Situated along a 720-foot stretch of Myrtle Beach, this family-friendly resort is 0.4 mile from Grand Strand, and 2.1 miles from Myrtle Beach State Park. The resort is popular with golfers drawn to the more than 90 golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
Hotel Features.
Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort features 22 water attractions, including indoor and outdoor pools, children's pools, lazy rivers, and spa tubs. The resort offers a summer program of supervised children's activities. Sunning lawns are dotted with lounge chairs and wooden stairs provide direct beach access. Cabanas and lounge chairs can be rented on the beach. A fitness center is on site. The resort's golf department arranges tee times at all of the Myrtle Beach area's golf courses.
The Compass Rose restaurant serves breakfast, and the Crow's Nest serves lunch and dinner in its dining room and outdoor deck overlooking the beach. A seasonal poolside bar serves cocktails.
Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in both the Pinnacle and Schooner Buildings. A kiosk offers high-speed Internet access (surcharge). Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in hot spots throughout the resort. An airport shuttle is available 24-hours a day.

Compass Cove offers 531 nonsmoking guestrooms, suites, and condos located in 3 buildings. The 4- and 5-story Schooner Building, has exterior corridors. Suites are located in the 16-story Pinnacle Building and condos are available in the 15-story Mariner Building. Accommodations offer private, furnished balconies, or patios with full or partial views of the Atlantic Ocean. Other amenities include cable TV, microwaves or stoves, and coffeemakers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. 2- and 3-bedroom units are equipped with washers and dryers, and full kitchens. Some units include a refrigerator.

Compass Rose - Buffet and à la carte breakfast featuring southern specialties.
Crow's Nest - Casual restaurant and bar on second floor of Pinnacle Building. Lunch/dinner menu includes sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza, and tropical drinks. Ocean-view dining room and open-air deck. Overstuffed leather chairs surround large-screen TV. Open daily from late morning until late evening.
Tiki Hut - Beachfront bar and snack bar serving hamburgers, hot dogs, tropical drinks, beer, and wine. Located on the pool deck on the ocean side of the Schooner building. Open from late morning to early evening daily during the summer and on weekends in the spring and fall.
This Myrtle Beach resort features 22 water attractions. An outdoor pool complex extending along the resort's beachfront adjacent to the Schooner Building includes sundecks furnished with lounge chairs and umbrella tables, two shuffleboard courts, palm trees, and hedges bordering and interspersing the pools. The complex comprises a 200-foot lazy river with tubes; two pools, one measuring 50 by 20 feet and the other 40 by 15 feet; and a children's pool.
On the street side of the Schooner Building, a solarium contains a 60-by-20-foot indoor pool, two four-person spa tubs; a children's pool with mushroom-shaped shower; and a 200-foot lazy river with tubes.
At the Pinnacle Building are two outdoor pools, one measuring 40 by 8 feet and the other 50 by 8 feet; a 15-foot-long outdoor children's pool with a mushroom-shaped shower; an eight-person outdoor spa tub; and a 10-person outdoor spa tub. Indoors is a 50-by-15-foot pool, a toddlers' pool, an eight-person spa tub, and a 12-person spa tub. Behind a glass front that's removed in summer are an indoor/outdoor 220-foot lazy river curling around a six-person spa tub and a children's pool with mushroom-shaped shower.
Arrayed along 720 feet of beach frontage, the resort includes sunning lawns furnished with lounge chairs and provides direct beach access over wooden stairs that protect fragile beach grasses. Cabanas and chairs can be rented on the beach. A water sports center a half-mile south of the resort offers a wide variety of rental equipment, including personal watercraft and windsurfers, and books parasailing flights and banana boat rides.
The resort's golf department arranges tee times at all of the Myrtle Beach area's 120 golf courses.

Overall poor visit here( 3 nights ) Check took way to long ( understaffed) room was very dated and jaded looking , felt like it was last touched up in the seventies. The above reservation was booked through Hotels.com and for was an Oceanfront Room with 2 Queen Beds. The clerk at Compass Cove deliverately placed us in Room 112 which had a dead fish odor and across from the Snack Shack which obstructed the view of the ocean. Also, there was a lot of noise with people visiting the Snack Shack, sitting around that […] area, drinking and laughing. After the second request for a different room assignment, we were given a room on the third floor – with a side view of the ocean (not ocean front) – with one queen bed (not 2 queen beds) as shown on the confirmation – which was a less expensive room than the one we paid for. When we visited the pool area on Wednesday, we discovered that on Sunday, Compass Cove had to move someone out of Room 112 because of the dead fish smell. We also found that Room 114 has that same horrible smell. We stayed at Compass Cover last year and we were very satisfied, which is the reason we chose Compass Cove again. "Major security breach"
I stayed in this condo/hotel for a week with my family for a vacation. Much to our shock, in the middle of the week the front desk staff issued keys to our room to total strangers!!!!!! They apparently were checking in and had the same last name, so the staff gave them keys to our room. We DID NOT know them. Fortunately, so we were in the room in the […] time and were aware of the SECURITY BREACH. We notified the manager immediately about this SEVERE BREACH of SECURITY and she issued new room keys, however, this should never have happened. The front desk staff should have verify first and last names, and identities of guests before issuing keys. Unless these four ladies happened to have the same first name as my husband, the only name the front desk had, they should not have been given keys. The kitchen was very poorly equipped and had no small utensils, such as a can opener or grater and did not have enough dishes for a family of 5 to use for more than one meal. I had to wash the dishes every time we ate. The beds and pillows were rock hard and we woke up with stiff backs and necks most mornings. The bathroom counters were tiny for a unit that could sleep up to 10 people. Only electronics provided was a tv, no DVR/DVD player. Pool water was nasty. The elevators in this hotel need attention, we were on the 15th floor and every time we got on one after waiting 15 minutes it would go down then stop and start back up. "avoid at any cost"
No hot water in the room. I called front desk, they sent someone upstairs to "turn machinery on". This procedure - call and wait 5 minutes for hot water - had to be repeated a few times next day. Room was noisy, located in front of elevator, stairwell and garage, which are accessed via an outdoor hallway. I could not comfortably walk around in my room with the room darkening curtains open, since there was no sheer curtain at the window. When I opened the curtain, people coming from the beach and sitting in the pool area could look into my room. […] Also, the room was in front of the grills that are in the pool picnic area. So, charcoal fumes flooded my room throughout the day. I could not close the balcony door because the air conditoner did not work. Bathroom was tiny and filthy with black soap scum on the tub\shower knob. Crowded front bedroom was a LR converted to BR with no closet, tv, clock, telephone, etc. Air conditioner was right beside the bed, too cold when turned on because it was too close to the bed. Bathroom and kitchen towels were dingy. The room smelled musty. Bed linen was a dingy brown and sheets were dingy. This suite was obviously converted to resemble a two BR suite. But it is actually a one BR suite. The stove, refrigerator and sink are crowded into a small area in front of the bathroom vanity. There is no countertop to use for cooking. Food stains on sides of the refrigerator and stove. Kitchen area is only big enough to place a small refrigerator and a microwave. Kitchen is actually partially in the bedroom and the bathroom if you can imagine that. There was no door separating kitchen from oceanfront BR. I will never stay there again.
