Nice suite, excellent price for Denver, in a borderline neighborhood. VERY convenient neighborhood and easy parking, garden behind. What needs work is the breakfast. "Lovely, but not perfect"
This is a beautiful hotel in a historic mansion. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the building and grounds are beautiful, and food is delicious! The owners are making a big effort to do everything sustainably and locally, so their produce is locally grown or grown in the garden on the grounds, and they patronize local business for food, amenities, […] and furniture as much as possible. That being said, I was staying during a heat wave, and the old mansion doesn't have very good airflow. I had a choice of a very hot, stuffy room, or running a noisy window air conditioner. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well at all. The Queen Anne is in the Uptown district, but right on the edge of Five Points and across the street from a park with several homeless encampments. I walked across the park on my first night at dusk to go to a local eatery, and didn't really feel safe doing so. (I'm a woman and I was traveling alone.) The hotel security is very good, so I felt safe while in the hotel; I just didn't wander the neighborhood too much. Overall, this is a lovely place, and I'll return, just not during a hot summer. The original bedrooms in this converted Victorian are now guestrooms, and, though a bit small (or cozy, if you're a B&B fan), are the perfect change from the impersonal corporate business hotels. Lovely staff, great home-cooked breakfasts with all local, organic […] ingredients, and a thriving local restaurant scene make this a charming change of pace. If you're afraid of the street life in a not-quite-completely gentrified area, if you don't want to interact with the other guests, or if some tattoed, nose-ringed bohemians as your hotel staff will freak you out, you should probably stick to the Shera-Marri-Hyatt-Holiday Inns. A lovely house in an historic neighborhood and one that is a National Landmark to boot! I stayed two night and was given an upgrade on arrival to the top floor, a nice big room. It seems that the "Oak" room, which I'd booked, is on the ground floor right next to the dining room, so it might have been a bit noisy in the mornings if one wanted to sleep […] beyond 7:15am! "Lovely hotel - but not the Tower room"
We stayed at the Queen Anne for 3 nights in August because of all the great reviews it had received. It is a real labour of love by Milan & his staff who are delightful, friendly & helpful. It is set in a pleasant residential area just a few minutes walk from the downtown area & has a lovely garden to sit out in and where breakfast can be served on […] warm mornings. Most of the propety has been refurbished over the last 2 years & is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately we had booked the Tower room which is one of the few rooms which has not yet been done & not to the standard of the rest of the property. The room is a lovely large room but faces onto the side of the next door property - if you look side ways you can see the park. It gets the full afternoon sun & when we were there, became very hot indeed - there is an air con unit which is very noisy and we found it impossible to sleep with it on. The room overall is tired, a bit cobwebby and full of heavy dark furniture. Worst of all the bed was dreadfully hard and uncomfortable. I could not sleep on it the first night & it only became bearable with several layers of blankets and an extra mattress cover. The ensuite bathroom is fine. Milan was profusely apologetic but could not move us as he was full. He assured us that the room was about to be refurbished & the new beds were arriving the following week.
