The street in front of the hotel was under construction. We passed the entrance. The hotel is no where near Mallory Square or Duval Street. The pictures on the website do not look anything like the hotel. I was not satisfied the least bit and would not recommend to anyone.

I am sorry to say I would not recommend your motel. The room had a damp wet smell, wallpaper was was coming off the bathroom walls and the TV was broken. Do NOT stay at this hotel if you have an ounce of modesty. Apparently this hotel was clothing optional in the past and some of the guests have not received the revised memo regarding attire. I travel internationally so I am used to our female European friends going topless at the beach, but topless and in thongs at the pool were new for me. At least […] those women showed more decorum than the "lady" who stripped nude and jumped in the pool. Now before frat guys start lining up to stay here... that lady was 52 years old and earlier that day, a man in his 50's sunbathed and swam in the pool buck naked. Strangely, the front desk was surprised to hear this takes place, but the Czech girl at reception doesn't seem to know much of anything #e.g. places to eat nearby, activities#. Rumor has it this is a swinger's resort and it's very gay friendly, as is most of Key West. They also allow the public to visit the pool, according to a convicted criminal #we later found his mugshot online#, who tried to con our friend. To put it simply, I was creeped out and disgusted with everything Banana Bay had to offer. The room showed obvious signs of filth and past destruction. The mosquito netting that "romantically" adorned the canopy bed was yellow and brown with age and dust and god knows what else. We were told we could check in early (put stuff in room, change, hang out by pool), but they would need a couple hours to finish cleaning room -supposedly one of best rooms/view of pool and beach. We gave them 5 hours to finish and then went to room - IT HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED AND THE PREVIOUS GUEST'S TRASH WAS EVERYWHERE IN THE ROOM. We went to office […] - cleaning staff was gone so we had to move our stuff to the only room left - view of the parking lot (I guess they call this the "garden view"). Next day moved back to original room - at least it had a great view.....BUT, the wallpaper in the bathrooms were peeled around shower, the toilet ran CONSTANTLY, no matress pad & sheets were too small to really fit matress (constantly came off corners). This is not to mention the blankets used had chunks of material taken out of them - this is as low life as it gets!!!! They would come & clean rooms daily, BUT.....the bags of dirty laundry laid on cement walkway outside our room for 2 days at a time. The pool was never cleaned the entire 5 days we were there - always full of leaves. The Tiki Bar was never open - we went to the Best Western Key Ambassador Resort (other side of island - where we stayed last year) to enjoy a FABULOUS DAY by the heated, CLEAN pool and enjoyed a fabulous lunch/drinks from the Tiki Bar. Das Hotel ist wirklich toll. Super schöne Anlage mit Pool, Jacuzzi, bequeme Sitzmöglichkeiten im Pavillion und direkter Lage am Ufer.
