"Great for a weekend"
First impression, nicely landscaped, clean. Pool nice, but not enough lounge chairs for people. First night we checked in (my wife and I), they gave us room 479., a handicapped room near all the a/c units rumbling on the other side of the wall where the bed is located. Rumbled through our heads enough to give you a headache and no sleep. We called the […] front desk that evening, they said to call back in the morning to switch rooms, in which we did and gave us a different room and a free breakfast for the inconvenience. The 2nd room was much quieter and we were much happier. If you stay here beware of room 479. Otherwise have a great time, they have a free shuttle to Deval St, where all the action is, this hotel charges 11 bucks a day to park your car there. Which we have never had to do before. Good place for a couple days, near Smather's Beach. Probably would stay there again., we had stayed at the Hyatt Pointe 2 years ago which we found quite a bit nicer. "Best Family Hotel on Key West"
Our family of five stayed in two rooms for New Years 2013. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of a Doubletree. First of all, the front desk gives away warm cookies at check-in! We had trouble finding a bellhop at the door and ended up carrying our luggage up the steps and onto a cart by ourselves. While not elegant or recently updated, the […] rooms were comfortable in a casual way and clean. They provide a free shuttle to both ends of Duval Street, which is only 5 minutes away. The front desk neglected to tell us that the locations and times of pick up would be changed due to the holiday, but they sent us a complimentary taxi when we missed it by two minutes after sprinting across the island. Actually, running for the bus turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The food was much better than expected and pool is very nice and well-maintained. The property is also close to the most active beach on the island. This is perhaps the best property for families who are looking for activities other than partying on Duval. The Hotel is beautiful, Staff was amazing, especially Mike at the Pool & Billy 'the Greek' at the Tiki Bar. Shuttles were great & drivers were helpfull and friendly. Plenty of towels, shower needs, great coffee/tea in the room. I have long thick hair and the hairdryers in the room were way better than average. Plenty of space for hubby & I to put clothes […] etc away. Nice room to use pc's and check email or print a reservation. Front desk was really great. The breakfast buffet is awesome & I suggest you purchase the Bed & Breakfast package to get the best deal. The room safe was really nice to have & made us feel secure. We saw people of all ages at our hotel, & at the pool...babies, toddlers, newlyweds, and seniors & everyone blended. Plus everyday we had live steel drum music poolside. The hot tub was also nice! We also had plenty of space to utilize in our room fridge. It was no problem being on the oter end of the island because the shuttles had us where ever we needed to go & back. "Bike Week Stay"
Everything was fine. I only have one suggestion for your undercover bike parking area. You have cement curbs at the entrance of each parking area. We own a trike and several others do too. Because of the curbs there were only 2 openings without the curb that the trike could fit in. One was always full with a vehicle or bikes. The other was near the […] side of the door to hotel and there were bags of cement or salt piled in half the space and there were hotel buses and golf cart blocking the opening. We had to ask one bus driver to move one evening so we could park our bike. Other night we parked it in a regular open spot near the area. Overall the Double tree was a solid value. The hotel is very busy and they mean the check in time is 3:00PM so an early check in is unlikely. The shuttle service between the hotel and down town is reliable and a nice feature but the service is heavily used so you may have to wait for a second bus or van to be dispatched. The hotel was very nice, staff courteous. My only complaint would be with the complimentary shuttle. The driver has no way to determine how many guests were waiting each hour, and there was no organized line waiting at the sto when he would arrive. The guests would push and shove their way on regardless of how late the would show up to the pick up point […] or how small the children accompanying the adults.
