Fairfield Inn and Suites Key West

I don't usually rate hotels ...but the Fairfield Inn was absolutely one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Our room was very clean. The staff was extremely pleasant. The location was perfect for us, it was a 20-30 minute walk to Duval Street or a 5 minute cab ride. When we go back to Key west the Fairfield Inn is our top choice to stay.

The Fairfield Inn is away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street, but not too far away. The rooms are small for a family of four to share. They are ample for one or two people. Access to rooms is from the outside balconies. For my elderly mother, it was a long walk from the elevator and the hotel did not get my Expedia request for a handicap access room for my mother. That was probably Expedia's fault and not the hotel's. My biggest complaint, […] though, is that they close the tiki bar by the pool at 8:00 with the excuse that everybody goes to Duval Street to drink at night. Well, parents with children, retirees, and many of us in the middle are not partiers, but would enjoy a drink or two by the lovely pool in the evening. Hotel was good. Unfortunately, it was extremely pricey because it was the New Years Eve holiday. Getting downtown was about 2 miles, and the trolley is worthless, the bus hard to find (no bus-stops nearby) and no one wants to drive. That left Taxis. No problem sharing one from hotel to downtown after a wait, but trying to get back after midnight was […] a nightmare and almost had to walk. I went down with my boyfriend and a couple of his friends to celebrate his birthday for the weekend. The staff was extrememly friendly and helpful- especially the bar tender and the guy from South Africa working breakfast in the morning (he always had a smile on his face). Overall, what I expected. Check in was a breezed and the room was clean when we arrived. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating with all of our requests during the stay. The hotel was far above my expectations. Walking into the office area we were given a cooling drink before checking in. Parking was free and plentyful and we were able to park in a covered spot. Everyone was extremely friendly the minute you arrive. The rooms are small but very clean. The trolly picks you up from the hotel and takes you to the tourist attractions. It's a quiet area if that's what you are looking for. I would definitely stay here again.

The pool area is really awesome! Staff extremely friendly and courteous; answered all of our questions and even had free treats for the kids. The pool area was spectacular...more than we expected. Well I went to the Farifield Inn (Key West) for a weekend getaway. The hotel is exactly what I expected as in space and conviences. The room we were was an average economy room with no thrills. It was a single king but was very clean and quite comfortable for just sleeping purposes. The room came with a small refrigerator and microwave as well as a […] hair dryer and iron. The pool area was super nice and the adjoining tiki bar made for a very enjoyable pool environment. All the hotel staff and personell were very friendly and helpful upon asking them for anything. As to location you are about 1.5 miles to Duval Street. An average cab fair to any where around the island from the hotel was around $10-$12. Or you could bring your bicycles and pedal around for free. You are with in 5-7 minnutes walking to a kmart and publix(groceries) and some small restaurants. Over all the hotel was a very nice stay for what we used it for as a home base as we were only there to sleep and recharge the batteries. Read more

The Fairfield Inn (Key West) is nice enough - the staff are really pleasant, and the main hotel areas (lobby, pool, tiki bar etc) are great but the room was very underwhelming and not really our style. Everything was clean enough and like I said it was fine, just no wow factor ... but for the price it wasn't too bad. It's a bit of a hike out of town […] if you walk, a short cab ride will get you to Schooner Warf or it's a reasonable bike ride. There isn't much to do around the hotel. We were so busy in Key West (sailing, sightseeing, eating and drinking) we didn't spend much time at the hotel any way, so as a crash pad it worked well. Read more

The staff was excellent. The few requests I had during my stay were addressed immediately. One being I needed an extra blanket and that arrived within 5 minutes. Second was the toilet stopped up, they came in 5 minutes to fix. The room was much smaller then I thought. The layout wasn't the best and hard to store things. The breakfast was nice, nothing […] over the top but was pretty typical. The fitness center was ok, though I couldn't use it because I couldn't stand the smell in it. Room was nice but a little small. Bathroom looked like it was just remodeled. It had nice shower doors, no ugly shower curtain. The only real complaint was that it didn't have a mini fridge. We brought some food, etc. from our last hotel and didn't have any place to keep it cold. We improvised and got ice from the ice machine out in the hall and put […] it in the room garbage can.
