"Evicted for wanting a working toilet"
The second night of our stay the toilet stopped up. I called the desk to report it. I was told to come to the front desk to get a plunger. Then when the toilet overflowed I was told to come down to get a mop. When I asked about having somebody fix the toilet or getting a different room, I was told I would have to use the toilet in the lobby. This is a VERY old hotel. no AC in the hallways so it was humid and stuffy, even in the winter. We needed 2 beds but they only had room with 1 bed and a sofa bed. The first room we checked in was located next to the laundry room. The noise from the washer sounded as if it was going to come through the wall, so didn't get much sleep. I called front desk to have us moved and waited until I couldn't take it anymore and had to go to the front desk to make them give meanotjer room. The rooms smell like stale smoke […] and moldy. We were very disappointed in this hotel. There is no upkeep. The molding is coming off the cabinets in the bathroom. Mold in the tub between the grooves. My father owned a Best Western Hotel on the shoreline in Corpus Christi and he had to keep his hotel up to Best Western specs. Air Condition would not work right, could not get the fan to blow at all, however room was tolerable. You can tell this is an older hotel and there is some cosmetic work that needs to be done. We were a family staying for our vacation for two nights and three days. The room was ok and had everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was a nice idea, but nothing spectacular. What really disappointed us was the upkeep of the place. We wouldn't step foot in the pool area, disgusting. The patio areas were not cleaned the three days we were there. […] Cig butts and chicken bones laying there the whole time. They had plastic lawn furniture and tables, all busted. The grounds and landscaping was unkept and ugly. We couldn't use these areas because of filthy conditions. Looks like this place may have been nice at one time, but I have seen better maintenance in cheap motels. The hotel staff are friendly, and the hotel is conveniently close to the ferry, but it could use some work. Our couch had a huge slit on the side (my cell phone fell into it of course) the lamp looked like it had fallen off the table and the TV had damage in the corner where everything in that corner was green.
