I booked this hotel based on price and number of good reviews. I have to say that almost all reviews were very accurate, especially concerning the manager Roman. He was one of the nicest, most helpful hotel managers I have ever dealt with. His attentiveness and friednly attitude made up for any shortcomings the hotel may have. The surrounding neighboorhood […] is nice/quiet and close to Duval St and other attractions. My only suggestion to the hotel would be that my room did have some maintenance issues like paint/drywall repairs needed, but the room was very clean and comfortable. Friendly atmosphere. Roman was very helpful/knowledgeable. The only negative thought concerning the room was that ti only had one chair. Since there was two of us, somebody had to sit on the bed. Of course, you really don't spend too much time in the room in Key West.

This was a bed and breakfast. The room was clean but the furniture was very old and unkept. It had a very old and dirty loveseat partially covered by a bed spread that had seen better times. Heron House is an older home redone into a B&B in the Old Town of Key West! Perfect location within 15 min walking to everywhere. This was our first experience with a B&B and we were very pleasantly surprised! You will get a personal sense of service as you will be known by name and face to the staff. Roman, the man who worked the desk while we stayed, was very kind and booked all of our excursions. We told him where and when we wanted to go and he took care of the rest-right […] down to looking up the weather conditions (for both the heat to know how hot it would be on the water and the wind to predict how rocky the boats would be). As he has a personal relationship with many of the excursion vendors, he was also able to get us student discounts and able to easily cancel a trip at last minute due to me feeling ill. Some notes: BREAKFAST: cereal, bagels, English muffins, toast, coffee, OJ and milk THE ROOM: well cooled by a window unit and kept tidy; the tv is an older, small box-type but has cable; no bathtub but there is a clean shower; bed was comfortable and clean but the comforter was not in its best condition due to some of the embroidery coming undone CLEANLINESS: we felt comfortable with everything but a couple of our towels had what looked like make-up stains and needed to be thrown out. SPECIAL OCCASIONS: although we were greatly taken care of, no special touches were added bc it was our honeymoon so if you want them, plan them yourselves OVERALL: GREAT SERVICE, cozy stay, PERFECT location, needs some upgrades (the pool for example) but the PROS outweigh the cons by a landside! This is a nice B&B and a good value, but have realistic expectations. The manager was nice and helped me get a good deal on a scooter rental. My room was small and somewhat worn down, but always very clean. I asked to change rooms due to noise concerns, but because the hotel is small, I was not allowed to change my room. My airconditioner stopped working […] one night, and since the staff leaves after 6 pm, I had to call the emergency number, which was a voice-mail. For some reason, the voice-mail function would not work, so I was out of luck. Fortunately, I finally figured out what was wrong and fixed it myself. The breakfast is limited as is the parking. My room had a small refridgerator which came in very handy. The TV was maybe a 13-inch analogue, so not worth watching. For me, this was an ideal location because it was accessible to the charter boats and dive shops. Read more

The pool is always open so after a long night walking Duval, a cool dip in the pool at midnight was relaxing. You can't do that at a Holiday Inn. The room also has a small fridge in it so we could enjoy a cold beer at the pool. Mopeds or bicycles are the way to get around this town. We figured it out after one day of paying cabs. We have stayed in Key West B&B's several times over the years - always like to try new areas of the island and the local stays. This was truly a disappointment. The whole place needs a makeover. Our room was clean, but in need of some TLC. The bed was hard, the pillows foam and very uncomfortable - maybe some nice feather pillows would have made a difference! […] The bathroom sink was just outside the bathroom and the air condition unit was literally right there blowing cold air while you brushed your teeth - had to turn the unit off to use the sink. Although I must say, we did appreicate the working unit in July! The pool is unkept and too hot to swim in - not refreshing at all and not worth the trouble of even visiting. Too bad as this is one of the things we enjoy most is hanging out by the pool in the afternoon. The staff was nice and accommodating, no complains there. Breakfast is really sad - all store bought bagels, breads and cereals - how about some fresh fruit, some locally baked pastries and crossiants - there is a very nice bakery that bakes all that FRESH within one block! Duval is about an 8-9 block walk - both ways! There are much nicer B&B's closer for about the same price. Keep looking! Unfortunately, we would not stay at the Heron House Court again. Read more

Rooms were clean and well kept. My wife and I were given the room directly across the jacuzzi and got an upgrade to a King sized bed because couple of people cancelled their reservations. The Heron House court is about 10 minute walk to the downtown area and very quite in a safe neighborhood. The room was not entirely painted - the ceiling had been repainted perhaps 2/3 of the way. The door to the bath had been painted in part with a shade different than the current one as well as the door facing. The bed frame was not fully assembled - the headboard was not bolted to the bed and slammed against the wall each time I sat or laid on the bed. […] The bathroom appeared in better condition with new pedstal sink, toilet, tile; however, the plug would not support more than one appliance at a time. The shower curtin had been splashed with bleach and was a peculiar multi-color of peach and white. I only had truly hot water one day of four. There was some kind of black under the toilet lid. I suspect mold since the appliance was too new for corrosion. The pictures were far from "local art" as advertised as they were mass market posters and they weren't even clean. Some had mildew under the glass. There were holes in the sheetrock in both the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were chopped up foam rubber. The pool was not swimmable the entire four 1/2 days. In short, the room was awful. It appeared as if the room was im the midst of an entire makeover (much needed) and in a hurry they assembled it for a last minute guest. If this were the case, I am particulary angry since I made my reservation in February for a May visit. Key West has a plentitude of wonderful lodging - KEEP LOOKING!
