"Great oceanfront hotel but with dated amenties"
Great friendly front desk staff. However, upon opening the door to our room I found the beds to be very uncomfortable in fact my bed had an indention in the mattress so the first night kept rolling into that hole. Second night slept on the sofa which was also uncomfortable. For the price of what we paid per night I guess it was parallet to the quality […] of the room. "Disappointed"
Since my last stay was at another lower rated hotel down the road, my expectations were high bases on the high ratings. First off the rooms were a bit wore, time for some fresh paint and beds. Arrived back after a late supper and noticed a significant sound of music, called the front desk and the clerk informed me it was probably a local pub. "Never again...."
Location of hotel was awesome. Room was pretty nice when we first walked in. Later on that night we laid down to go to bed. My husband laid down first and i moved the covers there was a brown spot under my side of the sheet. Lifted the sheet up and there blood stains on the mattress cover. Went to talk to management. They had cleaning guy come with […] new sheets. As he was removing the mattress pad cover there were huge pee stains all over the mattress. We check our second bed and it was also like this. Told management i didn't pay to be sleeping in someone's pee. They moved us to another room which was way cleaner but the bed was very uncomfortable and squeaked everytime you moved. "Nice hotel that needs alot of cleaning."
Pros - Our room was a 2 bedroom condo. We had a flat screen tv in both of the bedrooms and the living room. This was a good size condo for a family, The beach was wonderful and the staff was great. The bathrooms were in very good shape. This condo did have a dishwasher and washer and dryer. Cons - The carpet, which appeared to be clean, was so dirty […] that the soles of your feet were black after walking across it. The living rm. chairs and couch need to be replaced. They were dirty and ripped. One of the dining room chairs had a cushion that was being held on by one screw. The kitchen utensils were limited. We had one teaspoon and several smaller spoons that you would normally feed a baby with. The blankets in our room need to be replaced. They had holes in them. The refrigerator as well as other areas in the condo had rust on it. We had a chair on our balcony that was broken. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of everything so it is perfect! The condo 2 bedroom ocean front we stayed in was dirty, and the beds were very uncomfortable. They need to update the mattresses and bed frames! The couches were very dirty and we had to put bed sheets over them to sit on them. The elevators on the hotel did not work very […] well. "Bad experience that cost more then expected"
The location is great but the rooms are old and dirty ,had a dirty towels in the rooms daily. The hotel is beautiful from the exterior, but as soon as you walk into the lobby you know it is going down hill. The floor was dirty and the small lobby was very unkept. My wife had always wanted to stay there since from the outside the appearance is very nice. When we got in our room the lock on the door was broken, the dishes in the cabinet were dirty and the overall appearance is old and outdated. There was a used condom tied to my bedside lamp. Trash from previous guests were also found throughout the room. Towards the end of our stay about 50 college kids checked in. "Camelot - Very Disappointed"
This was our first family vacation to Myrtle Beach so we were very excited to be getting away before the summer rush. When we arrived at The Camelot around 8pm the lady at the front desk was nice and checked us in quickly. We got to our room, unpacked the car and our 2 young kids to find a room that was beyond awful. It reeked of smoke (although a non-smoking […] room), the sofa was ripped and had cigarette burns on it, the chairs were dirty, and the carpet was stained and disgusting. Even though the next morning we were moved to a much cleaner room, I can’t believe they would even have rooms that are so filthy. "Not exactly what I expected from 'Camelot'"
The staff was friendly and helpful, those are the best things I can say for this hotel. Although I believe that at one point in time it was probably a lovely hotel, it has been let go (at least our room). Upon arriving I noticed that the rug runner on the wall and part of the tile were were missing in the dining area. It looked like someone had patched […] a hole but never finished the repair, and the rug was stapled to the wall! I did not complain about this until after I found what I am quite sure was FECEES in the bedroom where my children were sleeping. My 7 year old pointed out something on the carpet which I took a wet towel to clean up. As soon as I began wiping it up...well the smell was terrible! I called the front desk to report it and the man at the desk said "Well we don't allow animals on the property, but I guess someone might have snuck one in!" I honestly do not know or CARE what it came from...but WHY was it not cleaned up? The man at the front desk asked me if I wanted housekeeping to come clean it up...I told him that I had already done so. Why send them to clean it up when they obviously did not clean it very well in the first place? No pool towels at the front desk, broken Ice Machine, Noisy drunken neighbors late at night , dirty pools, limited varity of resturants in walking distance. Did not like the 4pm ck in time but waited until 5 and when got to our room there had been water damage and there was a huge fan set up blowing it dry. "Customer Service Nightmare"
We travel about 3 times a year and we have NEVER complained about any hotel we have stayed at. This hotel had the worst customer service possible. After 3 days of checking in; we finally call down and ask why our rooms have never been cleaned or towels refreshed. I kept washing our own towels and washrags. They told us that we requested no housekeeping […] which was completely false. We had never made that request. We called down and requested bath towels; it took 5 hours and they finally brought us up 5 HANDTOWELS! We used those to shower and dry off with. We asked our housekeeping person next day for towels and she said she didnt have any. Our toilet was broke and would not flush, no remote controls for tv's would work; kept calling down but took forever to get resolved!! Pulled out our sofa for kids to sleep on and the sheets were completely filthy with dried blood on them and sand all over them...they had never been washed from previous renters!
