"Not worth the cost"
I stayed during spring break and while I know rates go up at that time, it does not justify the dullness of the room. Nothing special. Looked like a plain room. "Need to keep on top of maintenance."
We went because of the excellent ratings. Unfortunately, we have to give two stars. The air condition was rattling off and the toilet paper holder kept falling off the rack, not a five star hotel status. We called three times to have the air condition looked at out of our 3 night stay, unacceptable. "good January get-away"
The Westin was a great hotel. We booked online and therefore had one king bed instead of the two queens we requested. We stayed in that room our first night and then were moved to another room with two beds the second night and third nights. Our only disappointment was that every day there was a cruise ship docked right on the west side of the hotel […] which remained there until evening and blocked the view. Air conditioner in room did not work. Engineering worked on A/C for 1 1/2 to 2 hours after check in, unable to repair. Westin reportedly fully occuppied. 80 degrees in our room with no A/C, unable to sleep had to leave hotel just before midnight to go to different hotel, Sheraton Suites. The front desk staff( so first impression) seemed inconvenienced at our early arrival, not gracious about our options.........also our room was in a part of the hotel used for meetings, not in the main building....it felt directly related to our resevation being from an online source. The location of this hotel is a BIG plus. It is right on the marina and very near Duval street, Audubon house, Hemingway House and Fort Zachary Park (all walking distance). The staff were all friendly and had pleasant smiling faces, no complaints there - nor about the condition of the room. The one thing I did have an issue with was the food. I have had to travel to a lot of remote places and i usually find something, so this was the first where i came up empty handed. "SO glad we chose this hotel!"
We've been going to Key West every December for 10 years, and this year we decided to switch to the other side of Mallory Square. Now we wish we'd changed to the Westin sooner! It is convenient to many attractions and our room and bed were very comfortable. We had a balcony with a partial oceanview, and even though at times there was a cruise ship at […] the dock, it wasn't there all day and we still could see the water and people watch too. But most importantly we received one of the warmest welcomes of any hotel we've ever stayed at in our travels, and the service was exceptional. Every day we looked forward to breakfast overlooking the water; it was not only delicious but also made a special event by the exceptional waiter we had. "Spa is on Sunset Island not in Key West"
The hotel has great service and amenities. The one thing is the spa is actually located on a separate island, which requires a ferry ride to get to. If your looking to simply roll down to the spa from your room, this isn't the hotel. I booked this hotel for this reason. The hotel is in a great location, close to all the major attractions, the landscaping is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful. "Wonderful Wedding"
We stayed five nights. I found the room to be pretty much an average hotel room. It was clean; with nice towels, bathrobes and a wonderful bed. The only complaint was, we never knew when they would come to clean the room. The pool area was adequate, kind of small with little shade. Upon arrival, we explained it was my wifes birthday. Could we please have an upgraded room. The hotel put us in a 3rd floor room (courtyard) over looking a dempster. We called the front desk and explained our situation again to the manager, he appologized, and put us in a room with the ocean view. For the most part we were pleased with our stay at the Westin. On a positive note the hotel restaurant is above average for lunch and breakfast fare and offers some good appetizers on the dinner menu. The hotel pool far exceeds that of most other hotels in the area. Our only negatives were centered around the amenities at the hotel. We had issues with […] our TV. It would not turn on, ultimately it turned out that the TV was on its last legs and we had to manually unplug the power cord from the back of the TV and plug it back on in order to operate the TV, even after we called engineering. "Much too expensive, there are better alternatives"
We took this hotel after having visited hotels of the same price range in Orlando (Hyatt Regency) and expected the same comfort level and quality service. However this is not the case. Though the look of the hotel is pleasing and the quality and size of the rooms is ok, we were first stored in a room that outlooked a set of ventilators of the nearby […] "aquarium", which made a LOT of noise. We had to ask FOUR times for another room, getting four times a negative answer, and the fifth time the manager was suddenly able to provide us with an alternative room. The location is nice: near the "center" of key west. The pool is much too small for the size of the hotel, resulting in all pool chairs to be occupied early in the morning. Besides that I strongly dislike the fact that guest are allowed to smoke and eat pizza's INSIDE the pool, and I am not talking about standing at the borders of the pool, but just eating pizza's and smoking in the middle of the pool. A pool attendee should make guests clear that this is really disgusting. We had one time the breakfast, which was also a very unpleasant surprise, since the grapes on my wife's fruit pleat were moldy, and when we made a remark on that, my wife got a new plate all right, but they didn't even start to apologize. Our new room was with ocean view, but we are glad we didn't pay for it, because the time we got up and hoped to enjoy the pool, there was a huge cruiser in front of the bay, blocking the complete view.
