleaned, yet the indoor pool was heated. Amazingly this weed is in a bundle of flowers. It's surrounded by attractions. Nevertheless, this is a 2 star hotel not a 3 star resort, don't be lured in by price. Read more

The view from our beachfront room was amazing! The best thing about this resort. The room was pretty nice and appeared clean upon arrival but in 3 days we were never visited by housekeeping. We asked a maid for towels which we were given, unfortunately the towels were rougher than the broken shells along the beach. The resort boasts a hot tub that we […] never managed to find and were told was being repaired anyway, along with an indoor pool that seemed more like a mud puddle with paint flaking off the walls and cracked outdated tile floors, the outdoor pool seemed pretty clean but we didn't want to risk it. They also advertise a tiki bar and restaurant which never opened the entire time we were there. The staff were friendly enough but not exactly professional. It would of been nice in a "resort" to have someone help with our luggage but we got pointed in the direction of luggage carts from the 80's and handed a room key. We were left to wander around the hotel trying to find our car parked on the first floor of the parking deck until another guest informed us the elevator from the hotel to the deck only went to the 2nd floor and up. Don't expect any frills like breakfast, room service, or anything else u would expect from a resort but if u just need a place to sleep and a great view this is your "resort". Read more

Apond arrival found out there where college kids in full at hotel rooms being remodeled people betting on doors up to 3am took shower water wouldn't turn off had to that fixed me and my husband ended up going to another hotel down road spending more money I will never us this hotel again

The price was good. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, and balcony with view of the ocean. It was a very nice room. The only frustration was the elevators. I was not impressed with this hotel. I found the girl at the front desk to be rude from the start. The hotel was renovating so only 2 out of 4 elevaters worked and with it being prom weekend teenagers were going from floor to floor so it took 15-20 minutes on average to go to and from the room (we were on the 14th floor so stairs were not an option). […] At one point we had left out to enjoy the day and when we came back our door was ajar because whoever cleaned our room did not close the door properly when they left, thank God everything was still there! Worst place to possibly stay. Not near anything. Mold in stair wells. Only one elevator works. Very dirty. Strange smells throughout the building. Restaurant and Bar never open. Maids were dirty. This was our second visit to get away. My husband and I came last year this time to the beach and stayed here at the sun and sand. It was nice before, and now has had a facelift and was even nicer! Very convenient to everything and right on the beach! We will be back again. Very comfortable and reasonable!

I thought sun n sands should have been more upfront about the fact they were under a major remodel. The only thing in the hotel that was 100% was the bar. We don't drink... this was not our best stay at Myrtle. We've stayed at other hotels while they were remodeling... except for signage, we never felt it. The price was reasonable, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The only complaints that I had were that they were renovating, and the free breakfast is limited (not the variety, but the fact of if you get it). The renovating was manageable, nothing that really inconvenienced my stay. However the breakfast upset me. We checked in on March 8th at […] 5pm (despite the check-in time being 4pm, our room wasn't ready) and checked out on the morning of the 11th. We were given breakfast vouchers for the 9th and 10th, but not on the 11th, because according to them, we were no longer "guests". That was very upsetting. The view from our room was beautiful, although I misunderstood "Ocean View". I didn't realize that meant we would be on the side of the building and would have view of the hotel next door as well as the beach. The staff, aside from the breakfast ordeal, were very friendly. The room was clean, no funny odors or anything. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping were more than willing to provide extra towels or toiletries upon request. The location is VERY convenient to everything in town, as well as the beach. Lots of entertainment, shopping, dining, etc. There is a bar/grill inside the hotel that stays open until 2am, and does serve alcoholic beverages and has a nice pool table. I felt comfortable coming and going at any time I wanted, unlike some hotels I have stayed at in the past. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, and hope to return again in the future. Read more

We had an awesome time here. The only thing that was disappointing was that the hotel was going through some renovations and the hot tub was closed for maintenance as this is their slow season. Overall, the room was awesome!! Will definitely come back here to stay again!

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, but this hotel exceeded my expectations on multiple levels. It was clean, the room was beautifully decorated and the view from our room was stunning. The staff was friendly and helpful. The stay was awful. Our first night the toilet did not work. We booked and paid for a king room, when our toilet would not work the hotel could not move us to another king room because they upgraded everyone there to rooms of our level. we had to stay in the room with the non-working toilet that night and had to wait around the next day to see if maitenance […] could get it fixed. it was a nice hotel, walkable distance from the beach, and the beach was quite , and calm , though the staff was a bit unco-operative and rude. I reached on 4pm, for my check-in. They made me stand in the line for almost 30 mins, just to say, ny room is not ready and will take another 30 mins or so. The hotel is obviously an older hotel going through renovations. However, the room was perfectly fine, roomy, flat screen tv, coffee maker, DVD player, fridge, and microwave. Access to the beach was great! And if you turn left going out of the hotel you can get to Kings Blvd very quickly and easily without having to go through Ocean Blvd and deal with all the traffic.
