Situated along a 720-foot stretch of Myrtle Beach, this family-friendly resort is 0.4 mile from Grand Strand, and 2.1 miles from Myrtle Beach State Park. The resort is popular with golfers drawn to the more than 90 golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
Hotel Features.
Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort features 22 water attractions, including indoor and outdoor pools, children's pools, lazy rivers, and spa tubs. The resort offers a summer program of supervised children's activities. Sunning lawns are dotted with lounge chairs and wooden stairs provide direct beach access. Cabanas and lounge chairs can be rented on the beach. A fitness center is on site. The resort's golf department arranges tee times at all of the Myrtle Beach area's golf courses.
The Compass Rose restaurant serves breakfast, and the Crow's Nest serves lunch and dinner in its dining room and outdoor deck overlooking the beach. A seasonal poolside bar serves cocktails.
Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in both the Pinnacle and Schooner Buildings. A kiosk offers high-speed Internet access (surcharge). Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in hot spots throughout the resort. An airport shuttle is available 24-hours a day.

Compass Cove offers 531 nonsmoking guestrooms, suites, and condos located in 3 buildings. The 4- and 5-story Schooner Building, has exterior corridors. Suites are located in the 16-story Pinnacle Building and condos are available in the 15-story Mariner Building. Accommodations offer private, furnished balconies, or patios with full or partial views of the Atlantic Ocean. Other amenities include cable TV, microwaves or stoves, and coffeemakers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. 2- and 3-bedroom units are equipped with washers and dryers, and full kitchens. Some units include a refrigerator.

Crow's Nest - Casual restaurant and bar on second floor of Pinnacle Building. Lunch/dinner menu includes sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza, and tropical drinks. Ocean-view dining room and open-air deck. Overstuffed leather chairs surround large-screen TV. Open daily from late morning until late evening.
Tiki Hut - Beachfront bar and snack bar serving hamburgers, hot dogs, tropical drinks, beer, and wine. Located on the pool deck on the ocean side of the Schooner building. Open from late morning to early evening daily during the summer and on weekends in the spring and fall.
This Myrtle Beach resort features 22 water attractions. An outdoor pool complex extending along the resort's beachfront adjacent to the Schooner Building includes sundecks furnished with lounge chairs and umbrella tables, two shuffleboard courts, palm trees, and hedges bordering and interspersing the pools. The complex comprises a 200-foot lazy river with tubes; two pools, one measuring 50 by 20 feet and the other 40 by 15 feet; and a children's pool.
On the street side of the Schooner Building, a solarium contains a 60-by-20-foot indoor pool, two four-person spa tubs; a children's pool with mushroom-shaped shower; and a 200-foot lazy river with tubes.
At the Pinnacle Building are two outdoor pools, one measuring 40 by 8 feet and the other 50 by 8 feet; a 15-foot-long outdoor children's pool with a mushroom-shaped shower; an eight-person outdoor spa tub; and a 10-person outdoor spa tub. Indoors is a 50-by-15-foot pool, a toddlers' pool, an eight-person spa tub, and a 12-person spa tub. Behind a glass front that's removed in summer are an indoor/outdoor 220-foot lazy river curling around a six-person spa tub and a children's pool with mushroom-shaped shower.
Arrayed along 720 feet of beach frontage, the resort includes sunning lawns furnished with lounge chairs and provides direct beach access over wooden stairs that protect fragile beach grasses. Cabanas and chairs can be rented on the beach. A water sports center a half-mile south of the resort offers a wide variety of rental equipment, including personal watercraft and windsurfers, and books parasailing flights and banana boat rides.
The resort's golf department arranges tee times at all of the Myrtle Beach area's 120 golf courses.

"Not too bad for the money"

"in the heart of the beach"
Initially shocked at the dirty condition of the room, all was corrected after we complained to the front desk. Microwave did not work properly. Most everyone on staff were responsive to our issues. Bring your own COFFEE and other groceries as you have a kitchenette I think in all rooms. This hotel is good for families....great pools, beach and views from the rooms. We didn't have very hot water at all but the views and convenience made up for all. Was very upset that we were not notified that there was construction going on at the hotel. The parking garage was a complete disaster and most of the construction was going on in there. They only had 2 elevators in operation one at one end of the hotel and one at the other Being on the 15th floor didn't really bode well with taking the stairs and had […] to wait sometimes in excess of 10 mins for the elevator to reach our floor. The security of the hotel was lacking, as there were construction workers walking around the halls of the hotels and in the parking deck even late into the evening. We couldn't find a cart to load our luggage on anywhere in the hotel, but upon leaving we found 5 or 6 in the parking garage hidden around in a back corner. "Unsat dining room for familes"
The evening place of eating was at the Crows Nest which was a bar. The noise and loudness coming from this room was heard up to 4 rooms away. I was very displeased with this arrangement. "Not Great But Not Horrible."
Everything was fine except the dirty pillows. That made me question the cleanliness of everything else. The pillows had yellow stains and was riddle with random hairs of many textures.... We went in the off season. We visited during late September. The hotel wasn't very full. We were able to spend alot of time in the hot tubs and pools by ourselfs. The hotel offers lots of small hot tubs and pools. It also had two lazy rivers. The rooms were large and had a nice fold out bed in the front room for our son giving him privacy. The hotel has a definite problem with the parking situation. To have to park across Ocean Blvd, which is a busy road, in a lot with no elevator, is a real problem for older people with mobility issues. Hotel was at a great location and room, although dated, was comfortable and clean. However there is no relaxation for couples in the pools or hot tubs. "Best thing about it is being on the beach"
We stayed in the Pinnacle building, which we were told was the newest. The room and hallways had an old, worn feeling to them, but the room was pretty clean. The pool area was kept decently clean also. It is right on the beach, which was wonderful, and there were lots of pools for kids to play in, which was also nice. The parking was terrible - there […] were never any spaces open in the main building. There was a second building across the street, but space was scarce there also, and the stairwells smelled of urine. The towel bar fell off the wall on our second day, and instead of being repaired, we found it laying on the sink when we returned to the room. We got fewer towels that day I guess because there wasn't anywhere to hang them. One of the elevators malfunctioned while we were in it - we were on the second floor, and the elevator would not go up or down or open the door. We finally got the door to open, and did not get back on that elevator. To my knowledge, that elevator was not worked on while we were there. "A little dated but great customer service"
First, let me truly praise the customer service skills of James and Mike at the front desk and Antwan, our shuttle service driver and also the housekeeping staff. The room had such a bad odor from the humidity that I had to personally go to the front desk to complain. They sent 2 housekeepers up, and they deodorize the room really well. "Could use updating..."
The hotel seemed a little run down and old. It was clean I guess, but still old. Our room had a bonus Murphy bed which worked out well for our family, the kids slept in the bedroom (with 2 double beds) and their own tv and we were able to shut the door and have our own tv in the living room with the Murphy Bed. Queen size beds would've been nice. It […] was a tight squeeze for hubby and I. There was a series lack of restaurants and bars for 3 buildings full of people. there was the restaurant where they served breakfast (buffet), I believe they also served lunch and dinner but we never went there for that. Then there was the bar/restarant that was open for lunch and dinner and I think had Karoake later in the evening. That had an outside patio that was ocean front. They served beer/cocktails and bar food. The food was pretty good for lunch or an afternoon snack. Then there was the "Tiki Bar" that was also a snack bar. But that was only open for a few hours everyday. It made it very difficult to get a drink while hanging out at the pool or on the beach. The "6 pools" were there but very very small! None of them were very large, which means they were always really full and sitting around them was very limited. If you wanted a seat on the beach you either had to bring your own or pay $30/per day for 2 chairs and an umbrella. We chose to sit on our towels. "Nice Hotel but chaotic and unorganized!"
Overall our stay was great. The hotel had a lot of great amenities and was in a great location. However during our stay the fire/evacuation alarm went off unnecessarily in the very early morning hours and our key cards stopped working at least 3 to 4 different times. Though two of those times someone was nearby and readily available to assist it was […] stressful due to the location of the office being so far away and having 3 kids impatiently waiting to get in our room. Another issue was that towels were never brought to our room. We had to go request clean towels at least twice during our stay. "Nice hotel, but there were roaches in our room!"
My family and I stayed at the Compass Cove-Schooner Building. It is a very nice hotel with water pools galore! The room was nice and very clean, however we did kill two roaches the first night. We also noticed waterbugs outside while walking to and from our rooms. I placed a call downstairs and asked them if they could have someone spray our room. […] I dont know if they ever came because we didnt see a note or anything that they had sprayed. The next night we killed another one that was in the bathroom. We KNOW the roaches came from the hotel because my family and I DO NOT have roaches. It appears that we werent the only people that had roaches because our friends that were staying in the Mariner building had roaches too! "Disappointed"
Personally I would have to say that overall our stay was okay. The front desk staff on the day shift were just dreadful. The night auditors and the evening staff were nice. The staff at The Crow's Nest were awesome. Housekeeping was very inconsistent One day the room was great, the next no extra toilet paper, no dish soap? "Not bad for a weekend"
Not a bad place to stay on the cheap. The hotel is pretty dated like most in the area. Our hot water worked on the sink very well but was only warm in the shower; I didn't complain because it wasn't a real nuisance. The facilites are ok, they have a lot of pools and hot tubs, both indoor and out, free breakfast, and a decent bar/lounge. For a weekend […] getaway it was good for the price, I don't think I'd spend a week there though. I'd rather up the price and get a more modern hotel. I did like the location though, it is farther away from all the shops and people on Ocean blvd, meaning there's a lot less traffic. If you go to Myrtle, definitely check out Broadway on the beach.
