"Loved it"
Gorgeous building. Amazing location. Felt a bit more like a hostel. Would stay there again, but wouldn't depend on a wake-up call. I ordered one and it never came. Neither did any sort of apology when I asked about it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"good hotel-fair price"
We wanted to stay in a hotel located close to downtown-5 points for under $100/night. The Redmont met our expectations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, but needs to be updated"
Lobby furntiture was worn, staff was indifferent, rooms were outdated and not very cleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"50 / 50"
It was ok, the room I had was dirty from that last guest. They did upgrade me which was very hospitable of them. It was in a very prime location, my stay was pleasant. I hated paying for parking no matter what hotel it is.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not bad considering; price is reasonable"
Downtown Birmingham isn't the most vibrant urban environment, and it is tough for a hotel to rise above its location. The Redmont is old - built in the 20's - and has charm, but it is a bit seedy and needs a facelift. There is no restaurant on the premises and options in the immediate vicinity are negligible. Fortunately, 2nd Street isn't far away and […] there are some good dining establishments there. Redmont's staff was helpful and friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel at a decent price"
No dining area but very close in downtown, decent rates and large nice rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean & convenient to central business district"
The hotel itself is a beautiful historic landmark in Birmingham. My room was recently remodeled and was clean and comfortable. The only complaint about the hotel itself is the unavailability of food/drinks. No in-house restaurant or even vending machines that I could find. The surrounding neighborhood is not the best. It's convenient to the central […] business district but not much else. After dark the neighborhood is like a ghost town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I was expecting"
No parking!! You have to pay $8 a day to park across the street.. Small rooms. Bathtub did not look like it did in the pictures..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant stay"
Great staff, adequate rooms, affordable price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, comfy but slightly dated."
The Redmont was a beautiful, old hotel. It was clean and convenient and met my needs. The funiture in the room was a little warn... but other than that, the hotel was fine. It was easy to find, close to where I needed to be, and the staff was courteous. If I have to go back to Birmingham... I would stay at the Redmont.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cost to location value"
Stayed two nights here on business. Right in the middle of downtown and convienent to the interstate. The hotel is old/historic so not a lot of frills but nice. The access to the YMCA around the corner is great for those who want to maintain their gym time and it just a block away. I will stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Right Hotel for the Right Needs"
The staff is very nice and took care of whatever was needed. The room was very comfortable. There is a bit of a musty odor in parts of the hotel. It is located within walking distance to three museums, and though there are few restaurants nearby on the weekend, there are a couple of good ones.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"To far"
This place is to far from any food or other attractions. Located outside the 5 corners and therefore tough to get any place to eat or see any attractions. There is no way me or my family were gonna walk in that neighborhoodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice old graceful building in down town"
This is a great older hotel that has wonderful rooms and very comfortable beds. My room was clean and well appointed. Shower worked well and the staff was very helpful. For the price this hotel is a good deal. Just a few blocks from the Art Museum and the Convention Center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bham AIM"
Overall, I thought that the hotel was descent. My only concern was that there were no working ice machines in the building or working vending machines to get a cold drink. The room was spacious, well kept, clean bathroom. The maid service was fantastic. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to all must-see sights"
Room was spacious. However, due to the aging factor bathroom needed resurfacing and maintenance. My roommate almost fell getting out of the tub and the toilet had a leak of unknown origin.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient central location"
Clean, but very strange. One bath towel, no guide book for the hotel or using the television, or any other relevant information. One chair. No food service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Roof Top Bar"
The hotel has a roof top bar that is a must see. Watching the sunset over the Birmingham skyline was delightful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"downtown Birmingham"
Hotel was "dated". Reminded me a bit of a run down hotel from he Shining. Old carpet, old linens/towels, TV, drapes, etc. In fact the bath towel was partially shredded. Carpet was dirty/spotted from previous debris. The cradle for blow dryer was hanging on the wall; but the blow dryer was missing and appears to have been for quite some time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overated"
Although the hotel is historic, it was not well kept. The floor in the hotel room was extremely dirty. There was no soap in the bathroom. There was mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom. The continental breakfast consisted of pre-wrapped muffins and juice. It should not be rated any higher than 2 stars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for me."
I was greeted warmly at check in. However, the rest of the time I had a question I was not treated as nice. We were invited to eat on the roof for orderbs, soup, salad, and cocktails and upon arriving was encouraged to try the diner 3 blocks down the road. Those working the food area was not as hospitable as the front desk was. The breakfast was 7.00 […] and was hot and was all it was advertised to be. The room was clean, but the refrigerator did not work. and there were tiles coming off the wall, in the bathroom which could have been a hazard. I was disapointed in the TV at the Hotel very grainy, and a old television. The Hotel lobby was nice, and lead me to believe the rooms would be the same. However clean, the furniture and fixtures was not the same quality. It was not much different than staying in a chain Hotel. I will not be in a hurry to stay there agian, I will not reccomend to friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Better than we expected!"
We were in Birmingham for an event at the Jefferson convention center downtown. The Redmont is the perfect place to stay if you want to park your car once you arrive in front of the hotel and not access it again until you depart. That is for Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning you just move your car across the street for $5 all day parking! Great staff! […] Very accommodating! Overall very satisfied! I'm gong to stay there next year for the same event. "Not the "Boutique" they advertised"
Location and price were fine, but the "boutique" they listed it as, it was not. The bed was basic, not even a pad below the sheet. The pillows were hard, foam - maybe bought at sears. Sheets, really rough. Free internet, great. The coffee with the pot in the room was really bad. Overall the Value was ok, but i would rather spend a bit more and get […] a better experience. It wasn't worth what I paid for it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Life is Good Layover"
I stayed at the Redmont on a Friday night in Mid August. It was lovely and peaceful. The vintage flare, charm and staff were wonderful. The surrounding Birmingham area was very clean and clearly had been through a revitalization. I was surprised and blessed by my stay at the Redmont Hotel. The bed was super comfy and the staff was wonderful. I should […] mention everything was in walking distance and marked very well in the city square. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The staff were not rude, but also not overly friendly. The hotel was not filthy, but the room was not very clean as in there were hairs from previous stay in the bathroom. The phone in the room was broken with several missing buttons and in general, the carpet smelled musty. The towels were low quality and only 2 were provided. There was no on-sight […] parking, just a pay lot across the street for you to tuck money in a slot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"not impressed"
The Water took too long to heat up and the elevators doors needed cleaning, Our room had bread crumbs on the floor and the packaged utensils had been open (so it hadn't been replaced when room was supposed to been cleaned). They had remodeled the room but you could stiill see that it was a old hotel ; they had a new fire alarm but the old one in the […] ceiling still there with no cover on it and the towel racks needed polishing due to the rusted spots. "Convenient for Sloss and clean!"
The Redmont was conveniently located to Sloss, it was clean, a few nice restaurants close enough to walk to, and the beds were comfortable. The only issue I had was with the door not latching on my first room. The first person I told this to passed it on to the maintenance guy, but he was also running a shuttle for the hotel. By the time he got back […] from his shuttle run I was ready to go to bed. I called the front desk and there was a different person working at this point. She didn't take the time to listen to what I was saying and then hung up on me. I went down to the desk and asked her why and she said she had too many things going on. (no excuse for being rude). After telling her my situation she handled it well. If I hadn't had a problem with the lock, I wouldn't have had any issues. I'll stay there again next time I'm in town. "Old Birmingham"
I stayed here on business. The location was perfect for my needs. The staff were great. My only complaint was a lack of soundproofing. Hallway traffic was infrequent, but easily heard from inside my room. In fact, the noise woke me up a few times during each night of my stay. Could this be fixed by installing thicker doors? Maybe... but this may just […] be a problem inherent to Birmingham's Historic Redmont Hotel. I would recommend it for every other aspect, but getting a good night's sleep is important to me. "You get what you pay for...not in a bad way"
I was really skeptical about staying there, and there wasn't much out there about the place. I'm college aged, and me and my friends had three rooms total. All rooms were different, some larger then others. Overall it wasn't a bad stay. Because we were crammed 4 in a room, there weren't enough towels, and we practically had to pull teeth to get some […] extra ones. The place was quite, the roof top bar was cool, and it is a hop skip and jump away from the BJCC. Oh, and the free breakfast was more of a teaser than a meal. Overall, it wasn't horrible. It's an old hotel, and the hallway looks like something out of a horror movie, but the rooms aren't bad. You can tell they've done some updating and remodeling (not just up to par with a newer build hotel). Overall, if I didn't have any other choice, I wouldn't mind staying there again. And I'm sure that the upper floors had better quality rooms....but next time, The Redmont definitely won't be my first choice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convience and Economy"
The historic Redmont is convenient to any researcher working at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and/or Birmingham Public Library Department of Archives and Manuscripts. The staff was warm and helpful, although the desk clerk I spoke with was unfamiliar with the location of BPL's Department of Archives and Manuscripts even though it is located […] only one block away. The biggest drawback to staying anywhere in downtown Birmingham is that the city literally shuts down at 3:00 in the afternoon. This means that hotel guests are reliant on hotel restaurants unless they have transportation to the university or suburbs. Even so, the Redmont was ideally situated to my purposes, and I would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Customer service stinks"
1. Bath towel was actually a hand towel. 2. Toiletries had clearly been used. 3. Breakfast was lacking, butter and/or jam for muffins- so your choice is to eat it dry? No spoons for cereal. no napkins, no plates, cold coffee at breakfast bar but the hot coffee is at the front desk? Poorly stocked fridge. I got the last milk for cereal. No real attention […] to customer service. The free shuttle was nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, service somewhat lacking"
Positives-The location is wonderful, and the view from the room was beautiful. The room itself was pretty basic, but it was clean and all that I really needed. Negatives-The hotel would not provide transportation from the airport because their driver did not come to work. They refused to pay for my cab fare or to suggest any other arrangements. After […] factoring in the cost of cab fare to and from the airport, I really would have been better off with a more expensive hotel. The staff on duty when I checked in at night were extremely rude and unhelpful, although those who were on duty when I checked out in the morning were very pleasant. Finally, the room was REALLY cold. The temperatures were unusually cold in Birmingham when I visited, so I imagine that the hotel is normally fine and is just not well insulated or equipped to deal with very cold temperatures, but it did make my stay very uncomfortable. "Very friendly staff, but freezing cold room!"
The staff here is great. They have a shuttle that will take you and drop you anywhere you like... for FREE. Great service. However, the hotel lacks a in-house restaurant and the rooms are freezing. This is mostly due to the fact that the hotel is very old and has original window frames still intact. Overall, a cold stay that was easily made up for […] by the unmatched, free shuttle service.
